WHO WE ARE The AVA Foundation (AVAF) was founded to support the Association for Vascular Access’ mission: To lead health care by protecting patients and providers and to improve lives. The AVA Foundation serves practicing clinicians interested in vascular access, students in academic programs in related healthcare professions and vascular access patients and their families. The Foundation does this through innovation, research and education. The Foun-
dation is a not-for-profit educational and research organization that is organized as a 501(c)(3). Donations are tax deductible in the U.S. as a charitable contribution. AVAF SCHOLARSHIPS The Foundation provides grants to healthcare practitioners for both specialized continuing education and pre- and post-licensure academic education with a focus on vascular access. These grants encourage grantees to deliver the highest level of vascular access care to patients.

The AVA Foundation provides research grants to develop and evaluate practices, technologies and innovations within the vascular access specialty that may improve clinical outcomes. Grants are competitively awarded after thorough review and assessment by the Foundation’s Board of Directors and subject matter experts. The Foundation supports seminars, panels and education programs that disseminate research and provide updates on trends and innovation in vascular access practice and that stimulate learning and innovation. The AVA Foundation promotes patient education by funding consumer-oriented resources, which may include educational videos, consumer brochures and awareness campaigns. Family and patient resources help ensure that recipients of vascular access services better understand how to participate in their health care.
