A free play session for parents and their children under five with autism (or being assessed for autism). Brothers and sisters also welcome. Come and get advice on autism and behaviour strategies and have some quiet time in the sensory room. Aspire Shropshire Summer Youth Programme 2013

A Summer Youth Programme for people aged 15-19 with Asperger Syndrome living in Shropshire. Location: Belle Vue Youth & Community Centre, Shrewsbury. Time: Sessions will start at 11.00am and finish at 4.00pm. Cost: £5 per session – you can pay upfront or on the day.


Programme details Are you interested in having some fun and meeting other young people with Asperger Syndrome or high functioning autism? Activities include:

Arts and crafts, films, quizzes trips out, sports, gaming tournament, learning workshops, cooking, music and more. Tuesday 30th July Tuesday 6th August Tuesday 13th August Tuesday 20th August Tuesday 27th August

Am I eligible? To be eligible for the programme you must: • Be aged 15 to 19 years old • Live in Shropshire • Have Asperger Syndrome or another diagnosis at the higher functioning end of the autistic spectrum • Be able to attend most or all of the session dates • Be keen to meet other people with Asperger Syndrome and take part in a programme to develop skills • Be registered with or willing to register with ‘All In’ Short Breaks programme

Family Walks

Shropshire Summer 2013

You are invited

to join the Shropshire team for a walk in our lovely countryside. As ever, bring a picnic, something to sit on, and clothing suitable for our Great British weather. Sou’westers and sun cream at the ready! Children remain the responsibility of their parents.


Lyth Hill, nr Bayston Hill (Shrewsbury) Thursday 8th August, 11.00am-2.00pm A ridge-top walk at the Countryside Heritage Site. Mainly flat but with some steeper sections. We will use a pushchair-friendly route. Take the A49 to Bayston Hill. Turn onto Lyth Hill Road. Follow the road for a mile to reach the Lyth Hill Countryside Heritage Site car park.

Rectory Wood and Field in Church Stretton Friday 16th August, 11.00am-2.00pm Chance to explore woodland and a sculpture trail – it’s pretty hilly and can be muddy in places. Not suitable for pushchairs. Go into Church Stretton, onto the High Street, turn into Cunnery Road (follow signs for Longmynd Hotel). Go up steep hill, the car park is on the right past the hotel entrance.

Colemere Country Park, nr Ellesmere Friday 23rd August, 11.00am-2.00pm A gentle stroll around beautiful Colemere on well established paths which are suitable for pushchairs. Follow brown signs from the A528 Shrewsbury-Ellesmere road. Narrow country lanes but well worth the effort!

Thursday 22 August 1.30 to 3.30pm Join us for Board Games and Lego at the Barnabas Community Church Centre, Longden Coleham, SHREWSBURY, SY3 7DN Parents are welcome to stay with their children (siblings also welcome) or leave their child with autism (aged 9-18) in our care (advance booking required for this). ÂŁ3 per child (max ÂŁ5 per family), adults free.
