From the Desk of Commissioner Maribel Gomez Cordero
Dear Residents of Avalon Park,
As we enter 2021, we are faced with new challenges ahead to tackle together. These unprecedented times have changed the way we live our day by day. Our County Government continues to work to slow the spread of COVID-19, and provide assistance to those vulnerable residents in our community, but more importantly, to provide hope.
Our County has received our shipment of vaccines, with a focus on EMS workers in Orange County. For the next phase of the COVID-19 vaccination, the Florida Department of Health in Orange County is rolling out a strategy to vaccinate the 65+ population in Orange County. Stay updated by visiting ocfl.net/Vaccine. Download the OCFL Alert app or text OCFLCOVID to 888777 to receive vaccine updates. You can also provide your email address at ocfl.net/Vaccine to stay updated. Beginning Monday, Jan. 4, 3-11 will be able to help register residents and help those with language barriers register to make vaccination appointments. Orange County Government’s Health Services Department has extended COVID-19 testing through January 30, 2021 at Barnett Park. The testing site will continue to operate 7 days per week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
My thoughts are with all those who have been impacted by this pandemic. Please remember to wear your mask, social distance, and wash your hands often. As always, if you need assistance, please call or email my office. Stay safe!
