Connect is the UK’s first Social Network for families living with autism. It has been developed by Autism West Midlands with funding from the Department for Education. Join Connect, and you can: •• Develop your own social network, featuring the people and providers who give you support •• Search for people local to you who are going through similar experiences •• Share your experiences and thoughts, ask questions, give answers, and interact with other families (you can even send hugs!) •• Find and promote local activities and events •• Rate and review local providers and services, sharing them with others through the directory •• Access free autism eLearning •• Download information and visual resources •• Share ideas and suggestions for local support and activities

There are lots of great features to explore and enjoy. The idea of Connect is to bring together members of the autism community and allow you to share your stories, thoughts and ideas. We have added pages that we think will help with this and prompt discussion and collaboration on issues that matter to you. The Question and Answer page (Q+A) is designed to encourage you to talk about the things that matter to you. You can add your own questions to get helpful advice from other users as well as our trained staff. Or you can share your own wisdom and experience with others by answering their questions. The Service Directory is a page devoted to services, organisations and businesses that are working to improve the lives of people with autism and their families. Please add anyone or anything that you think fits this description and will be useful to other users of the site. You can also rate and review services to ensure that other people are aware of which ones are great! The Events/Calendar section is the place to find events that organisations are running as well as add your own. You can add any event that you want other members of the site to know about. Include as much detail as possible and encourage other people to join in the fun! And of course there is the social side to Connect. You can build a profile to give people a look into your world and your life. Then you can post status updates, links and pictures to share your news and day-to-day experiences with others. Use the “Like” button to celebrate the achievements of others or maybe “Send a Hug” to offer comfort to a friend who is going through a hard time. Through all the ups and downs, Connect is here to remind you that you are not alone.
