2023 IMPACT REPORT AUSTRALIAN HAYDN ENSEMBLE
“The Australian Haydn Ensemble is not to be missed.” New York Concert Review Inc, Carnegie Hall, 2023.
Australian Haydn Ensemble performs at the Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall, New York City, 16 October 2023.
YOUR SUPPORT IN 2023 HELPED US MAKE OUR DÉBUT AT CARNEGIE HALL. THANK YOU.
“IN 2023, AHE BEGAN A NEW DECADE, WITH A SEASON THAT ILLUMINATES THE MUSIC AND TRADITIONS OF THE 18TH CENTURY.”
AHE has ambitious plans for our second decade. Thank you for being part of our journey so far.
2023 was a big year of growth and success. It included our incredibly exciting début tour to the United States, with nine performances that drew rave reviews and standing ovations at every single location including Carnegie Hall, New York, and at the opening of the new Australian Embassy in Washington, DC.
We are all so proud of this achievement that even significantly larger organisations would have found challenging. We certainly could not have done it without your encouragement and financial support. The rapturous receptions we received everywhere were so inspiring to us all.
AHE has reached a whole new level of success in the last two years. There was our Haydn’s Times of Day marathon at the Adelaide Festival 2022, our incredible Haydn’s Creation at the Canberra International Music Festival and in Sydney, Beethoven’s Eroica and Beethoven’s Seventh, Haydn Speaks with John Bell. We also performed in the stunning small
halls of regional NSW and re-launched our Australian Haydn Academy and AHE Young Artist program.
We believe we have the potential to see AHE ranked among the world’s best in period instrument performance.
Our second decade is even more ambitious. AHE is currently in a period of growth and consolidation, moving from a start-up to a flourishing small to medium not-for-profit company. Our strategy is to steadily grow AHE's artistic activities while enhancing artistic reputation. We are creating a sustainable organisation while maintaining our energy and passion, which naturally communicates itself to our audiences in everything we do and everywhere we go.
Thank you for supporting another year of incredible music.
Skye McIntosh Artistic Director

AHE IMPACT
With artistic impact at the heart of everything we do, our second decade centres consolidation and growth, based on these four strategic pillars:
1. Artistic Excellence and Impact
2. Enlightening Collaborations
3. Grow and Educate Audiences
4. Build a Resilient Company
Amplify vibrant, compelling programming and richly engaging performances of Classical and late Baroque era music performed by Australia’s leading historical specialists.
Exciting artistic collaborations, high-quality international guest artists and long-term community partnerships across metro and regional Australia, and internationally, that welcome audiences both existing and new.
Relentless commitment to investing in our future by building our digital capacity, our education programs and building opportunities for our musicians.
Strengthen philanthropic focus and management depth to build on this unique moment in AHE’s history.
AHE is financially sustained by diverse income streams, and the AHE board and management team work hard to ensure every dollar received has a tangible impact on our artistic and organisational growth and stability. AHE ensures that our diverse audiences have the opportunity to hear our music around the world in concert halls and online.

When you make a donation to the Australian Haydn Ensemble you help us to:
// 1
Bring beautiful music to more people in our cities, regional Australia and beyond.
// 2
Introduce the joy of period instruments and historically informed practice to young musicians.

Give new life to the music of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and lesser known composers like Boccherini and CPE Bach.
// 4
Bring audiences into the sound world originally created by Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven.
//
5
Ensure rarely performed chamber arrangements of works by Beethoven and Mozart are played again, sometimes for the first time since the nineteenth century, bringing delight to new audiences.
// 6
Continue to build on our considerable success!
