Thanks to its high capacity Lithium-ion Battery, Prius Plug-in can be quickly charged anytime, anywhere in just 3 hours using a standard 120 v outlet. It can also travel on electricity alone for up to 22 km and at speeds up to 100 km/h totally emission-free. And because Prius Plug-in is also a hybrid, you’ll never have to worry about running out of a charge. When the battery runs low, the system automatically switches to Hybrid Mode, which is capable of operating in gas-mode only, electric-mode only or a seamless combination of the two.
