SLUM REDEVELOPMENT

is to provide shelter with for urban poor along with basic civic infrasrtucture like water, sanitation, sewage, road, electricity etc. Aiming to provide hygienic and habitable conditions to lower sections of the society which will definitely uplift the living standard. slum in Kathputhli is mainly inhabited by sweepers, rag-pickers, artisans and general labourers, who have migrated from rural areas to a more urban setting. The draw for these people to urban areas is the hope of better jobs, higher pay, modern housing and an upgrading of their lifestyle from rural workers to middle-class landowners.

An

art and culture center is a functional community centre with a specific remit to encourage ats practice and to provide facilities such as theatre space, gallery space, venues for musical performance, workshop areas, educational facilities and technical equipment.

JAISALMER is also known as “The Golden city� is a city in Indian state of rajasthan, located 575 kms away from state capital Jaipur. Jaisalmer state is a world heritage site. The town stands on a ridge yellowish sandstone and is crowned by the ancient Jaisalmer SITE AREA: 18000 SQM. Fort. LOCATION: near gadisagar road and bus stand. The site is surrounded by manmade lake i.e gadisagar lake.

In jali there is less of mass and more of voids, so by interchanging the voids and masses a builtup space can be created which provides mutual shading and even supports the climate of jaisalmer

While visiting jaisalmer, one of the most fascinating element was detailed jali work done in haveli’s and chatris. so taking that element as an inspiration, cameup with the idea of masses and voids.

architectural elements Most towns had garh (Fort) as the nucleous with habitation all around enclosed by fortification walls with bastons, crenellations and huge gateways. Spatial organization of various castes depended upon status and religion, people of similar caste stayed together as a close group rise to distinct neighbourhoods or mohallas. main streets leading to fort functioned as commertial spine while the others were residential. sevral social, religious and recreational institutions also formed as integral part of the town
