Happy Holidays to our readers! The Christmas season has always been one of my favorite times of the year. I grew up in a place where you were guaranteed to have a white Christmas every year, so my memories of Christmas are very much like many of the carols we sing...chestnuts roasting on an open fire, walking in a winter wonderland...we even had jingle bells and dashing through the snow, because my family owned a dinner sleigh ride business!

People do things in Second Life for their own reasons, this is the story of three women who really CARE and do all they do for that reason. I met DebbieDoo Tigerfish at the height of some, let's just say nasty stuff, on a little-known place called the Agency Report. What I loved the most, and what endeared me to this amazing woman, was that she didn't back down. She stuck to her beliefs and what she was doing. From that moment on, she probably got more respect from me than any other person in the history of my Second Life. Our relationship has grown over the years, and that level of respect has also continued to grow.
22
Debbie now owns Audace Fashion School of Modeling and has in her employ, Sidney Abbott and Liberty Lighthouse. When Debbie, Sidney or Liberty do anything as far as Audace, it is obvious they do it because they love it and their dedication to the models is right in line with my dedication to my own agency's models. I have worked with Audace for over three years now and I will always have their backs. So, get comfortable and grab some snacks, and let's hear from these three ladies that I not only call colleagues, but sisters.
Issue 15 December, 2017 | L’Amour Diversity Magazine
Hi ladies, thank you so much for sitting down with me and answering all of my questions. Ava: How did the three of you become part of the wonderful world of Second Life? Debbie: Wow, it was such a long time ago now. I spend a lot of my time with work in faraway places, and heard that SL was a great way to keep in contact with home. So, I came here to keep in contact with my sister. We never did hookup in SL, how funny is that. Sidney: My husband joined SL and told me that I might find it an interesting place to see. I had never played a
virtual game before, but after he told me I could go anywhere in the world, I was encouraged to check it out. I wanted to see all the places I could visit and make friends from other countries from the comfort of my home. It was a wonderful social platform to meet people and see beautiful places. Liberty: I heard about SL on a TV show called CSI, so a few days later after watching the show I went on the web to read about it, then decided to research role play Sims. Ava: What did you do when you first came to Second Life? Debbie: I went to Frank's Elite, met

a lovely friend of mine there, who in RL is in a wheelchair and we would go for walks everywhere. I kept bumping into things...and she thought that was funny. It really showed me that SL made dreams come true. She could walk and fly and do all sorts of things that she couldn't do in real life. It was just a lot of fun. Sidney: I explored! I had no idea what I was doing and flew all over the place. I once landed on someone's house and the owner came out and began talking to me. Come to find out she was from Switzerland and soon began teaching me the tricks of navigating around SL. She challenged me to try things and she would tell her friends that a stork dropped me off on her roof! I became her baby Sidney. I guess I would have to say she was my SL mentor and even today we are still friends! Liberty: I love to role play, and I love the wild west. I found the Tombstone sim and I have been role playing there off and on for seven, close to eight years now. Ava: What made you get into the fashion industry in Second Life? Debbie: I couldn't walk straight and heard at modeling school you could learn to do it. I still can't walk straight, maybe I should ask for my money back lol. Sidney: I was meeting people and one of those people was a model in SL. I did not even know that there was such a thing as modeling in SL. She invited me to one of her fashion shows. After the show I was hooked! I wanted to become a model and walk the runway. She introduced me to the owners, Steve and Anrol of Classic With Style (CWS) and I enrolled as a model student. This started

Ava: Tell me what hs been the inspiration for for each of you at Liberty: My friends who had known me two years told me I had a great eye Audace? for fashion and I agreed with them and decided I would make a great model. Debbie: I had left CWS, and I had said some cruel things about the owners So, I did some research on modeling there...that meant I couldn't change my and came across CWS. I enrolled in the April 2012 class there, and graduated mind, as I really did regret leaving. So along with Mesange MaryA and Maggie as valedictorian of my class, I am continuing my education in modeling Spires we decided let's start our own

school, not to compete with CWS, but as a replacement for our boredom. We started off with a 1/4 sim and one or two students, but the dream was started. Sidney: Debbie was my mentor at CWS. When CWS closed I went over to Audace to watch a few shows as I really missed modeling. I spoke to Debbie and asked if I may join Audace. She welcomed me to Audace and once again, I was with some of my friends who were from CWS. It felt right! I knew these ladies and I was thrilled that I could work with them again. Debbie always made Audace feel like family and I wanted to be a part of that! So, to answer your question being with Audace and feeling like I was with family inspired me. Liberty: I love helping others, and I know everyone loves fashion in their own way, and wants to show the world their self-worth. Here at Audace you can be yourself. Ava: How did the three of you meet? Debbie: I met Liberty and Sidney at CWS, I was a trainer there, and they were my poor unfortunate students. However, they forgot all I taught them and that's why they became great models. In all honesty these ladies were like shining lights and I am so grateful and lucky that we met, and became such great friends. Sidney: As I said, Debbie was my instructor and mentor at CWS. She was always available to assist me and after spending time with her, I realized that we would become friends. I adored her sense of humor and knew what a generous and kind person she was with everyone. I admired that about Debbie. I met Liberty when she became a
model with CWS. One of the instructors introduced the two of us and it was an instant connection. We have been close friends ever since. These two ladies are my closest friends and I can even call them sisters! Liberty: I love Sidney and Debbie with all my heart, I have known both of these wonderful ladies since 2012. I met them at CWS. Debbie was one of the instructors and Sidney was a model. Ava: How did you decide to work together? Debbie: I asked them, and they said yes. Why did I ask them? Simple really, they are wonderful friends and amazing models. Sidney: Debbie asked me to become an instructor at Audace. She knew my heart was in modeling and shortly after she promoted me to COO. This was an opportunity for me to spread my wings! I love working with the models in all capacities and love to see them grow. I have truly enjoyed being a part of Audace and I know that my decision to be a part of this team was the absolute right thing to do. Liberty: Two years ago, Debbie wanted to close Audace. Sid ask me to come and help her make Audace what it is today, I was more than happy to come here and help. Ava: What inspires you all in what you do? Debbie: The fun of helping dreams come true, look at all the models we have trained over the years. Sure, not all remained models, but all of them lived a dream that in many cases they cannot live in RL. It isn't an escape from RL,

because you can't do that, but for the moments they are here, they lead a life that only other lucky ladies lead. When it stops being fun then I stop too...but that will never happen. Sidney: That's easy! I love working with models! I have been directing and producing fashion shows for Audace for almost wo years. I have the chance to work side by side with the models and have gained so much knowledge from them. I have also met some lovely designers and have made friends with them. I truly admire their creativity and am honored to work side by side with them and show their creations in fashion shows. It is awe inspiring to be a part of this! The fact that we can make dreams come true for these ladies and gentlemen in SL is what truly inspires me.
We watch students go through the courses, graduate and go out in the SL fashion world with confidence and pride, that is what makes it all worthwhile! Liberty: Audace to me is bred by fashion and friendship. Audace empowers strong models, encouraging everyone. If a model makes a mistake there is no nasty message going to them. The model knows and that is all that is needed. Ava: What do each of you do at Audace? Debbie: I am the cleaner. I make sure the runways are clean and sparkly before shows, and that the classrooms are all nice and smelling of polish. I help as much as I can when needed, as sadly my time is limited in SL. Without Sidney, Liberty and of course Zee, Audace would not be what it is.
Liberty: Fashion is my passion, it is the one thing that drives me to excel. I have always wanted to help other models Sidney: I am Debbie's right-hand enhance their love for fashion. woman. Because of a demanding RL career, Debbie cannot be on SL as Ava: Describe to the Diversity readers much as I can, so I make sure to handle what Audace is to each of you? anything I can to ensure that Audace runs smoothly. Debbie: In my mind a business is something you ultimately do for personal gain, financially. We don't make money at Audace so in that sense it's not a business. However, it is a business for showcasing fashions and teaching new models, giving them the foundation to go on and do more in SL fashion. We are also in the dream-making business and are somewhat good at that. Sidney: As Debbie said, Audace is not a business. It is a platform for many people to come to and have their dreams become a reality. I am fortunate enough to be a part of making dreams come true. I will have to quote what Debbie said we are a dream-making business!
Ava: Tell the readers what some of your plans are for Audace are in the future? Debbie: That is an easy one, it's to take us to the next level. To run high end shows, to have a school that is full every month, that is a challenge as there are so many schools in SL. We don't aim to be the best, that is like saying we are better than others, however, we aim to be professional, popular and fun, for models and designers of all levels.
Sidney: For me, it is to continue doing high-end fashion shows. Because of our shows we are getting models from all over the grid who are interested in being in our shows. It is always rewarding to have a model contact me Liberty: Making everyone happy, we try and ask how they can be involved with our best and somehow seem to it done. Audace. Liberty: We want Audace to keep growing, we have close to 100 models and would love to have 100 more. I know we have talked about a Flicker, Sidney: If there is a misconception, then web page and a Facebook in the future. I am unaware of it. Either they are green with envy, or they lack confidence in their own schools. Thank you, ladies for sitting down with me and opening up for the readers of L'Amour Diversity Magazine and for being so real and honest in ths process. Most importantly, for being three of the dearest people in my life. Don't let any of the rumors fool you readers of Diversity, because these are three ladies that do care to the depths of their souls. Spooktacular Event:
The Halloween Party!
A review by Rhiannon Colclough On October 28, 2017 at 1pm SLT, L'Amour Productions brought an early Halloween vibe to SL with the 2nd Annual Spooktacular Event: The Halloween Party. It was a gorgeously wicked and wild show where the audience almost vied for attention with the models, and the setting seemed even more ghoulish than models and audience put together! Rienna Iron was the Model Director and Ava Jhamin was the Producer/ Director of the Spooktacular 2017 and MC'd the event. Web models, Trinity Aironaut, Jazzy Teardrop, and Hadley Carrington swayed on the walls as they hung suspended in webbing. You couldn't help but feel sorry for them, after all, being a spider's potential dinner is not a lot of fun! Greeters, Sarah Brenham and Aimee Hambleton added to the frightfully fun atmosphere; especially Sarah as a Christmas elf gone bad!
show, but sadly Barbie had to leave SL, so the show was changed slightly and was dedicated to Barbie. The models for the show were as follows: Resmay Bloodstorm-Coba Sheila Style Brice Meda JewelOfDeNiel Liberty Lighthouse Herb Carnell Kitty Darkrage Piea Whskywolf Lighthouse Catalysis Sheva St.Claire And oh, the amazing outfits they modeled as they wended their way around the catwalk!
Resmay began the show, with a spectacular outfit - she came out as a scorpion, then in a puff of smoke, she changed into the Scorpion As a side note: This show was to Goddess, dressed in gold. This also originally be a B Barbie Spooktacular set the tone for the show, as Sheila

The audience was thrilled with these offerings and in their second walks: Resmay entered the runway as a Ruby Demon Queen, Satan's right-hand witch. Sheila, as the porcelain-skinned, ethereal Goddess of Death. Brice, as a matador looking for beings to kill. Jewel, as a very creepy clown whose balloon creations are dangerous. The other models were just as Liberty, as a Scottish lass, playing varied, and at times frightening! the bagpipes with hair that was Liberty came out as a fish woman quite stylized. invented a spaceship that could go to other worlds. He was just trying to save his civilization from humans who would come to his planet and destroy it! Sheva came out as a pink and white dragon called Dragonetta, who liked to set things on fire and had very sharp claws. Then... the finale! For that walk, the models came out two by two, from opposite sides of the runway and walked to their spots on the runway. They posed as the audience went crazy, cheering and whistling at one horror-ific show! When a Little French is a Must
I met Loreleil Coeur through a mutual friend and instantly loved her. Lore, as her friends call her, is a warm, caring person and it comes across instantly when you meet her. I will be doing this story with her SL brother, Mikhail Thor, who will be translating from French to English as we present this story in both languages. How fun right?
I find her a breath of fresh air, along with her brother Mikhail Thor, owner of Iron Craft Design, and builder of one of the most beautiful sims I have ever seen. I sat down with both Loreleil and Mikhail to get her story. Hello to both of you my friends, I want to go ahead and just dive in head first to the questions for Loreleil.
I sat down with Loreleil to find out Ava: How did you become part of the what makes this amazing French wonderful world of Second Life? woman tick, and design just beautifully.

Ava: From where do you get your ideas for your designs? Lore: Mon metier RL esthéticienne, me mene naturellement à regarder tout ce qui touche à la mode, les tendances, les couleurs, les styles. My RL business as a beautician leads me naturally to look at everything related to fashion, trends, colors and styles. Ava: What are the challenges for you in running a business on Second Life? Lore: Le plus dur je pense c'est se démarquer, se faire connaître, trouver sa place au milieu des grands. Nous n'avons pas tous les meme moyens de communication, mais faut croire en nous, et garder le plaisir de ce qu'on fait. The hardest thing I think, is to stand out, to make yourself known and find your place among the great designers. We do not all use the same means of communication, but must believe in ourselves, and enjoy what we make. Ava: Tell the readers what are some of your plans for Lore'A in the future? Lore: L'avenir je l’espère c'est créer des mesh originaux, ça demandera encore du temps, mais surtout garder une dimension humaine, pour toujours venir sur SL par plaisir. Car, Second Life doit

rester un lieu de détente, ou on prends plaisir à ce que l'on fait. In the future, I hope to create original mesh, it will take more time, but one must always be sure to keep a humane space with oneself and to be sure to always leave time for fun; Because, Second Life must remain a place of relaxation, where we enjoy what we do. Ava: What are some changes in the industry that you have seen in the fashion industry? The creation of designer's groups under the same brand, which has led to more creations per month, more financial strength, and communication. Fashion shows have lost their magic and designers have begun to use blogs to show their designs, which to me is an obvious complement to the blogs, it is a

Mais, j’espère bien dans le futur pouvoir le faire en attendant je travaille avec certains modèles de mes relations pour les photos vendors. Et un jour, j'aimerai les voir sur un runway spéciale "Lore'a" So, I have some bloggers, whom I thank very much for their invaluable help, and their talent. But as a young designer, I still have not the means to occupy models, But, I hope well in the future I can do it. Meanwhile I work with some models of my relations for photos Vendors. L'Amour 40th Pazzo Style Challenge By: Ava Jhamin October 2012, the 1st L'Amour Pazzo Style Challenge went from a vision to a reality for me. I wanted a style challenge that would test the models and keep them on their toes with their peers. Well, we are now celebrating our 40th Pazzo Style Challenge in October 2017, which marks the 5th anniversary for L'Amour Pazzo Style Challenge. We have done a lot of very unique and different stylings, letting the models do a lot of "Your Way" challenges. I feel it's important to let the models style their way as compared to most of the fashion industry, where people just style and add accessories. Thank you to all the models past, present, and future who will be participating in the L'Amour Pazzo Style challenge for many more years to come.
In October, I usually do something that has to do with Halloween, but I wanted to give applauds and kudos to our service men and women around the world. Our 40th Pazzo was Veteran's Day Your Way. Our winner is.......... Brice Meda who did the most amazing job and worked very hard and it showed. He not only exemplified a service man in my opinion, but I loved the fact that his flag was both Canadian on one side and the United States on the other. He wowed the judges with playing the Canadian National Anthem and walking out dressed in formal service attire carrying the flag. Job well done Brice. Other participants in the 40th pazzo were:

Thank you to all that participated and know, that there were literally points that separated you all.

As models, most of us have heard the real life arguments about body sizes, especially as pertains to modeling. What is too thin or too big? Should male models be ripped? What is a perfect model? These controversies exist in real life, so how is the SL modeling world dealing with these issues? The Model's Workshop's Sabine Mortenwold held a FashionDish on just that topic, and the opinions were are as varied as the attendees present!
which allow the dimensions to be changed more easily without looking strained I think?"
The first issue was to determine what "normal" is - and that didn't seem to be adequately addressed. It was indicative of the whole discussion; consensus was almost impossible to find. The discussion was very civil, though, and provided much food for thought.
"The tall, thin, stick model still seems to be the norm though, and I have wondered if couture models were super thin and tall specifically to save money on fabric in the industry. As you say, catalog and swimsuit models have traditionally had more natural, fuller bodies."
"Even in the industry you have categorizations. Curvier models did the swimsuits, lingerie etc. People have commented on my height 'oh you're so tall,' but it was never in a negative way, until just recently. I don't think my being tall affected my ability to get work."
Some of the statements show the vast disparity in views. (names deleted to protect privacy):
"Maybe it depends on what kind of modelling work you do. It was explained to me that you must be taller to work on a runway because the sets are so big. "I know some agencies want tall models, But in a store - probably a shorter shape but some places are talking about having would be better simply because it's a models in a more realistic size. I have more 'intimate' space I think more natural found that the average height of a model is getting to be the norm now like models has gotten slightly shorter of the last few not wearing heavy makeup - that is a years and the "curves" have increased. more natural look." I attribute that mostly to mesh bodies,

Issue 15 December, 2017 | L’Amour Diversity Magazine
"I think that is how the "tradition" started for super thin models and it kind of stuck as a media bias that "thin was in" In SL, we don't have that sort of limitation, it is only in the mind of society to be limited. I think be true to who you want to portray as a model, since it is about you and that's it."
use. I don't think any one body has the best fit, but it is probably easier on designers who specialize in one or two mesh bodies rather than try to please everyone. I have noticed that many designers are going "exclusive" to try to remedy the issue."
"For any casting I would try to do what is requested, but I feel it should be clearly "I think in SL we do what the designer outlined what they [designers] want. I wants most of the time I know I have had to change shapes to fit things right. think times are changing but slowly and I just use the one body, one shape. Don't case by case." get asked to change and most of the designer's stuff is for Lara anyway." "Yes, way I see it is we are a modified hanger for whatever the designer wants to showcase we just try and make it look "I find when I am on the larger side as good as we can and help to make it clothes don't fit and I get frustrated. It's easier with the clothes made for the more appealing." mesh body but with just standard sizing I always knew clothes would fit if I was in "I prefer when they clarify what they mean by requesting "average" was in a the XS/S range." few shows and had same shape and was told in one I was too thin in another I was "Even with stuff made for Lara, I have told I was chubby." found I need to change a few things to get it to fit right, especially with posing. "One time I was at a print job and I was then you have designers still only with told to go shorter, so I wore my every just mesh or fit mesh and it doesn't fit day shape - not a big deal, and then too well." other shows they wanted us to be curvy "I will change shapes if I must for a show, for lingerie." but if I can go with the shape I normally
"I usually do switch my shape to fuller and curvier for swimsuit and lingerie, but then what does that do to your brand as a model to keep changing? For a specific show sure, but if every agency wants you to have a different shape then what?" "Maybe it shows adaptability, I just stay myself, and I just don't cast for things that require me to be an Asian lizard. I guess if the agency has been hired by a designer that has items for a shape or style then they should cater to the designer. But I also think if this is the case that it should be very clear when casting what exactly it is your looking for in the models for that show. You don't cast and then say change, that is just wrong on every level." "It's up to you who you are and if doesn't fit you then move it on down the road. I was always curvy and if an agency didn't like it I thanked them and moved on. I prefer not to change my shape if I must but sometimes I have to to make an outfit look right. I'd rather be my normal shape, because not everyone is the same if we were we would all look like a Barbie dolls, which of course if Barbie was real to life would be 11 feet

tall, lol." "Well I think being different can show something the designers didn't even think about as well." "Proportion is important. I think that's important - looking like "us." My experience with mesh heads taught me that none of them looked like me and I felt awful wearing them. Now they are Bento and it's a bit better. But, if suddenly I was told I had to be short and heavier, I would find that frustrating." "In the end, most people seemed to agree on bodies being in proportion. Does adapting to a designer's viewpoint make you less you? If you refuse to adapt, should the designer be willing to go with your shape? It almost gets into an existential argument; if your shape changes, does that mean you, aren't you? If so, WHO THEN, ARE YOU?" What do you think? dancing beauty in her shop, Gin's Boutique. A group of us had gone there to pick up ballet costumes for my first video for the POE 10 event and in walks this tiny, lovely ballerina. She is as kind and generous as she is beautiful. In this issue of L'Amour Diversity magazine, we have chosen share the story of Gin, one of the many generous shop owners participating in the POE 10 hunt. Trinity: Tell me about yourself. Gin: I've been on the grid since May of 2008. I just saw what I wrote, wow, that

really is a long time. I have a full time real job for a wireless phone company in the Fraud Management Department, and between work and travel time, I'm gone 11 hours a day. I would like to learn Blender, but I need a book on Blender for Dummies. In Second Life, I'm a collector of textures, I love all the textures and can't seem to get enough of them. In real life, I collect dust because I spend too much time in Second Life. Trinity: Describe to me what style of clothes that Gin's Boutique has? Gin: The boutique has mostly ballet outfits with a few turn of century dresses and a few Gor outfits tossed in. I think ballet clothes speak for itself on the style. I got a bit bored of making ballet clothes, so I tried making other dresses, all with flexi skirts to see what I could do. The flexi skirts have movement, and if you're dancing on stage in a ballet outfit you want movement, that is what ballet is about. Quick story: In my first year in Second Life I went out dancing with a friend of mine to a ballroom club. There was a couple there and the female avatar had on this huge flexi skirt. It was so big, you couldn't see her partner. I think I was crying from laughing so hard, and looking back on it, maybe that is why flexi skirts went out of fashion? Trinity: Is there a charge to join your group and do you offer group gifts?
a month, I would maybe then create a group. Trinity: Do you have a favorite piece and is there a story behind it? Gin: I really don't have a favorite. I make an outfit and say, that is beautiful and my most favorite until I make the next one. I guess that makes me fickle, huh? I am bit partial to my Sleeping Beauty series, I think because of the beautiful textures and all the detail on the outfits. Trinity: Do your Clothes have huds for multiple colors and textures? Gin: ALL my clothes have huds that work with Belleza, E-Body, Maitreya, Omega, and Slink. I also included system clothes for avatars that don't have mesh bodies. There is no texture changer included in any of my outfits, but there is a color hud included in a couple of male outfits that have sashes. Trinity: Do you have unisex, kids, Male and Female items? Gin: No unisex clothes, but yes, I make kids, male and female clothes. I know I said no unisex clothes, but I do have a couple of male customers that bought my female outfits and wear them. For some reason, men like those tutus. I sent out an update one day, and it was to a guy, I sent him an IM to make sure he was the correct person, and he told me he sometimes wears the outfit out dancing with his girlfriend to get a laugh. But he did say, "But the outfit is made really well," he didn't want me to think he was making fun of my outfit. Isn't that a sweet thing to say?
Gin: We will be doing this in the future. There is no group. I don't generate enough sales to set up a group. Most avatars prefer mesh clothes, not my system clothes. Sometimes I sell 20 outfits a month, so I don't see a need yet to create a group. Since my genre of Trinity: Do you make custom pieces? clothes are so specific, there isn't much demand. But if I start selling 200 outfits Gin: No, not at this time, I might be L’Amour Diversity Magazine | Issue 15, December 2017

ballet outfits. I'm just starting to make male ballet outfits, but I don't think I'll get carried away making as many for men and I do for women. The women in Second Life are the clothes hounds, not the men.
Trinity: Do you release new items in seasons, or just when they are finished? Trinity: Anything else you would like our readers to know that I didn't ask you Gin: I make an article of clothing when I today? come up with an idea, and then release it. I have gone a couple of months Gin: I started creating outfits in May without making anything and then I find of 2016. I am going to start this story with a song from my childhood. I always thought it was the greatest thing to have a horse talk with his own will. One of my favorite shows growing up besides My Friend Flicka, was Mr. Ed. A horse is a horse, of course, of course, And no one can talk to a horse of course. That is, of course, unless the horse is the famous Mr. Ed. Go right to the source, and ask the horse, he'll give you the answer that you'll endorse. He's always on a steady course. Talk to Mr. Ed. A horse is a horse, of course, of course, And no one can talk to a horse of course. That is, of course, unless the horse is the famous Mr. Ed. Go right to the source and ask the horse He'll give you the answer that you'll endorse. He's always on a steady course. Talk to Mr. Ed. People yakkity yak a streak and waste your time of day. But Mister Ed will never speak unless he has something to say. A horse is a horse, of course, of course, And this one'll talk 'til his voice is hoarse. You never heard of a talking horse? Well listen to this. I am Mister Ed. Source: Lyrics On Demand

Earlier in the year, I was working with the Home & Garden Show for Relay for Life. I had all the L'Amour models coming over and taking turns on pose stands, posing as home & garden stuff. One of the times I was working my shift, I was standing there camming around and saw the most beautiful horse avatar I had ever seen in my life. Understand, that I am a huge horse fiend and have been since I was three years old in real life. So, of course, I jumped off the stand and went on a search for this beautiful horse I had glimpsed through my camera view. I finally found AppaloosaHorse, (Appy to her friends.) I asked her if I could take some pictures and she was very willing. What a sweet, kind horse she is, and we spent hours talking about her Second Life. When all was said and done, I gave Appy the landmark to my land and said her whole family was welcome to graze and be on my land anytime. Since then, I have continued to talk with Appy when I have seen her on my land. One day, I had a light bulb moment, let's do a story for L'Amour Diversity on the horses of Second Life. Most would say, "big deal, a horse is a horse, of course, of course." But what you may not know, and what's interesting, is in their Second Life, there is love, and family unity. They work in Second Life at work different jobs. It's more of a family unit than most that I have seen on Second Life. So please, sit down and read a little story of the Horses of Second Life; more than meets the eye.
I went over to my land and let them run free and be horses while we chatted. I had each one of them answer questions for me so that the readers could get to know what this part of Second Life is about. I have Appy of course, and all her friends and fellow horses of Second Life.
Ava: Why did you want to be a horse in Second Life?
Appy: I live in an isolated area, on a horse ranch where we board and breed horses. Second Life provides me with social environment to meet likeminded individuals where otherwise I would have little chance to socialize.
Appy: I am a police horse, trained at Bellabrook Police Academy, Animal Division and worked for Makalu County Sheriff Department for a of couple years and then relocated to Beaverdale Police Department where I received a promotion and am ranked Sergeant.
Appy: Horses are my passion in life. My entire life centers around horses: the care and training, the bonding between my horses and myself. Why would I not be a horse, if given the choice? I would Hi Appy, I am so glad were finally able to like to be treated as nicely by humans, as I treat my horses. talk about your family and your life on Second Life. Ava: What kinds of jobs do you do as a horse in SL? Tailsworth: I currently don't have any job as a horse. I spend most of my time socializing with other horses, humans and some others. In the past, I was a police horse for Makalu County sims and achieved the rank of Deputy. Ava: Can you tell the Readers of Diversity what a day in your life as a horse is like? Tailsworth: I spend a lot of my time grazing, but when I'm not doing that, I listen. A horse listens a lot, it's very important. Occasionally, if you listen enough, you can learn things and help people. Some people just want someone to listen, and a horse is a perfect listener (and we can never tell a secret!) Ava: What does that entail exactly to have a horse family? Tailsworth: A lot of care is taken, the stallion(s) must watch out for the band or herd and make sure everyone is safe. We follow behind looking for trouble and pulling stragglers back to the group as we move along. Ava: Are there pros and cons to being a horse on Second Life? Tailsworth: The pro is that you get a lot of admiration, especially from children. People are generally kind to horses and hold them in high esteem. The con is finding an "owner" who will give you the care and attention you need. It's also a challenge to find other horses to hang out with. Ava: Do you as a horse have just one mate? Tailsworth: I have a lot of love to give, and as a horse it is no different. Being a horse makes me feel more free to give my love and offer protection and stability to others. During my time as a horse I have had many loves, but only a couple mates.
Ava: Do you have a bloodline on Second Life as a horse? Tailsworth: I'm unsure of my bloodlines. I've been compared to a Missouri Fox Trotter, but I think I most closely resemble the Chilean horse. The next horse I spoke with was Birdit. Yes, folks I have always talked to the animals, smiles. Ava: What brought you to Second Life? Birdit: The opportunity to meet new people and hopefully, if given a chance, give them a better day if their real life one was not the greatest. Ava: Why did you want to be a horse in Second Life? Birdit: Horses have been known for their majestic beauty and all their grace. I found that being a horse gives me the option to escape the classic human avatars where people still judge you as if it's real life. As a horse, it makes it harder for others to just shove you off in a category, since well, you're an animal. Ava: What kinds of jobs do you do as a horse in SL? Birdit: I work as a carriage horse pulling carriages. At times, I work on the police force, and when not doing those things, I'm a therapy horse and show horse. Ava: Can you tell the readers of Diversity what a day in your life as a horse is like? Birdit: Diversity in the horse community is as vast and ever flowing as the human one, the only difference, you're

a horse. I am the gentle type. I tend to the young riders that enter the riding facilities when no other horse can or will. Lately, my day consists of show training, mostly because of the events at the stable where I am registered as a host. But when not on the track, jumping over beams or learning the lines of Dressage, I am a carriage horse. I pull carriages for weddings and such when someone so wishes. Currently, my life as a police horse is coming to an end, for many sims that would accept animal Role Players is shortening, putting a lot of us out of work. As a horse, it is growing harder, because of the lack of human avatars willing to own and care for my fellow equines. But we keep at it, doing our best to cling onto the hope that one day the human activity for our community will grow. As horses, we come in many shapes, colors, designs and personalities. The only thing we lack is opportunity. Ava: Do you have horse families? Birdit: Yes, I have two: one in which I have my mother, father and my siblings and the other consists of my close friends, that are like a family to me. Ava: What does that entail exactly to have a horse family? Birdit: There isn't much to define a horse family, since really it's different for everyone. For me, personally, a horse family is a band of those that clump together in a "herd" and enjoy their time together, be it standing around or going for a run. Birdit: Like everything on SL, there are ups and downs. Even as a horse avatar, you can get sexual advances by humans and other horses alike. Then there are those who shun you for not being a classic human. But past all of that, you get a means of freedom and at the end of the day, for the people that enjoy horses and love role playing, it's a good option. Not to mention, the horse community is extremely friendly, helping each other if able. Ava: Do you as a horse have just one mate?
"Night's a Sports Friesian mare or for those that don't mind her white accents, she is a Friesian that is used for both showing and as a therapy horse. When carriaging was a big thing, I used to pull carriages for parties and such. But since the community is not well known, that job for her has long passed. Though she still serves as an emotional support and confidence builder to those that need it. As of now she resides at BlackHawk an RP sim for those who enjoy the equine sports and in all, just horses."
I want to thank all the horses that Birdit: I have never had a mate, and came together with me to write this if I was to get one, I'd only have one story. Picture Father Christmas as a woman. Italian children wait for Befana; a kind old witch (not like those Norwegian ones) who flies around on her broom delivering gifts. She fills their stockings with toys, candy, and fruit, if they have Iceland's Jólakötturinn - a mythical beast been good, or a lump of coal, onions, or garlic, if they have been bad. Those who worked hard would be rewarded with new clothes. Those who did not would have to make do with that year's rags - leaving them to the wrath of the Yule Cat, who apparently has a hatred of the scruffy.

Ukraine
Instead of glittering ornaments and tinsel, Ukrainian Christmas trees are uniquely covered with artificial spiders and cobwebs. Why the eccentric taste in decorations you might ask. According to the local folklore, there was a woman who could not afford to decorate their Christmas tree. But the next morning, her children woke up to see the tree covered with webs and when the first light of Christmas morning touched the web threads, they turned into gold and silver and the family was never left for wanting again. Hence, it is believed that seeing a spider web on Christmas morning brings good luck. lovehomeswap.com
