The Long Table Residing on the 25th floor of Column Tower, Long Table is a hidden jewel in Bangkok’s crown. Standing tall over the city, the panoramic view is exasperated by the nostalgic house beats that roll from the glass facade into the night sky.

Believed to be the longest table in the world, it seats around 70 people. The bar seeks to redefine the dining and drinking experience in Bangkok.

Three Sixty The latest addition to Bangkok's skyline, The Millennium Hilton Hotel on the Chonburi side of the Chao Praya River is a proud salute to cutting-edge design. Just a short ferry ride across the river from the River City Pier, or a ride on the hotel's hospitality boat from Saphan Taksin Pier (walking distance from Saphan Taksin BTS station).

Take the elevator up to the 31st floor, and proceed one flight of stairs up to Three Sixty, a sophisticated jazz lounge that does justice to its name with unrivalled 360 degree views. Since its opening in March 2006, Three Sixty has become a popular hang-out for Bangkok's jet-set and tourists who have fallen in love with the views.

Drinks are moderately priced and (despite being an indoor venue) there are demarcated smoking zones.

Sky Bar, Distil and Sirocco Enjoy sweeping views from the top of Bangkok's second tallest building, the landmark State Tower with its highly visible golden dome.

Tucked away in a corner of the award-winning open air Sirocco restaurant on the 64th floor, Sky Bar's counter is magically illuminated and changes colour every few minutes. A favourite hang-out for celebrities and wannabes, this is where you'd find some of the best live jazz in Bangkok. Also located at the Dome is Distil, another place where everyone likes to be seen. Part DJ bar, part smoking lounge.

Yet another venue is "the Breeze" on the 52nd floor, this means within this one building (Lebua Hotel), also known as "The state tower" you have 5 venues / vantage points, capturing views west over the Chao Phraya River and east across the city skyline.

Drinks and food are might be pricey, but the experience is priceless.

Balco Bar A well kept secret, on the 5th floor (rooftop) of Rivercity complex on the Chao Phraya River. Here you can watch all the activity of the most popular dinner cruise Pier.

Al fresco rooftop bar by the riverside, good alternative to classy hotel rooftop venues surrounding it.

Offering the same stunning view of Chao Phraya River but you don't pay as much to enjoy it as drinks are reasonably priced.

The atmosphere is casual and pleasant.

Soothing bossa nova tunes begin the evening before it shifts to house beats later into the night.

Gazebo A rooftop bar-come-club where balmy winds and nocturnal city views mix into a heady cocktail. It's all a little like the entrance to a half-built pleasure palace. Resist the temptation to turn back; views entertain while you sip cocktails in what feels like an upscale Moroccan loft.

The plump cushions, the soft lamps, the shisha pipes (and the lack of air-conditioning…) are all heavily redolent of Cairo. Includes ‘The Zed Bar’ – a state-of-the-art DJ room where you can belly dance into the small hours. A sultry evening breeze heightens the Arabian Night's feel, while the live reggae band adds to the eclecticism. Then, once the cocktails have kicked in and your eyes glazed over, head next door to 3am loud dance beats. Entry is 300 baht after midnight.

D'Sens Bar & Restaurant Overlooking Lumpini Park from the top (22nd) floor of this prime and established Bangkok hotel, this elegant Frenchthemed restaurant and bar comes highly recommended with its three Michelin stars in the dining category.

It's possible to pop in just for a drink too, but make the most of your evening with the fine cuisine of Jacques and Laurent Pourcel from Le Jardin fame. Views are panaromic, and this would be the right place to impress a date.

The Rooftop Bar 77th Floor Thailand's tallest building, the Baiyoke Sky Hotel rises 88 storeys above the Bangkok skyline, and offers magnificent views from dizzying heights. Professional bands and singers perform nightly at the indoor Rooftop Bar, which is located on the 83rd floor.

The Observation and Revolving roof decks on the 77th and 84th floors are open until 22:30, but no drinks or refreshments are served.

Above Eleven The latest rooftop bar and restaurant to emerge on the Sukhumvit Soi 11 party strip.

Above Eleven serves Peruvian Japanese fusion fare, known as Nikkei cuisine, along with a refreshing list of cocktails made from Peruvian Pisco. The bar provides a peaceful space in the heart of the city, decked out with wooden seats surrounded by fake grass and a large glass wall that allows you to, again, embrace the 180-degree view on the 33rd floor.

Our visit (Oct 2012) A little tricky finding the entrance (do ask) and it's worth the trouble. The views are broad and transparent, a long open bar (easy access) and many cosy tables with Uninterrupted views.

The menu price is fair for this romantic setting, the food has an Indian infusion which gives a little spice and spark.
