Creating A Wedding that is Uniquely Yours
This time of year truly is the season of love. Did you know that about 40% of proposals occur between Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day? If you and your significant have recently became engaged, congratulations! Now let the planning begin… Here at Ever Ella we love assisting couples with creative touches on their special day. To ensure a memorable event use inspiration from your own love story to make your wedding day unique to you. Here are some tips of how to do just that…
Start with a Theme
Rustic, beachy, vintage… It seems these days there are so many Pinterest ideas for wedding event style. A wedding theme should show off your personality as a couple. And that theme should be established first and incorporated into details throughout. Here are some ideas to get started picking a theme:
• Inspiration from a moment such as first date, favorite memory, or the proposal
• Favorite locations you have been together (or want to go together!)
• Favorite hobbies/activities you enjoy together
• What is your fashion sense like? Sporty, casual, preppy, classic?
• Favorite things (food, movies, music, etc.)
• A love for a certain season or holiday
• Favorite colors or overall décor theme Some couples go all out with a very specific theme while others may decide on a more subtle aesthetic. Even if you settle on a great color palette or use flowers as inspiration for a garden-themed wedding can become a theme if carried throughout different elements. Just make sure when you do land on your idea, try to be as specific as possible. For example, some vendors may have different interpretations of what “vintage” means and that can create disjointed results.
Develop your “Couple Brand”
Let’s say you pick a theme such as a beach wedding, how does your beach wedding stand out from everyone else’s? This is where you should think about your wedding similarly to a company would develop their brand. What makes Starbucks stand out compared to another coffee shop. Things like their logo, the names of drinks, the way the cups look, the interior of shops, to the background music has all been carefully selected to create that unique “Starbucks experience.” In that same fashion start thinking about all the elements of your wedding and how they can be inspired by your theme and add specific touches of you. Some ideas for customizing your “brand”:
• A logo, monogram, or custom design element
• An event specific hashtag
• How does your messaging sound? Is it formal and elegant? Cute and fun?
• A consistent font style across all communication
• Specific color palette (aqua can be a very different color depending on who you ask)
• Custom wedding décor instead of “off the rack” items
• Fun additions that represent you (an event exclusive cocktail for example)
Set the Tone with your Invitation
As you start checking off your wedding planning to-do list it can be tempting to just get stuff done as quickly as possible. We recommend if you are looking to make your event stand out to look at the overall picture and then prioritize what details are the most important to communicate the theme. Many times an invitation can be something that is overlooked, but we see an invitation as the first touch point for your guests to learn about your day and get excited. There can be a big difference in what is communicated with a simple boxed invite from the craft store vs a custom-designed invitation suite. At Ever Ella we work with couples to design an invitat ion that is truly unique to their theme and style and wouldn’t be seen anywhere else. Once an invitation design is established that same look can be carried across other collateral to ensure a beautiful, cohesive, and memorable day.
