Maribel Gomez Cordero Happy August! Now that August has arrived, we are only a few days away from the return to classrooms on August 10th. In light of this, I would like to invite everyone to the Back to School event that I am hosting on Saturday, August 6th. The event will take place from 11am to 2pm at the Meadow Woods Recreation Center. We will be giving away school supplies such as backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and pens. We will also have representatives from various Orange County agencies and nonprofits. The event promises to be a good time, so I hope to see you there. Additionally, I will also be a hosting a food drive in partnership with Advance Senior Center and Second Harvest Food Bank. The food drive will be held at CDA Church at 7051 Pershing Ave,
Orlando FL 32822 starting at 9:30am. Another important event occurring in August is the biannual primary election. The election will take place on Tuesday, August 23rd. However, early voting is available at various locations throughout Orange County starting on August 8th and lasting through to August 21st from 9am to 7pm. You can go to https://ocfelections. com/early-voting to find the early voting site closest to you. Voting is one of our most basic civil rights, and I encourage everyone to exercise it by voting on or before August 23rd.
