AUTOMOBILES Magazine
We’re proud to present the third printed issue of Automobiles Magazine. This milestone reflects the effort and commitment our team has put into building a resource that has quickly gained traction among automotive enthusiasts and consumers across Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts.
In this issue, we offer even more in-depth vehicle reviews, industry insights, area sales results, and exclusive features, including the debut of the just-introduced McLaren W1 that graces our cover.
The response to our publication so far has been overwhelming, with our last issue being the first to sell out completely. For those who want to guarantee a copy of the magazine each month, we’re introducing a subscription service that will deliver the printed issue directly to your mailbox.
The demand has shown us that, even in an era dominated by digital media, there’s still a strong desire for a well-designed, printed magazine. Interestingly, we’re not alone in seeing this trend. Across the publishing industry, there’s been a noticeable resurgence in interest in print media. After years of declining circulation, printed magazines are making a comeback, fueled by a growing appreciation for physical media in a world saturated with digital content. Readers are rediscovering the unique appeal of print—a format that encourages them to slow down, engage more deeply with the content, and experience something tangible and lasting.
Many industry analysts attribute this renewed interest to the tactile quality of print that screens simply can’t replicate. A magazine, with its carefully curated layout and premium paper, offers a distinct and memorable reading experience that feels intentional and substantial. For Automobiles Magazine, this means providing our readers with something they want to keep and revisit—a well-designed product that belongs on a coffee table or office desk, adding value beyond the fleeting nature of digital media.
As we move forward, we’re excited to be part of this broader trend and remain committed to producing a magazine that blends high-quality content with exceptional design. Our goal is to provide a meaningful and enjoyable reading experience that keeps our audience engaged month after month.
We’ll also continue to offer an enhanced digital edition featuring over 100 current offers from dealers in the RI/MA/CT area. The digital edition, typically available during the second week of each cover month, includes all the print content along with exclusive new car specials from top franchised dealerships. The timing aligns with manufacturer incentives, typically released early in the month, allowing dealerships to finalize and provide us with their best offers. This ensures the digital edition brings readers the most up-to-date specials and promotions. Sent out to over 100,000 individuals across Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, our digital edition reaches a broad audience and is also accessible through the Automobiles.media website.
We appreciate your ongoing support and look forward to bringing you even more valuable content in the issues ahead.

AUDI INTRODUCES RS3
2025 Audi RS 3 gets updates to sharpen its looks and dynamic edges Audi has unveiled the refreshed 2025 RS 3, available in both sedan and Sportback versions, following its recent triumph in reclaiming the Nürburgring lap record for cars not featuring front-wheel drive. Although the RS 3 retains the same 394 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque from its 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine, a few key enhancements set it apart. Visually, the grille has been flattened, and the larger intakes and redesigned headlights introduce a more aggressive aesthetic. Internally, the steering wheel has been revamped with haptic buttons, and the Virtual Cockpit gets new graphics and shift lights. Audi has even paid attention to the interior aroma, testing it to ensure a pleasing “new car smell.” New color options like Kyalami Green and Kemora Gray, along with carbon fiber accents, add to the RS 3’s character.
Toyota Motor Pushes Back
U.S. EV Production Timeline
Toyota will delay the production of electric vehicles in North America until early 2026, citing a re-evaluation of its design amid a slowing market for EVs in the U.S. Initially, production of a three-row all-electric SUV was scheduled to commence in Georgetown, Kentucky, by the end of 2025, with a new model starting production in Indiana by late 2026. However, the delay will push these plans back a few months. The shift follows slower-than-expected EV sales in the U.S., prompting Toyota to rethink its strategy. A North Carolina battery plant is set to open in 2025 to supply future EVs, and Toyota aims to have seven all-electric vehicles in the U.S. by 2026.
Cadillac Shows New Optiq
The Cadillac OPTIQ is a fully electric SUV that aims to redefine luxury with powerful dual motors and a range of innovative features. With up to 354 lb.-ft. of torque and 300 horsepower, it offers a compelling blend of performance and comfort. The cabin is equipped with advanced technology like a 33-inch diagonal LED display, a 19-speaker AKG Studio audio system, and a 126-color ambient lighting setup. Cadillac is positioning the OPTIQ as the ideal EV for those seeking a mix of power and luxury, supported by state-of-the-art driver assistance technology and an option for hands-free driving with Super Cruise.
Biden Administration Allocates $1 Billion for EV Infrastructure
The Biden administration has announced an additional $1 billion in funding to support the installation of new EV charging stations across 30 states, aiming to add more than 9,200 charging ports. This initiative is part of the administration’s broader goal to build 500,000 chargers by 2030, a promise that has seen slow progress thus far. This new funding is expected to benefit rural areas, disadvantaged communities, and charging facilities for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. Notably, the California Department of Transportation will receive $102 million for both EV charging and hydrogen fueling infrastructure along 2,500 miles of highways.
Geico Won’t Insure Cybertruck
Geico has reportedly decided to exclude Tesla’s upcoming Cybertruck from its insurance coverage due to it not meeting their underwriting guidelines. This comes as a surprise given that Tesla’s vehicles are generally insurable through other major providers. The decision raises questions about the criteria used by insurers when evaluating unconventional vehicle designs like the Cybertruck’s, potentially signaling future challenges for owners of niche electric vehicles seeking comprehensive coverage.
Chrysler Brings Back Voyager as Entry-Level Minivan
Chrysler has revived the Voyager nameplate, positioning it as the most affordable model in its minivan lineup. Starting at $39,995, the Voyager offers a value-oriented option below the Chrysler Pacifica, featuring a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with 287 horsepower. With standard amenities like a 10.1-inch touchscreen and a three-zone HVAC system, it retains the functionality and comfort expected from Chrysler while providing a more accessible price point.
Alfa Romeo to Offer Only One Trim Level for 2025 Models
Alfa Romeo has simplified its lineup by eliminating traditional trim levels for its 2025 models. The Giulia, Stelvio, and Tonale will now be available in a single “core” version with various package options, replacing the previous Sprint, Ti, and Veloce grades. This move is intended to streamline the ordering process and offer more flexibility, though it could create confusion for some buyers accustomed to the old structure.
Rivian Starts CPO Program
Rivian has announced the launch of its Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program to cater to the growing interest in its used models. This initiative is part of Rivian’s broader strategy to establish a foothold in the EV market while addressing increasing consumer demand for its vehicles.
Bentley Slows Planned EV Transition, Works on Hybrid Options
Bentley is delaying its plans for an all-electric lineup until 2030 and is now focusing on hybrids. The luxury automaker cited slower-than-anticipated EV adoption and the ongoing appeal of combustion engines among its customer base as reasons for the change. Bentley’s first EV is expected to be unveiled around 2026, with a transition to a fully electric lineup targeted by the mid-2030s.

A Legacy of Excellence in Automotive Sales and Service
Founded in 1943 by Bob Tasca, Sr., the Tasca Automotive Group has grown from a single Ford dealership in Bristol, Rhode Island, to a multi-location, multi-brand enterprise spanning several states. The family-owned business has consistently been at the forefront of innovation and customer satisfaction, earning a reputation as a trusted dealer group.
From pioneering leasing programs at Tasca Lincoln Mercury in the 1980s to opening one of the most hightech dealership facilities in the country in 2002, the Tasca family has always aimed to exceed customer expectations. The Cranston location, which now includes the new Mazda showroom, was one of the most advanced dealerships of its time when it first opened, featuring a drive-through carwash, an in-house Italian café, and a spacious customer lounge.
Today, the Tasca Automotive Group is run by the fourth generation of the Tasca family, who continue to uphold the values and principles established by their founder. With locations in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Illinois, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, and Missouri, Tasca has grown into one of the nation’s premier dealership groups, serving customers with brands like Ford, Lincoln, Mazda, Volvo, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Fiat, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac.
A New Era for Tasca Mazda
The new Mazda showroom in Cranston is part of Tasca’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the customer
experience and expanding its presence in the automotive market. The showroom is more than just a place to buy a car—it’s designed to be a destination where customers can learn more about the Mazda brand, enjoy a comfortable atmosphere, and experience a high level of service.
“We’ve been looking forward to the opening of this new Mazda showroom for quite some time,” said a representative from Tasca. “With its modern amenities and extensive inventory, we’re excited to welcome customers to explore what Mazda has to offer in a space that’s both inviting and functional.”

REDLINE RESTORATIONS: PRESERVING
AUTOMOTIVE HERITAGE
IN
BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT
Redline Restorations, founded in 2003 by Colton Amster, has earned a reputation as one of the top automotive restoration facilities in the Northeast. Based in Bridgeport, Connecticut, this renowned restoration shop has grown from a modest startup into a comprehensive 88,000-square-foot facility that serves as a hub for car enthusiasts, collectors, and anyone passionate about the preservation and restoration of classic and exotic automobiles.
With an impressive range of in-house capabilities and a commitment to quality, Redline Restorations has become a go-to destination for those looking to revive their cherished vehicles.
The story of Redline Restorations began when Colton and his father relocated to Connecticut from Massachusetts. Inspired by a shared passion for cars and decades of automotive expertise, they established the business to focus on restoring pre-war vehicles. Early on, the company operated out of a smaller facility but quickly gained recognition for its meticulous attention to detail and ability to handle complex projects. As demand grew, Redline moved to its current location, which offers ample space for mechanical, bodywork, and custom fabrication projects, as well as a specialized area dedicated to Concours-level restorations
Diverse Restoration Services and In-House Expertise
Today, Redline Restorations is capable of handling a wide range of vehicles—from pre-war and post-war classics to
modern supercars like the Ferrari 812 TDF and the Nissan Skyline GT-R. Their team of craftsmen and engineers possesses expertise in everything from mechanical repairs and custom paintwork to upholstery and the fabrication of rare or discontinued parts. This diversity enables Redline to work on projects that other shops might not be equipped to handle.
During a recent interview, Paulo Barros, the Director of Special Events and Marketing at Redline, shared that sourcing parts remains one of their biggest challenges, especially for older or unique models. “Finding parts is definitely the hardest part with these vehicles, and a lot of times our in-house fabricator has to make them from scratch,” Paulo explained. “It might take a long time, but it’s necessary for these high-quality restorations.” Their ability to create custom parts in-house allows Redline to maintain the authenticity and integrity of every vehicle they restore
Some of their standout projects include the restoration of a Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR and a 1957s Maserati 300S, as well as custom work on a Subaru with a fully carbon-fiber
body. While initially focused on early 20th-century vehicles, Redline has expanded its offerings to include newer models from the 1980s and 1990s, which are now being recognized as classics in their own right. Community Engagement and Philanthropy
Redline Restorations isn’t just about cars—it’s also about community. The company has made a name for itself through its active engagement with the local Bridgeport area. One of its flagship events, “Wake and Brake,” is held during the summer months and brings together car enthusiasts, local vendors, and charity organizations for a day of automotive fun. During this event, Redline opens its facility to the public, showcasing their current projects and allowing people to get an up-close look at the cars and the restoration process.
Redline uses these events as an opportunity to give back to the community. All proceeds from vehicle display fees during “Wake and Brake” go directly to local charities, such as Catalyst CT. Redline also sponsors organizations like the Fairfield Theater Company and the Sacred Heart Community Theater, providing them with financial support and vehicles to display at events.
Their 9,400-square-foot venue space within the facility is available for rental by nonprofit organizations at a reduced rate, allowing them to host fundraising events and community gatherings. Paulo highlighted Redline’s commitment to the community: “We try to do as much as we can for the local area. It’s part of our philosophy to not only be a business but also a positive influence in the community.”
Expanding the Experience with a Membership-Based Lounge
Redline Restorations is taking its community engagement a step further by launching a new membership-based lounge within their Bridgeport facility. The lounge will feature a bar and comfortable seating areas, creating a relaxed atmosphere where members can enjoy a drink while being surrounded by some of the most iconic cars in automotive history.
“We’re going to have a bar open, so it’s going to be a place for people to come in, hang out, have a drink, and talk cars or just watch TV,” Paulo shared. The addition of the lounge is part of Redline’s efforts to create a more immersive experience for their clients and community members, making it more than just a restoration facility but also a gathering place for automotive enthusiasts.

A New Era of Ultimate Supercar Performance
McLaren W1: A New Era of Ultimate Supercar Performance
McLaren Automotive has officially unveiled the McLaren W1, a groundbreaking successor to the legendary F1 and P1TM models. The W1 represents the pinnacle of McLaren’s innovation, design, and engineering, pushing the boundaries of what a road-legal supercar can achieve. Building on decades of motorsport and supercar experience, the W1 is poised to redefine the standards of speed, handling, and driver engagement for the modern era.
A Bold New Chapter in McLaren’s Supercar Legacy
In the competitive world of supercars, every millisecond and every kilogram matter. The W1 embodies McLaren’s relentless pursuit of performance, utilizing a hybrid powertrain that sets new benchmarks for power output and weight reduction. It is powered by the all-new 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 MHP-8 engine, which produces a staggering 928PS at an astonishing 9,200 rpm. This engine is paired with a power-dense E-module electric motor that contributes an additional 347PS, bringing the total output to an incredible 1275PS—making it the most powerful McLaren ever.
The combination of this powertrain with the W1’s lightweight engineering results in a class-leading power-toweight ratio of 911PS per tonne.
The W1’s dry weight is just 1,399kg, a testament to McLaren’s obsessive focus on reducing every unnecessary gram.
A Marvel of Engineering: The McLaren W1’s Powertrain
At the core of the McLaren W1’s
astonishing performance is its all-new MHP-8 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. This masterpiece of engineering is the most powerful combustion engine McLaren has ever produced, delivering a jaw-dropping 928PS. With a specific power output of 233PS per liter, the MHP-8 sets a new benchmark for internal combustion engines, surpassing even the revered units found in McLaren’s own Senna GTR and P1 models. The V8 features a flat-plane crankshaft, allowing it to rev to an extraordinary 9,200 rpm, providing a thrilling crescendo of sound and acceleration.
The MHP-8 engine is not just about raw power; it’s a testament to McLaren’s relentless pursuit of lightweight and efficient engineering. It utilizes a lightweight aluminum block and cylinder heads, combined with plasma-coated cylinder bores to reduce friction and improve thermal efficiency. Additionally, the turbocharging system employs twinscroll turbochargers that optimize power delivery and throttle response. The result is a massive 900Nm of torque from the combustion engine alone, available between 4,500 and 5,000 rpm, ensuring blistering acceleration at any speed.
What truly sets the W1’s powertrain apart is its seamless integration with the 347PS E-module, forming a hybrid system that delivers a combined 1,275PS to the rear wheels. The E-module, mounted beside the transmission, features a radial flux electric motor capable of spinning up to 24,000 rpm. It provides instant torque, filling in any gaps in power delivery and enhancing throttle response to deliver a linear surge of
acceleration that feels like a jet taking off. McLaren’s use of the hybrid system doesn’t end with performance gains—its lightweight architecture and strategic packaging contribute to maintaining the W1’s incredibly low curb weight, ensuring the vehicle’s agility and handling remain unmatched.
In developing the W1’s powertrain, McLaren’s engineers focused heavily on optimizing cooling and durability. The hybrid system is supported by a sophisticated cooling network with 10 heat exchangers, ensuring consistent performance under the most demanding track conditions. This meticulous attention to detail not only enhances the W1’s longevity but also underlines McLaren’s commitment to delivering a vehicle that can endure the rigors of both road and track driving without compromising on performance.
The McLaren W1’s engine is more than just a powerplant; it’s the beating heart of a supercar that redefines the boundaries of performance. Its combination of epic power, lightweight construction, and innovative hybrid technology showcases McLaren’s mastery in blending cutting-edge engineering with traditional performance car principles, making the W1 a true testament to McLaren’s racing heritage and forward-thinking design.
Engineering Mastery: Performance Like Never Before
The W1’s performance numbers are nothing short of astonishing. It can sprint from 0 to 100km/h (0 to 62 mph) in just 2.7 seconds and reach 200km/h (124 mph) in a mere 5.8 seconds. From there, it barrels through to 300km/h (186 mph) in under 12.7 seconds, with a top speed electronically limited to 350km/h (217 mph). Not only does the W1 shatter acceleration benchmarks, but it also obliterates lap times, beating the track-focused McLaren Senna by three seconds per lap on McLaren’s reference circuit at Nardo.
Groundbreaking Aerodynamics and Chassis Dynamics
The McLaren W1’s design philosophy
centers around Formula 1-inspired ground effect aerodynamics and advanced lightweight materials. The vehicle’s Aerocell carbon fiber monocoque integrates a fixed seating position, allowing the car to achieve optimal balance and agility. The absence of a traditional front subframe has enabled McLaren to position the steering rack higher and closer to the center of the road wheels, optimizing steering geometry in both Road and Race modes.
The W1 also features a revolutionary McLaren Active Long Tail rear wing, which extends rearwards by 300mm in Race mode, generating a massive 1,000kg of downforce at high speeds. The combination of front and rear active wings, along with the car’s low drag coefficient, ensures exceptional stability and cornering prowess.
The car’s McLaren Race Active Chassis Control III suspension is another marvel of engineering. It provides the ideal blend of compliance and stability on road and track, while the heave springs enhance grip and body control at high speeds. The setup can be adjusted through Comfort, Sport, and Race modes, with Race+ offering an even firmer configuration for perfectly flat surfaces.
Next-Level Driver Engagement
McLaren’s hallmark driver-focused ergonomics are taken to new heights in the W1. The cabin features a unique steering wheel with only two buttons—Boost and McLaren Aero Deployment—reminiscent of Formula 1’s focus on simplicity and precision. This minimalistic approach extends to the cockpit, where the driver is enveloped by the fixed seats integrated into the Aerocell monocoque. The adjustable pedal box and the moving steering column ensure that every driver can find the perfect position, enhancing the sense of connection with the car. The McLaren Hydraulic Performance Steering remains unassisted by driven wheels, preserving its purity of feel and feedback. The W1 also debuts the Anhedral door design, which optimizes airflow from the front wheel arches into the radiators, enhancing cooling efficiency.
Exclusivity and Personalization
With only 399 units to be produced, the W1 is a true collector’s piece. All units have already been allocated, reflecting the intense demand for a car that is set to become an instant classic. Through McLaren Special Operations (MSO), each W1 can be personalized to the owner’s specifications, with bespoke options ranging from innovative interior materials like McLaren InnoKnit to unique paint finishes inspired by Formula 1 livery design.
The Latest of McLaren’s Hypercars
The McLaren W1 follows in the illustrious footsteps of two of the most iconic supercars in automotive history: the McLaren F1 and the McLaren P1TM. The F1, introduced in 1992, set the benchmark for what a supercar could be, with its central driving position, naturally aspirated V12 engine, and revolutionary use of lightweight materials. It was the fastest production car of its time, and its blend of performance, innovation, and purity of design has made it a legend. Two decades later, the McLaren P1TM built on that legacy, pushing the boundaries even further with its pioneering hybrid powertrain and advanced active
aerodynamics, offering a combination of outright speed and agility that few could match. The P1 set a new standard for hybrid hypercars, bridging the gap between road car and track car with its unique ability to seamlessly transform its character at the touch of a button. Now, the W1 represents the next step in this prestigious lineage, merging the purity and driver-focused ethos of the F1 with the cutting-edge hybrid technology and aerodynamic advancements introduced by the P1. It’s a car that honors the past while embracing the future, demonstrating how McLaren continues to redefine supercar performance with each generation.
The Fastest-Lapping, FastestAccelerating McLaren Yet
The McLaren W1 is more than just a successor to the iconic F1 and P1TM—it is a celebration of McLaren’s World Championship mindset and a bold declaration of what the brand is capable of achieving. Whether on the road or track, the W1 promises an experience unlike any other supercar, with a blend of raw power, exquisite handling, and breathtaking design.
As McLaren’s fastest-accelerating and fastest-lapping road-legal car ever, the W1 is set to leave a lasting legacy. It redefines what it means to be a supercar in the 21st century, embodying the spirit of innovation, precision, and performance that has always been at the heart of the McLaren brand.
DRIVING BEHAVIOR IN THE NORTHEAST:
HOW CONNECTICUT, MASSACHUSETTS, AND RHODE ISLAND COMPARE
Driving behavior varies significantly across the United States, and recent data indicates that residents of Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island exhibit notably different tendencies behind the wheel. Based on a comprehensive analysis of various driving behaviors, Connecticut ranks 7th, Massachusetts 17th, and Rhode Island 39th out of all 50 states for the worst driving behaviors. Let ’s take a closer look at what’s contributing to these rankings and how the states compare.
Connecticut: 7th in the Nation for Worst Driving Behaviors
Connecticut’s 7th-place ranking stems from high percentages in several dangerous driving categories. The data shows that nearly 48% of Connecticut drivers admit to speeding by less than 10 mph over the speed limit, while 20% admit to speeding 10-19 mph over the limit. This level of consistent speeding suggests a broader issue with compliance to speed regulations. Additionally, 21% of Connecticut drivers confess to speeding up to catch a yellow light, while 14% have honked, cursed, or gestured angrily at another driver. Texting while driving is less common, with only 3% admitting to this behavior, but changing lanes or turning without signaling is reported by 12% of drivers. Furthermore, 9% of drivers engage in tailgating, and 6% admit to cutting off other vehicles, reflecting a potentially hazardous driving culture. Despite these risky behaviors, accidents caused by these drivers are relatively low at 1%. However, with 20% of respondents not practicing any of the dangerous behaviors listed, there is still a significant portion of conscientious drivers in the state.
Massachusetts: 17th in the Nation for Worst Driving Behaviors
Massachusetts ranks in the middle of the pack at 17th
place, showing slightly better behavior overall compared to Connecticut but still problematic in certain areas. Speeding is less prevalent than in Connecticut, with 36% of drivers admitting to going less than 10 mph over the speed limit, and 15% going 10-19 mph over the limit. Riskier behaviors like speeding up to catch a yellow light are also less frequent, with only 15% of drivers admitting to it.
When it comes to more aggressive tendencies, 13% of Massachusetts drivers change lanes or turn without signaling, and 10% have engaged in honking or gesturing angrily. Tailgating is reported by 4% of drivers, which is comparatively low. However, the data shows that 3% of Massachusetts drivers refuse to yield to another driver, while 5% have cut off another vehicle. Interestingly, the data indicates a small percentage of drivers—2%—have been involved in an accident caused by their driving behavior, highlighting the real-world impact of these practices.
Rhode Island: 39th in the Nation for Worst Driving Behaviors
Rhode Island’s ranking at 39th suggests that drivers in the state generally exhibit safer driving behaviors compared to their neighbors. Speeding is still an issue, with 40% of drivers admitting to traveling under 10 mph over the speed limit and
17% exceeding the speed limit by 10-19 mph. Speeding up to catch yellow lights is acknowledged by 21% of drivers.
Other aggressive behaviors are less frequent in Rhode Island than in Connecticut or Massachusetts. Only 7% of drivers report turning or changing lanes without signaling, while just 7% have honked or gestured angrily at another driver. The data also shows that 8% of drivers admit to speeding 20 mph or more over the speed limit, which is higher than Massachusetts’ and Connecticut’s figures. However, Rhode Island drivers are less likely to tailgate (2%) or cut off other vehicles (2%).
What sets Rhode Island apart from its neighbors is a lower percentage of risky behaviors in school zones and fewer instances of running red lights. However, 1% of drivers in Rhode Island have been involved in an accident for which they were not at fault, and 2% report causing a car accident.
Why These Differences Matter
The variations in driving behaviors between these three states are significant for both residents and policymakers. Connecticut’s higher ranking indicates a need for stricter enforcement and awareness campaigns to curb aggressive driving and speeding tendencies. Massachusetts, with a ranking of 17th, also faces challenges but exhibits lower instances of risky behavior in several categories compared to Connecticut. Rhode Island’s comparatively lower ranking suggests that existing traffic safety measures may be effective, but there is still room for improvement.
This data can serve as a benchmark for local governments to address problematic driving behaviors through better traffic enforcement, public awareness campaigns, and infrastructure changes that promote safer driving habits. As more attention is paid to the specific issues in each state, it’s possible that the driving experience—and overall safety— could improve for everyone on the road.
ADVERTISING ANALYSIS:
BMW’s High-Stakes Gamble with The Hire Series
"The Hire" series by BMW is one of the most innovative and celebrated advertising campaigns in automotive history. Launched in 2001, this groundbreaking project was a series of eight short films produced by BMW to showcase their vehicles in a unique and cinematic way. The series was released in two seasons: the first five films debuted in 2001, and the remaining three were released in 2002.
Origins and Concept
The concept behind “The Hire” was to create content that entertained viewers while subtly highlighting BMW’s vehicles. Instead of traditional commercials, BMW opted for a cinematic approach, enlisting world-renowned directors, actors, and production teams to create high-quality short films. The series starred Clive Owen as “The Driver,” a mysterious, unnamed protagonist who is hired for various high-stakes missions, each showcasing the performance and capabilities of different BMW models. The films were directed by some of the most prominent filmmakers of the time, including:
John Frankenheimer (“Ambush”)
Ang Lee (“Chosen”)
Wong Kar-wai (“The Follow”)
Guy Ritchie (“Star”)
Alejandro González Iñárritu (“Powder Keg”)
John Woo (“Hostage”)
Tony Scott (“Beat the Devil”)
Joe Carnahan (“Ticker”)
These directors brought their distinct styles to the series, making each film feel like a standalone movie with its own tone and narrative. Despite the varied styles, the common thread was BMW’s vehicles, which were integral to the plot and action sequences.
The Impact and Legacy
“The Hire” was a revolutionary campaign for several reasons. First, it was one of the earliest examples of branded content—advertising that entertains rather than directly sells a product. BMW took a risk by investing heavily in a campaign that didn’t feature traditional commercials but instead relied on the films’ storytelling to indirectly promote the brand. The campaign was released online at a time when streaming video was in its infancy, making it a pioneering effort in digital marketing.
The series was a massive success, garnering millions of views and receiving widespread acclaim from both the public and critics. It demonstrated the power of content marketing and set a new standard for how brands could engage with their audiences. “The Hire” won numerous
awards, including the prestigious Cannes Lions, and is still referenced today as one of the best examples of innovative advertising.
The success of “The Hire” also paved the way for other brands to experiment with storytelling in their marketing efforts, leading to a new era of branded entertainment that blends art with commerce.
A Different Approach
One of the most striking and unconventional aspects of BMW’s “The Hire” series was the frequent destruction of the very vehicles they were promoting. This was atypical for automotive advertising, where the primary goal is usually to showcase the durability, luxury, and desirability of a car, rather than subject it to potentially damaging situations. However, BMW took a different approach, using the series to push the boundaries of traditional car advertising.
Why BMW Took the Risk
The destruction of cars in “The Hire” served several purposes. Firstly, it highlighted the cars’ performance under extreme conditions, demonstrating their capabilities in a dramatic and memorable way. By placing the vehicles in high-stakes situations—often involving crashes, high-speed chases, or other forms of mayhem—BMW showcased the engineering prowess and resilience of their cars. This approach emphasized that BMW vehicles were not just about luxury and aesthetics, but also about performance, handling, and safety, even in the most demanding scenarios.
Secondly, the destruction of the cars added to the authenticity and cinematic quality of the films. By treating the cars as part of the narrative rather than just products to be displayed, BMW and the filmmakers were able to cre-
ate more engaging and emotionally resonant stories. This was especially effective given the high-caliber directors involved, who were used to working in Hollywood where action scenes often involve significant vehicle damage.
The Impact of This Strategy
Destroying cars in the series was a bold move that paid off. It differentiated BMW from other car brands that might have been more protective of their vehicles’ image. By allowing their cars to be subjected to—and survive—intense scenarios, BMW reinforced the idea that their cars were built to handle anything, making them appealing to a broader audience, including those who value performance and reliability as much as luxury.
This strategy also contributed to the overall success and impact of the campaign. The visceral, action-packed scenes caught viewers’ attention and made the films— and the cars—more memorable. The fact that BMW was willing to “sacrifice” their cars in such spectacular fashion only added to the mystique and appeal of the brand, reinforcing BMW’s identity as a manufacturer of cars that are not only luxurious but also built for real-world performance.
In essence, BMW’s decision to destroy their cars in “The Hire” series was a calculated risk that ultimately strengthened the brand’s image and left a lasting impression in the world of automotive advertising.
BMW’s “The Hire” series remains a landmark in advertising, showing that with the right creative vision, a brand can create content that resonates with audiences on a deeper level than traditional ads. By blending high-octane action with the luxury and performance of their vehicles, BMW didn’t just sell cars—they told stories that captivated millions and redefined what automotive advertising could be.

REVIEW: The All-New 2025 Lincoln Navigator
A Comprehensive Review and History
Introduction to the Full-Size Luxury SUV Segment
Full-size SUVs are the pinnacle of family utility and luxury. They’re spacious, powerful, and packed with features that cater to the needs of drivers and passengers alike. These vehicles are perfect for large families, long road trips, and anyone who values the versatility of a spacious interior combined with the ability to tow heavy loads. In the full-size luxury segment, competitors like the Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon Denali, and BMW X7 have historically been top contenders, offering varying mixes of power, luxury, and technology. However, the Lincoln Navigator, with its storied history and continued innovation, remains a standout choice for drivers looking for something that seamlessly blends performance and luxury with cuttingedge technology and safety features.
With the introduction of the 2025 Lincoln Navigator, the brand continues to build on its legacy, elevating the standard for what a full-size luxury SUV can offer. Lincoln has incorporated a completely redesigned interior and exterior, enhanced technological offerings, and more advanced driver-assist systems, making it the most sophisticated and capable Navigator to date.
A Brief History of the Lincoln Navigator
The Lincoln Navigator was first introduced in 1997, marking Lincoln’s foray into the large luxury SUV segment. It quickly became an icon, known for its commanding presence and opulent features. Its launch established a new segment—one that combined the rugged utility of a full-size SUV with the luxury and comfort typically found in high-end sedans. The Navigator’s success spurred other manufacturers to create their own luxury SUVs, making it a trendsetter in the automotive industry.
Over the years, the Navigator has gone through several significant changes, evolving through four generations before the release of the all-new 2025 model.
First Generation (1998-2002): The debut Navigator set the stage for Lincoln’s SUV success, featuring a V8 engine and seating for up to eight passengers. It was heavily based on the Ford Expedition but distinguished itself with a more refined interior and
upscale features like a premium audio system and leather seating.
Second Generation (2003-2006):
The second-gen Navigator saw a complete redesign, including an independent rear suspension that provided a smoother ride compared to its competitors. The exterior styling was more angular and modern, and the interior received upgrades like wood trim and advanced safety features. This generation introduced the concept of a luxury SUV that not only performed well but also focused on passenger comfort.
Third Generation (2007-2017): This era marked the Navigator’s transition into a more powerful and tech-focused SUV. A new 5.4L V8 engine provided better performance, while a redesigned interior featured high-end materials, powerdeployable running boards, and additional safety technologies. During this generation, Lincoln also introduced the Navigator L, a longer-wheelbase version with additional cargo space.
Fourth Generation (2018-2024): The fourth-generation Navigator was a gamechanger. It debuted with a bold new design language, a twin-turbocharged V6 engine that replaced the previous V8, and an aluminum body that significantly reduced weight. It introduced advanced technologies such as a 12-inch digital gauge cluster and a 20-speaker Revel audio system. This generation solidified the Navigator as a true competitor to the Cadillac Escalade and other top-tier luxury SUVs.
The 2025 Lincoln Navigator: New Features and Innovations
The all-new 2025 Lincoln Navigator takes the SUV’s legacy to the next level. From its dramatic new exterior styling to its state-of-the-art interior features, the Navigator aims to redefine what a luxury fullsize SUV should be.
Design and Exterior: The 2025 Navigator sports a more modern and dynamic look. It features a signature grille flanked by redesigned lightbars that integrate seamlessly into the front fascia, giving it a strong and confident presence on the road. The new model offers 22-inch wheels as standard, with 24-inch highgloss Ebony or Luster Nickel aluminum wheels available for the first time.
Power and Performance: The 2025 Navigator continues to use the powerful 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine, producing 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, delivering a smooth and responsive driving experience. Standard four-wheel drive ensures the Navigator is capable on a variety of road surfaces and weather conditions. With the available Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package, the Navigator boasts a towing capacity of up to 8,700 pounds, making it ideal for hauling boats, campers, or other heavy loads.
Interior and Comfort: The new Navigator offers an expansive and beautifully designed cabin, loaded with premium materials like genuine wood trim and leather seating. New for 2025 is the Lincoln Digital Experience, a 48-inch panoramic display that spans the entire width of the instrument panel. The display is intuitive and easy to use, with key information placed close to the driver’s line of sight. Another standout feature is the Lincoln Rejuvenate system, a “spa on wheels” experience that uses sight, sound, touch, and scent to help drivers relax during long road trips or while parked.
Rear-seat passengers are treated to first-class accommodations, including power-adjustable, heated, and ventilated captain’s chairs with massage functionality. The third row features Lincoln’s SoftTouch bench seat, providing comfort for up to three passengers. An available Cargo Tailgate Manager transforms the tailgate into a multi-level storage system or a seatback for tailgate events.
Technology and Connectivity: The Lincoln Digital Experience incorporates the latest in connectivity features. It includes a 48-inch panoramic display, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an 11.1-inch touchscreen control panel. For the first time, Lincoln has introduced Pano Mode, allowing the panoramic display to be used for video and gaming apps when the vehicle is parked.
The Navigator is also equipped with Lincoln BlueCruise hands-free highway driving. This advanced system helps reduce the stress of driving by managing braking, accelerating, and steering, making it one of the most advanced driver-assistance features in the segment.
Safety and Driver Assistance: The Navigator is packed with safety features, including Lincoln’s Co-Pilot360 system, which includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane-Keeping Assist, and Automatic Emergency Braking. New driver-assist technologies include Turn Signal View and Intersection Assist, which help drivers navigate busy roads with ease.
Lincoln Black Label Editions: Lincoln has expanded its Black Label offerings for the Navigator with two new themes: Enlighten and Atmospheric. Each theme is meticulously crafted with unique materials and finishes, providing a level of personalization and luxury that sets the Navigator apart from its competitors.
Why the Lincoln Navigator Matters
The Lincoln Navigator has always been more than just a full-size SUV— it’s a symbol of American luxury and craftsmanship. Over the years, it has evolved to meet the changing needs of luxury SUV buyers while maintaining its core values of comfort, performance, and sophistication. The 2025 Navigator continues this tradition with new innovations that make it one of the most compelling options in its class.
Whether you’re using it for family road trips, towing a boat to the lake, or simply enjoying a relaxing drive, the Navigator offers an experience that few other vehicles can match. With its combination of powerful performance, advanced technology, and refined interior, the all-new 2025 Lincoln Navigator is set to raise the bar for luxury SUVs once again.
ACADIA NATIONAL PARK AND BAR HARBOR, MAINE:
A PERFECT NOVEMBER ROAD TRIP DESTINATION
As the hustle and bustle of summer fades and the crispness of late autumn settles in, Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, Maine, emerge as the perfect November road trip destination for those seeking tranquility, natural beauty, and a touch of adventure.
Located on Mount Desert Island, Acadia offers stunning coastal views, serene forests, and rugged mountains that make it an ideal getaway for outdoor enthusiasts and auto lovers alike. Bar Harbor, the charming town on the island’s northeastern shore, provides a mix of history, culture, and local flavors to explore after a day of driving through scenic landscapes.
Why Visit in November?
November in Acadia and Bar Harbor is characterized by cooler temperatures and fewer tourists, making it an excellent time to experience the park’s natural splendor without the crowds. While the park is famous for its stunning foliage in October, the early days of November still showcase lingering colors, contrasted against the evergreen forests and granite cliffs. It’s a great opportunity for photographers and sightseers to capture dramatic seascapes and sunsets. Additionally, lodging and dining options in Bar Harbor are often available at off-season rates, making it more accessible for visitors looking to explore this iconic destination.
The Best Roads for Auto Enthusiasts
For those who appreciate a scenic drive, the roads winding through Acadia National Park are a dream come true. Auto enthusiasts will particularly enjoy the Park Loop Road, a 27mile stretch that circles around some of the most picturesque areas of the park. The road offers smooth, winding turns, elevation changes, and unparalleled views of the coastline, forests, and mountains. Key stops along the way include: Cadillac Mountain Summit Road: Take this three-mile spur to the top of Cadillac Mountain, the highest point on the U.S. Atlantic Coast. From the summit, drivers are rewarded with a 360-degree view that stretches to the Porcupine Islands, Frenchman Bay, and beyond. On clear days, you can even spot Mount Katahdin over 100 miles away.
Ocean Drive Section: This five-mile stretch along the eastern edge of the park offers jaw-dropping views of the Atlantic Ocean, Thunder Hole, and Otter Cliffs. It’s a great place to stop and enjoy the ocean breeze or take a walk along the shore.
Jordan Pond Road: Branching off from the main loop, Jordan Pond Road leads to one of Acadia’s most serene spots. The clear waters of Jordan Pond and the twin peaks of The Bubbles make for a perfect backdrop to a leisurely drive.
The History of Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor
Established as Lafayette National Park in 1919, Acadia was the first national park east of the Mississippi River. It was renamed Acadia National Park in 1929. The park’s roots, however, go back even further, with philanthropist John D. Rockefeller, Jr. playing a key role in its development. Rockefeller, along with other prominent families, donated
much of the land to create a protected space for future generations to enjoy. His influence is still evident today in the park’s iconic carriage roads and stone bridges, which he designed for the public to explore without the intrusion of automobiles.
Bar Harbor’s history is equally captivating. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it was a summer retreat for America’s elite, with families like the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, and Morgans building grand summer cottages along the shore. A devastating fire in 1947 destroyed much of the town, but it rose from the ashes and remains a vibrant hub for visitors exploring the island and Acadia.
What to Do in Bar Harbor
While Acadia’s natural beauty is the main attraction, Bar Harbor is the cultural heart of the island. Visitors can stroll along the Shore Path, a historic walking trail that runs along the coastline, offering beautiful views of Frenchman
Bay and the Porcupine Islands. For a deeper dive into local history, the Abbe Museum offers insights into the Wabanaki people, the original inhabitants of the region.
For those interested in maritime history, consider a boat tour that explores the bay and its many islands. Depending on the season, you might spot seals, porpoises, and even the occasional bald eagle. During the off-season, whalewatching tours are less common, but the scenic beauty of the coastline from the water is a rewarding experience.
Where to Stay
Balance Rock Inn: Overlooking Frenchman Bay, this historic inn offers elegance and comfort. With its stately rooms and on-site dining, it’s a great base for exploring the town and park.
Bar Harbor Inn and Spa: A waterfront property that combines traditional charm with modern amenities, the inn is known for its spectacular views and proximity to local attractions.
Where to Eat
Havana: Known for its creative Latin-inspired cuisine, Havana is a local favorite. The restaurant uses fresh, locally sourced ingredients to create flavorful dishes with a Maine twist.
Side Street Café: A casual spot that’s popular with both locals and visitors, Side Street Café serves up hearty comfort food. Don’t miss their famous lobster mac and cheese.
Jordan Pond House: Located inside the park, this historic restaurant is famous for its popovers and tea service. It’s a great place to relax after exploring the park’s trails.
Plan Your Trip
A November road trip to Acadia and Bar Harbor offers a unique opportunity to see the park and town in a different light. With quieter roads, accessible trails, and a chance to enjoy some of the best views in New England, it’s a destination that auto enthusiasts and nature lovers alike won’t want to miss. Whether you’re taking in the coastal scenery from Park Loop Road or enjoying a quiet evening in Bar Harbor, this trip is sure to leave you with memories that will last a lifetime.
NAVY VETERAN ROB TAYLOR’S CORVETTE PASSION:
A STORY OF SPEED, COMMAND, AND FAMILY
Rob Taylor’s journey to owning his latest pride and joy, a 2024 Corvette E-Ray, is not just the story of a car enthusiast. It’s a reflection of a life well-lived, marked by a distinguished Navy career, a deep-seated love for high-performance vehicles, and a devotion to family that defines him.
Rob’s automotive passion began early, influenced by his father’s cars, and has evolved into a lifelong pursuit of speed and engineering perfection.
“I was born an Army brat,” Rob begins, detailing a childhood shaped by constant moves across the United States and Germany. His father, an Army officer and physician, owned several iconic cars that left a lasting impression on young Rob. One such vehicle was a 1959 Buick Invicta, with its signature “cat-eye” fins and bold styling. “In those days, car seats were just a suggestion,” he laughs. “I’d sit on the bench seat next to my dad, and he’d let me steer.”
Rob’s fascination with cars deepened when his family moved to Germany and he experienced the thrill of the Autobahn in a 1965 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport. “Flying down the Autobahn at warp speed in that Impala—it was exhilarating,”
he recalls. But the car that sealed his passion was a C2 Corvette Roadster, which he spotted for the first time as a child. “It was loud, had side pipes, and I was sold. From that day forward, I knew the Corvette was my dream car.”
From Commanding a Destroyer to a Corvette
While Rob’s love for cars simmered in the background, his professional life took center stage. After graduating from college in Kentucky, he joined the Navy, embarking on a 27year career that saw him rise through the ranks to command both a destroyer and a Destroyer Squadron.
“Commanding a US warship is the ultimate experience. There’s nothing like it,” Rob says with pride. “You’re in charge of 560 feet of American steel, representing the nation
wherever you go.” His service spanned every major national conflict from Grenada to the early 2000s.
When he retired from the Navy in 2008, Rob transitioned into a second career at defense contractor Lockheed Martin, acting as an interlocutor between the military and the company. “I helped them understand the military’s needs, budgets, and operations,” he explains. “It was a great career, but after 14 years, I finally retired for good in Jamestown, Rhode Island.”
A Family of Car Lovers
Rob’s wife, Mary Lou, and their combined family of three sons—Aaron, Alex, and Sean—and Daughter in law Trang, have always been supportive of his passion for cars. “Aaron, lives in Jamestown, and we see him often. Sean and Alex are twins and live in Florida,” Rob shares.
But as a family man, Rob’s car choices were often tempered by practicality. “When I first heard we were pregnant with twins, I had to give up my Datsun 280ZX for a Volvo 740 Turbo Wagon. It wasn’t a sports car, but it was a fun ride.” The Volvo was eventually replaced by a minivan, a necessary compromise for his growing family.
The Cars That Shaped Him
Like many enthusiasts, Rob’s car collection has evolved over the years. His first love was a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air, which he found rusting in a field. “I talked the farmer down to $350. It didn’t run, but with a new battery and some gas, I drove it out of the field,” he recalls. The Bel Air sparked a passion for American muscle cars that would follow him throughout his life.
After the Navy, Rob finally had the means to pursue his dream car. In 2009, he purchased a 2007 Corvette Z06—a car he still considers a beast. “I almost wrapped it up on my first day driving it,” he laughs. “505 horsepower, rear-wheel drive, and cold tires on the AC Expressway… It taught me a lot, fast.”
Rob’s brief ownership of a 2014 C7 Corvette left him longing for something rawer and more visceral. So, when his wife offered to buy him a new Corvette, he set his sights on the top-of-the-line Z06. But a chance encounter at a dealership led him to a new fascination—the 2024 Corvette E-Ray.
The 2024 Corvette E-Ray – A New Frontier
The E-Ray is a hybrid supercar that blends the raw power of a V8 with the precision and efficiency of electric motors. Rob’s E-Ray, finished in Hypersonic Gray with black wheels and a natural tan interior, is a sight to behold. “The color looks different in every light—sometimes green, sometimes gray. It’s almost like having three cars in one,” he marvels.
The car’s all-wheel-drive system and electric front motor offer a level of performance and control that Rob has never experienced before. “Zero to sixty in 2.5 seconds—unheard of,” he says. The E-Ray’s sophisticated driving modes— weather, sport, track, and more—allow Rob to tailor the car’s performance to any situation.
“It’s the perfect balance of power and practicality,” he says. “I can take it out on a back road and unleash it, or I can use stealth mode to slip out of the neighborhood without waking anyone up.” Despite his love for manual transmissions, Rob has come to appreciate the E-Ray’s paddle shifters and seamless gear changes.
Looking to the Future
For Rob Taylor, life has been an extraordinary ride—both on land and sea. His Corvette E-Ray is more than just a car; it’s a testament to a lifelong passion for engineering, speed, and excellence. As he cruises through the scenic roads of Jamestown, it’s clear that Rob’s journey is far from over. With a loving family by his side and the open road ahead, he’s ready for whatever comes next.
FAREWELL TO A LEGEND: THE END OF THE JAGUAR F-TYPE
In the world of automotive design and performance, few vehicles have managed to capture the essence of classic British sports cars while embracing modern technology as successfully as the Jaguar F-Type. With the 2024 model year marking the end of production, the discontinuation of the F-Type signals the close of a significant chapter in Jaguar’s storied history. This month, we pay tribute to the F-Type, exploring its origins, the evolution of its various models and trims, and why it remains an iconic car that will be missed by enthusiasts and collectors alike.
A Look Back: The Birth of the F-Type
The Jaguar F-Type first appeared in 2013 as a spiritual successor to the legendary E-Type—a vehicle Enzo Ferrari famously called “the most beautiful car ever made.” With such a profound legacy to live up to, the F-Type’s development began as far back as 2000 under the codename “X152.” The car was officially unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 2012, and it immediately made a statement with its sleek lines, powerful stance, and unmistakable British flair.
The F-Type was initially offered as a convertible, powered by a supercharged V6 or V8 engine. The base model featured a 3.0-liter V6, delivering 340 horsepower, while the F-Type S boosted power output to 380 horsepower. Topping the lineup, the F-Type V8 S came with a 5.0-liter V8 engine that produced an exhilarating 495 horsepower. These early models were characterized by a focus on agility, sharp handling, and a soundtrack that quickly became a hallmark of the F-Type experience.
Evolution Over the Years: Variants and Upgrades
Over its decade-long production run, the F-Type underwent numerous changes and enhancements, solidifying its reputation as a versatile sports car capable of offering everything from refined grand touring comfort to trackready performance.
2015-2016: Jaguar expanded the F-Type lineup with the addition of all-wheel-drive options and a manual
transmission, catering to driving purists. The F-Type R also made its debut, featuring an upgraded 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine producing 550 horsepower, and capable of launching from 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds.
2017: The F-Type SVR arrived as the ultimate performance variant, boasting 575 horsepower and a top speed of 200 mph, making it the fastest and most powerful F-Type ever produced. The SVR was designed by Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) team, who focused on weight reduction and aerodynamic improvements to achieve blistering performance figures.
2020 Facelift: In 2020, the F-Type received a significant facelift, featuring updated front and rear fascias, slimmer LED headlights, and a refreshed interior with more modern technology. The powertrain options were also revised, and the entry-level four-cylinder turbocharged engine was introduced, providing a more accessible entry point for the lineup without compromising the car’s signature dynamic prowess.
2024 Final Edition: As a nod to its farewell, the 2024 model year features the F-Type 75 and F-Type R 75 special editions. These variants celebrate the car’s final year with exclusive badging, a unique Giola Green metallic paint option, and subtle design flourishes that pay homage to the F-Type’s lineage. The F-Type 75 comes equipped with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine, available in both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive, delivering 450 horsepower. Meanwhile, the F-Type R 75 represents the pinnacle of the series, featuring the 575 horsepower V8 from the SVR.
Differences in Models and Trims
One of the most appealing aspects of the F-Type has been its adaptability across a wide range of driving preferences. Jaguar offered the car in coupe and convertible forms, catering to customers looking for both open-air motoring and a more rigid driving experience. The trims evolved over time, from the base V6 models to the thrilling SVR and exclusive Project 7 editions.
Powertrain Variety: Initially available only with a V6 and V8, the introduction of a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine in 2018 brought the F-Type to a broader audience, though it still maintained a sharp focus on performance. This entry-level engine produced 296 horsepower, delivering strong performance while offering better fuel efficiency.
Drive Configuration: Rear-wheel drive (RWD) was the standard configuration, but the addition of allwheel drive (AWD) enhanced traction and stability, particularly for the more powerful V8 models, making the F-Type a more versatile all-weather performer.
Special Editions: Jaguar produced several limited-edition F-Types, such as the Project 7, which honored Jaguar’s Le Mans-winning D-Type race car from the 1950s. Limited to just 250 units globally, the Project 7 was powered by a 575-horsepower V8 and featured unique bodywork, including a D-Type-inspired rear fairing and bespoke aerodynamic enhancements.
Why the F-Type Was Significant
The F-Type will be remembered as one of the last true sports cars in Jaguar’s lineup, embodying the brand’s commitment to luxury, performance, and design. It was also a critical model for Jaguar, bridging the gap between the past and the future. While the E-Type set the standard for Jaguar’s design language in the 1960s, the F-Type reinvigorated the brand in the 21st century, competing against established rivals like the Porsche 911 and the Mercedes-AMG GT.
In an era when many sports cars have moved toward turbocharging and electrification, the F-Type remained loyal to its supercharged roots, delivering visceral driving experiences characterized by linear power delivery and a roaring exhaust note. Its role in keeping the traditional front-engine, rear-drive sports car alive cannot be overstated, especially as the automotive industry shifts toward electric powertrains.
The End of an Era
As Jaguar transitions toward an all-electric future, the discontinuation of the F-Type marks the end of an era for the British automaker. With its blend of timeless design, potent performance, and a broad range of configurations, the F-Type stood as a symbol of Jaguar’s sporting heritage. For many enthusiasts, it represents a final salute to the internal combustion sports car before the brand shifts its focus to electric vehicles.
Those fortunate enough to own or experience an F-Type will cherish it as a reminder of Jaguar’s legacy of building some of the most beautiful and exhilarating sports cars in the world. It’s a car that will continue to turn heads and thrill drivers long after the last one rolls off the production line.
ACI WRAPS
TRANSFORMING VEHICLES WITH CREATIVITY AND COMMUNITY SPIRIT
Founded by Mike Kelliher and co-owned with Bryce, ACI Wraps in Seymour, Connecticut, has evolved from a small two-bay shop to a 4,000-square-foot facility offering top-notch vehicle wraps, detailing, and paint protection services.
Established nearly a decade ago, ACI Wraps has made its mark on the local community and beyond with a wide range of customization options, from color change wraps for luxury exotics to specialized graphics for motorcycles and even snowmobiles.
What started as a small venture has now become a reputable name in vehicle customization, handling around 75% color change wraps with prices ranging from $2,500 to $3,000 on average. According to Mike, "When we first started, people didn’t really know what vinyl wrapping was. Now, it’s more common, and people even recognize it from platforms like TikTok." This growing awareness has allowed ACI Wraps to expand their offerings to include window tinting, ceramic coating, and paint protection film (PPF).
One of the standout projects Mike and his team took on was a full wrap on a Porsche 918, which cost around $10,000. This wasn’t the most challenging project, however, as that title goes to wrapping four rally cars in just three weeks—all with custom designs. ACI Wraps’ commitment to delivering top-tier service is reflected in their willingness to tackle complex and demanding projects, ensuring that each vehicle leaves their shop looking pristine.
ACI Wraps is not only about the vehicles, though. The business is heavily involved in the local Seymour community, participating in car shows and parades to support local causes. “We try to do as much as we can for the community,” Mike explains, recalling their participation in the annual Christmas parade where they showcase 15-20 wrapped cars. Their involvement in the car community goes beyond their shop, extending to their presence at major industry events like the SEMA Show, where they stay up-to-date with the latest trends and products. With new innovations like dry install PPF and higher gloss finishes, Mike sees the industry continually evolving, and ACI Wraps plans to stay at the forefront of these advancements.
Despite their growth and success, ACI Wraps retains a laidback and friendly atmosphere. “We’re just a bunch of young to middle-aged guys who enjoy what we do. We want to put out a good product and have fun doing it,” Mike says. For him, being able to “put stickers on cars, get paid, and hang out with friends” doesn’t feel like work, but rather, a passion turned profession.
With a unique blend of craftsmanship, customer service, and community involvement, ACI Wraps has positioned itself as a leader in the vehicle customization industry in Connecticut. Whether it’s transforming a Tesla’s look with a chrome wrap or providing high-end detailing for a luxury sports car, ACI Wraps continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in vehicle customization.
