Extend your creativity and learn painting and drawing techniques with a range of mediums to enable you to create exciting and unique artworks and designs which can be turned into a range of products. Through learning digital manipulation of your hand created artworks, you can make your art suitable for digital printing on a range of products from homewares, fashion products, gift items and more. The Diploma course will prepare you with the skills to create exiciting designs creat-

ed from your paintings and drawings or designed on computer exclusively. You will learn how to create repeat prints, various colourways, coordinating prints, colour separations for printing and product specifications. This qualification reflects the role of visual artists and combines specialised technical, creative and conceptual skills to develop an emerging arts practice. It focuses on developing skills in 2 dimensional art forms such as drawing, painting, illustration, textile design and digital surface design. As well, you will develop skills and knowledge of art theory and history and be able to critically analyse and synthesise information from a range of sources. Some business skills are also covered so that you will be able to realise your dream of becoming a creative arts practitioner.

Entry Requirements \\\ To apply for entry to this qualification you will need to attend an interview and produce a BODY of work, or have successfully completed our Certificate III OR IV in Visual Arts qualification. BODY OF WORK
CRITERIA
Provide at least 7 but no more than 10 examples of your original work.
Your work should indicate creative ability skills and interests in the visual arts. Examples of your work should show a range of technical skills, visual processes and media. You must also demonstrate a variety of approaches to subject matter, themes or concepts.
You can submit the work in its original format but it must not exceed A3 size (297mm x 420mm). You can also submit photographs (preferably in 8 x 10 format) or equivalent high quality digital images, in .tiff or .jpg format on a CD, DVD or USB. Photographic images should be used for original installations, performance, large scale or three dimensional works.
SUBMISSION FORMAT When submitting your original work, you are required to: • Ensure all pages of your portfolio have your name clearly printed across the bottom of the page. • Ensure your work is no greater than A3 in size. Your original work can also be submitted as photographs, digital images on optical disk (CD or DVD) or USB but all work must have your name marked on it.
The criteria to be used in assessing the selection tasks are: • Interest in and capacity to apply skills and knowledge in at least one of the visual art disciplines (for example, painting, photography, sculpture, printmaking, drawing or ceramics) • Individuality of expression • An ability to experiment • An ability to express personal vision • An imaginative and innovative application of ideas and concepts • Care and skill in the presentation of work presented All selection criteria apply equally.

USB THUMB DRIVE
The Student ID Card can be used to receive discounts for software of other items from participating retailers. Students who wish to receive concession travel allowances will need a Student ID card as well as apply through Translink for a student ready GoCard (note: you must be a Queensland resident).
A USB thumb drive is required with a recommended space of 2GB, ideally more.
PRINTING AND PHOTOCOPYING We provide printing accounts for students to use the printers at each of the campuses. The minimum credit that can be purchased is $25.00 and once purchased students are provided with a login to the printers to print their items. Printed items are charged as shown in the table below... *
BASIC STATIONERY
LAPTOP COMPUTER & DESIGN SOFTWARE Students who are accepted into the program will be required to have a laptop computer with a wireless network connection to be able to access our wireless network. Please check this course’s webpage to see the laptop and software minimum requirements.
FABRIC / PRODUCT PRINTING Students will need to be prepared to purchase some items to showing their design on fabrics or products. The price of this will vary depending on the items or fabrics ordered.

2 ATTEND THE APPOINTMENT Attend a student interview and complete the short interview questionaire and application form.
3 RECEIVE ACCEPTANCE LETTER Successful applicants will receive an acceptance letter along with enrolment forms and student handbook in the mail.
4 RETURN ENROLMENT FORM To enrol return the signed enrolment form.
