We’ve Moved and We’re
Growing!
T
he move is part of our strategic plans to ensure business continuity and service delivery demands can be met. The changes have brought great changes to the office and hours growth in both Bexley and Greenwich Councils is on the rise. The move has provided us with a greater opportunity to meet with staff for meetings and has a large training facility. The move to the new location has allowed us to bring in more care staff for induction and regular updates. In return, we have been growing our business.
If you’d like to see our new office in Bexley, please feel free to come to our Open Day on 29th June between 112.30 p.m. There will be light refreshments and staff on site to give you a tour and discuss our plans for the future. As part of our changes to Avante Community Support we’ve made some changes to the staff for the moving forward of our business.

Looking out for New Outlooks
A
s apart of the Avante Community Support services we offer a unique and individualised service for people with disabilities. New Outlooks has been offering services in the community for over 10 years. Senior Carer, Lisa Randell, has qualified in two areas for Train the Trainer courses. Lisa offers a great support to the
staff in the field as well as the drive and energy to provide a quality support to adults.
Faversham Office; however, we do have customers in South East London.
New Outlooks prioritises work with adults who require 1:1 support. Our customers are primarily adults aged 18+ who may have a combination of support need including: learning disabilities, physical disabilities and sensory impairment. New Outlooks is currently run from the

Achievement Awards Celebration An informal reception, with an afternoon tea, was held on Monday 28th May at the Bridgewood Manor Hotel in Chatham. This event was held for those members of staff who have completed 20 or 30 years of service and for those who have completed work related qualifications.
A
vante Partnership recognises that individual members of staff reach a milestone, or achieve success, that is worthy of special recognition and invited these staff to celebrate their success together at this event. The afternoon was somewhat different to the normal format in that two of our residents from Court Regis, Peggy Aplin and Kay Wright, were invited to present certificates to volunteers who work within our services. This award was to recognise the valuable work that volunteers provide and a cross section of volunteers will be invited to future events too. Both Peggy and Kay were delighted to be asked and thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon and the special attention that they received. Trustees, Bob Bushell, Dr Adrian Adams and Giles Craven, attended and presented awards.

Assistant Directors Following a period of reflection, review and discussions over several months, we are pleased to announce the new senior management structure within Avante Care and Support.
We have recently felt that we needed to take a fresh look at how we manage our care homes and support our Home Managers to not only successfully lead their staff and manage their homes, but to embrace the growing complexity of the external environment.

eye (as he is called) is a graduate of Agricultural Economics. Following his 1st degree, he trained as a stockbroker and worked in that capacity with various organisations.
Belinda Watson
Following a move to the UK, he decided to change career as he has a keen interest in working with people with mental health issues and latterly with older people.
B
orn and educated in South East London, on leaving school Belinda joined the world of banking, working in various customer related roles for 5 years. Belinda Studied for a training and development qualification (CITD) and moved into adult training across a range of junior management subjects and customer service related skills. Belinda joined a commercial stationery company and worked alongside the MD in a marketing role for several years. Belinda entered the care sector after the birth of her eldest son in 1994, as a Relief Scheme Manager for Tonbridge and Malling Housing Association; transferring to Invicta Lifeline as
Michelle Elliot

ichelle Elliott previously worked in sales and marketing for 14 years until realising that it wasn’t the career she was looking for. The change of career led Michelle to Social Care where she has10 years of experience under her belt, starting as a Health Care Assistant to Assistant Director. During Michelle’s career in Social Care she has worked with most client groups although mainly her career was with people with learning disabilities. Michelle has managed care homes for people with learning disabilities and now dementia.
To support the delivery of our growing expectations, on 6th June, we introduced a new Assistant Operations Director role, which report to Geoff Ward, Operations Director. Belinda Watson, Seye Fadipe and Michelle Elliott have been appointed as Assistant Operations Directors. Sophie Murray, currently an Operations Manager will take up the role of Nutrition and Wellbeing Advisor within the Practice Development Directorate.

Seye gained a postgraduate degree in Housing Practice and has a wide range of experience in mental health, diverse services of older people including, extra care housing, residential services, dementia care, domiciliary care and sheltered housing.

Seye is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing, Institute of Leadership and Management and a Dignity Champion.

Seye loves sports, is a keen photographer and enjoys travelling.

Seye is married with children.
a Lifeline Operator (taking emergency calls and delivering safe outcomes) Belindas first post as a Home Manager for people living with dementia came in 2005 for a privately owned company, she also held a Registered Manager post for the charity Abbeyfield Kent. Belinda joined Avante Partnership in June 2009 as Team Manager for Avante Community Support, she then transferred to Avante Care and Support in December 2010 as one of three Operations Managers. Belinda is an Eden Associate. Interests: Gardening (in all weathers!!), spending time with her family and friends and a good long walk with her pet dog Barney.
Michelle’s Qualifications are: NVQ4 in Registered Managers Award CMI Level 5 Diploma in Management Hobbies and interests: Cooking, gardening and would one day like to try ‘Wing Walking’. Ultimate goal: To make our homes a lifestyle choice, not a necessity. •
Michelle has worked with Avante Care and Support for 15 months, starting as Operations Manager in March 2011.

Anne Child Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society PHWsI I.P Post Grad (Dementia)
A
nne has just been appointed Head of Pharmaceutical Care and Clinical Standards for Avante Care and Support. You will see from this very brief introduction she is a passionate multi disciplined professional, whose work ethic and purpose is to be someone who helps to make a real difference to people and their care. Anne is a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society a PHWsI I.P Post Grad (Dementia) and has recently designed an audit for low dose antipsychotic medication in Primary Care and went on to re-evaluate dementia patients in GP practices with a view to withdrawal of these medications, while at the same time working very closely with care homes. The close working with care homes in Medway meant that Anne was able to implement changes to prescribing and deal with behaviours that challenge in dementia.
The results of this have formed the basis of a paper under review prior to acceptance for national publication later this summer (2012). Anne is an Independent Prescriber who has a special interest in Care Home Medication Management and dementia and she holds a Post Grad certificate in this subject at Masters Level. Anne is passionate about the care of the elderly and those who become residents in care homes and has been involved in the Institute of Health’s Dementia Call to Action.
As a member of the multi disciplinary South East Mental Health Forum; whose aim is to share good practice and inform innovative practices, Anne is constantly updating her own practices and knowledge of those practices used by others. During her employment at Medway PCT Anne (in conjunction with Public Health) was responsible for the roll out of the Flu Pandemic Operational Plans for NHS Medway and the Influenza Vaccination Plan for H1N1. Recently Anne joined Medway Community Health Care, where she has been responsible for specialist pharmaceutical care for the community, including working with the falls team and the use of patient medication review as an intervention to reduce falls rate. She has been nominated for a Royal Pharmaceutical Society Leadership in Pharmacy Award 2012 and her work around low dose antipsychotic reduction has been submitted and accepted as a nomination for a Pharmaceutical Care award 2012.
Sophie Murray Registered Nurse (Mental Health) Nutritional Therapy student (due completion of BSc September 2012)
A
s part of our new structure for operations, Sophie Murray has recently been appointed as the Health and Wellbeing Advisor for Avante Care and Support. She has a special interest in Nutrition, the impact on mental wellbeing and has a number of plans to change the way in which nutrition and food services are delivered and perceived. Sophie has been a member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council since qualifying as a Nurse in Mental Health in 1996. Her experience is mainly centred around rehabilitation for those with complex mental health needs including dementia, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. She has spent a considerable part of her career initiating and leading training programmes, including NVQ’s and training days within the Health and Social Care Industry and has designed training material for accredited training. Sophie has extensive experience of residential care home settings having delivered management training and assessment in over 100 residential homes in Kent. Sophie owns her own Italian restaurant which saw a vision turn to a reality in 2011 of a true authentic Italian open kitchen style restaurant in Whitstable.
Sophie is currently a member of BANT (British Association of Nutritional Therapists) and has already delivered a number of Nutritional Training sessions for staff as part of a health and wellbeing initiative. She is already making links with supplement companies with the view to utilising their educational research and possible partnership potential. When not engrossed in nutrition she continues to enjoy new challenges and holidays, naturally including finding good restaurants and fine wine and has another trip to the Tuscan wine region planned, purely for research!

Paxo came up the drive and pecked on the front door of Barton Court on the Isle of Sheppey in spring 2009.
A
fter being looked after for a week, the neighbour informed them that it was his chicken! On seeing the residents and staff had become attached to Paxo he said that they could keep him. So a large run and coop was built.
The Great Escape!
O
n Chaucer and Hardy Suites we have two cats called Misty and Chelsea, who are both sisters. About six weeks ago Chelsea was nowhere to be found and was spotted at the top of the driveway. For three hours I searched for her rattling a box of cat biscuits to no avail. I was so worried as she has never been outside in her life and would be very frightened.

She was missing for three weeks. A lovely neighbour, Trevor, responded to our
posters that he thought she may be hiding in the overgrown garden of the empty house next door. Over the period of a week he enticed her closer and closer with food until he set up a trap with food, string and a cardboard box! Chelsea spent a happy few days at Trevor’s house fattening herself up until a very happy and emotional reunion with Misty at Northbourne Court! Fiona Taylor, Care Manager
Paxo enjoys having the run of the garden each day and will come running when residents and staff go into the garden. Paxo will often sit with Joy Austin a resident when she is having a cup of coffee and a cigarette and will often try to get both when she is not looking! Paxo will lay one egg a day. Paxo will often try to get into the home if staff leave the door open and will then lay her egg in the cats basket! Paxo will often help Peter and the volunteers when doing the garden (not always appreciated when they are trying to plant vegetables and she doesn’t want them there).
Paxo also has a twitter account in which she will often tweet events going on in the home. Paxos’ aim is to be trending world wide on twitter and to get through another barbecue season!!
Sweep
Cats and Rabbits at Riverdale
R
iverdale Court have 5 fish tanks, with either tropical or cold water fish, the residents help us feed these as well as enjoying seeing the baby fish arrive in one of the tanks.
‘Sweep’ arrived at Hevercourt approximately 6 weeks ago. She is the sibling of ‘Sooty’, who was bought for one of our resident’s husbands by their daughter to help keep him company now that his wife is with us.
S
weep is a very cute and mischievous little kitten (who should have been named ‘Cato’ as she jumps out and pounces on you when you least expect it)! The residents all love her and she brings a smile to everyone’s face. We have a few residents who are particularly taken with her and one resident, Kath, who would spend all day everyday with her if she could. Kath absolutely dotes on Sweep and spends time sitting and playing with her with her toys and Sweep climbs onto the net bag on Kath’s walking frame when Kath isn’t using it. Sweep also likes to spend time in Sidney’s room, sometimes sleeping alongside Sid on his bed. Sid loves this.
Our two cats are Suki and Emmy. Suki thinks she not only owns Willow Suite but also the residents in Willow Suite who enjoy having her around. She is always being made a fuss of. Emmy on the other hand is a one woman cat and spends her time ruling Doris and her family, particularly loving the men in Doris’s family. Doris
We keep Sweep out of the dining room at mealtimes as the resident’s love to feed her scraps
said she wouldn’t be without her now, even though she thinks she’s the boss. Finally Hassian’s rabbits, they have been in on a few occasions and the residents all enjoy stroking and petting them and choosing names for them. One rabbit was named Houdini as he escaped in the garden from the run and it took 4 members of staff to catch him, providing great entertainment for the residents! Another suggested name for a rabbit was Port, as one resident suggested cooking him in Port for her dinner! Lauren and Annette, Activities Coordinators at Riverdale
She has a very snug and cosy bed to sleep in, but much prefers to sleep on top of the photocopier. When staff are sitting at the office desk Sweep likes to ‘help’ with the paperwork and she never seems to tire of trying to catch the cursor as it moves around the computer screen. She brings amusement to us all as we watch her hop, skip and jump along the corridor. All in all, Sweep is fitting in very well and has become part of the family and has truly made Hevercourt her home. Terri Butler, Activities Co-ordinator
Barton Court’s Babies
A
t Easter time the home borrowed some baby chicks, they were very small but the residents loved them, the homes cats also showed a keen interest! Earlier this year a kind neighbour let the home
borrow his three weeks old Jack Russell puppies, only for half an hour as they needed to get back so their mum could feed them. Everyone had a cuddle; they were so cute, bringing lots of smiles to the residents, visitors and staff.

Pilgrims got Talent! Residents of Pilgrim’s View have shown what can be achieved with a few pots of paint, some brushes, a bit of time and encouragement.

ight residents took part in an art exhibition which was displayed at the local library, during February. The exhibition received positive feedback and was enjoyed by all who went to see the paintings produced. The exhibition followed an art week run by Occupational Therapy students, Beverley Baker and Victoria Ward from Canterbury Christ Church University, with help from the home’s own activity coordinators, Patsy Terry and Sandy Taylor. The core values of Occupational Therapy
encompass enablement, person centred care and participation in meaningful occupations. This is in keeping with the Eden Alternative Philosophy of Care which encourages a life rich in creativity, spontaneity and community involvement. Taking part in the art week enabled the residents to explore their feelings and simply enjoy the sensory experience of putting colour onto paper. It also encouraged communication and allowed friendships to flourish.

Once in a Lifetime Project
On Friday 27th April we took the lovely Iris Baldwin swimming in Sidcup Leisure Centre. Iris hadn’t been swimming in 40 years but always loved to go, so, as part of our ‘Once in a Lifetime Project’ where we are asking our residents if there is something they used to do, or always wanted to do, Iris wanted to go swimming.

ris was a little nervous at first but was soon uplifted by Charlotte Taylor, CSA at Northbourne Court and Acer Griffiths who is a new member of our team and is a fully qualified lifeguard. Once Iris was in the pool she absolutely loved it, her face lit up so much. She said to the girls “thank you so much for bringing me, this is absolutely gorgeous”. She said she used to go swimming with her brother all of the time and it brought back a lot of memories which she was chatting to us about. I asked Iris if she’d like to go again next week and she absolutely lit up with delight saying “oh my yes please”.
Elizabeth’s Milestone Celebration
The lifeguards were very supportive and couldn’t believe that an 83 year old could still do it, she proved them wrong! We got Iris’s daughter involved too as she brought in a swimming costume for her and we sent her a message with the first picture saying “Hello Karen, we thought you’d like to see what your mum is up to today…” and she was so surprised and so pleased that her mum was back in a pool. When you reach 100, you have learned a thing or two along the way, and Elizabeth Harrison puts her knowledge to competitive use as she is excellent at doing crosswords, according to staff at Hevercourt Care Home in Gravesend where Elizabeth lives.
E
lizabeth was forced to take a break from the game on 22nd April because it was her 100th birthday and dozens of guests, relatives and friends, gathered for a big party to celebrate the occasion. Among them was Deputy Mayor of Gravesham, Cllr Lyn Milner. There was also a telegram from the Queen congratulating her on her
milestone birthday. Elizabeth was born in west London, but when her parents died she was adopted, only for one of that family to die. She eventually settled in Leysdown where she had a mobile home. It was surrounded by flowers she grew in her garden and in hanging baskets. She still takes part in flower arranging at the home but no longer gardens.
Her life story was related to the many guests during a ‘This is Your Life’ presentation organised by her immediate family. At the end of the presentation she was given her own illustrated book of her life.

Second Interview
Owl or Lark? Definitely a lark, but these days I’m seeing a lot more sunrises – I didn’t realise they could be so beautiful! Daily alarm set for? 6.30am on a normal office day, but earlier when there’s a meeting first thing. Tea or Coffee? Coffee, black, ¾ spoon sugar please. Nothing gets done until I’ve had a cup of coffee in the morning. Smart, casual or scruffy? Depends on the occasion but I probably lean towards the scruffy end of the spectrum. Jeans and T shirt would be my default dress standard. Highlight of week ahead? (work) Getting out and meeting potential partners that we can work with and using this as a trigger to learn more about our industry and how we can grow and develop new business. Highlight of week ahead? (my time) A day off on Friday to go downhill mountain biking in Wales with a mate. 20 minutes up the mountain by minibus. 4 minutes down!
Favourite Meal? In the real world – something involving fish, especially Dover Sole. If we’re pushing the boat out, any meal at Hakkesan. Evening unwind? Don’t really get much time for unwinding, and TV is so bad these days! In the Summer I might get out to potter in the garden and in the Winter I might do some work on my family tree (genealogy) Favourite music/artist? Hmm? Placebo. Was keen on Kings of Leon but they were rubbish live. Favourite holiday destination? Zimbabwe. A fantastic country that has suffered so badly in recent years. An ultralight flight over the Victoria Falls is an experience of a lifetime (providing you can cope with heights!).
On Friday 4th May the HMS Ocean sailed down the Thames to berth at Greenwich in a preparation exercise for the Olympic Games. So we decided to race over to see if we could see the largest ship in our Navy arrive.
Favourite hobby? A toss up between windsurfing and mountain biking, although if I had the money car racing would be tops.

Ships at Greenwich
I
f you ask Bill he will tell you how we walked to the bus stop to get the first of two buses to Greenwich, but unfortunately HMS Ocean beat us there. So we found a lovely spot for a cup of tea which gave us views of not only the war ship but the newly refurbished Cutty Sark. The Tea Clipper that was built in 1869 and had been badly damaged by fire in 2007. Irene said she found it ‘very interesting’ seeing both ships, and Veronica said she loved having the opportunity to see
something ‘that at 80 odd years of age that she might not see again’. Luckily we narrowly missed the rain for our journey that day and Bill was happy to have his photo taken with the war ship. On our return on Monday we were not so lucky with the weather but everyone still enjoyed catching a glimpse of the two large ships under our brollies. I would like to share a moment of real joy.

t home my sons call me ‘Big Badge’ when I come in from work in my uniform and badge. They hoot with laughter and keep asking why the badge is SO big while I try to explain that it is large so that residents, whose eyesight is not so good, can see my name and how helpful it is for new residents. But through their tears of laughter I am still ‘Big Badge’! However my greatest joy came from one resident to whom I am Keyworker, who, despite seeing me most days
in the last 10 months, has always called me and all other female staff LADY. This is her polite solution to coping with memory loss.

A Well Earned Rest Barbara Maylor began her volunteering one day a week for Honeyfield Care Home after her husband, John, sadly passed away having been a resident at the home.

arbara had been a regular visitor and supporter of Honeyfield and began volunteering as she felt connected to the home and she wanted to give something back, to show her appreciation for the care that John had received, and to fill the big gap in her life when she lost her husband.
Maddy Pool, Assistant Manager at the home, recently gave a presentation to Barbara to thank her for all her fundraising efforts and for all the time, support and friendship she has given to the residents and staff of Honeyfield over the last 4 years, Barbara has now decided to take a well earned rest.

Sponsored walk along the Great Wall of China
Our names are Sandra Goodwin and Maxine Winchester; we are both friends and also work colleagues.
W
e work for Avante Care and Support as carers at Amherst Court in Chatham, Kent. We will be travelling to China in April of 2013 to walk 200 kilometres along The Great Wall of China to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Charity. We have chosen this particular charity as we both have close loved ones that have received treatment for cancer, or are still battling this cruel disease, so this is very close to our hearts. We would like to support our loved ones as much as we can, so by doing this challenge we feel we are giving something back, and helping to support them. We first have to raise £3000.00 each before we are able to go, so we have a long road ahead. To do
this we will be organising various events, such as a Seventies Night, Quiz Nights, or a Sponsored Waxing Day for any of you hairy fellows out there that are up for a challenge, If not then maybe a sponsored head shave! We want to make this experience fun and something to always remember whilst also raising money for a very needy cause. We will be holding our first event a boot fair, as soon as the rain stops, our friends and families have been donating, even if it’s a small amount, every little helps. We will be keeping you posted of our progress so please come along and support us.

he salon is owned by Georgette Jarvis and run by Adele Hilder. It is open from 10am to 4pm Tuesday to Fridays, although if there is sufficient demand they do open every other Saturday too. They cover all aspects of hairdressing, from sets to colours and perms. The beauty side encompasses manicures, pedicures, waxing, facials and massage. Connie’s Relaxing Birthday

onnie Reynolds celebrated her 91st birthday, with her family and staff, in a manor reflecting Connie’s true personality with a cake made by Margaret Herridge, a carer at Amherst Court. The cake captured Connie’s favourite way to spend her day and her unique individuality. Connie said she was so surprised by the cake and not only had a wonderful cake but also a wonderful time.

Bishop comes to Bridge on Charity Triathlon Celebrity and comedian John Bishop embarked on the first leg of his charity fund raiser for sports relief; the first leg saw him run from Dover to the rural village of Bridge.

his was a fantastic opportunity for the staff and the residents of The New Close to rub shoulders with the Liverpool funny man, who was joined by X-Factor host Dermot O’Leary for moral support.
Rosemarie was unfazed by her big moment in the spotlight and had a cuddle with both before they departed. John had a series of gruelling events which included cycling and rowing across the channel.
Both took a well earned rest, chatted to locals and the media, it was during this impromptu stop that our resident Rosemarie Hall got to mingle with famous people.
John was also later joined by Davina Mc Call, Chris Moyles, cricket legend Freddie Flintoff and fellow comedian Frank Skinner.
Rosemarie settled for afternoon tea, biscuits and cake, John may well have wanted to swap places with her at some point!
Irene calls time on care career at The New Close
Team leader Irene Birch has decided to retire after 15 years of valuable service at The New close, but a well deserved rest is not on the cards! She has recently enrolled in an IT course and is thrilled to be going in a new and exciting direction. Staff will remember Irene’s warmth and kind nature to everyone involved with the home. “I will always remember the fun we had“said fellow carer Tracey Shirley. Gill Pollard said “She was always very warm hearted“.

remember that“ added Jamie Lloyd. “Always bubbly” said fellow team leader Sam Jones. Dena Kurivilla simply said “I always enjoyed working with Irene; she was a very hard worker”. Although she is leaving her full time post, it is hoped that she may return as a member of the bank staff and the home can still utilise her experience. We wish Irene all the very best in the future.

he residents and staff at The New Close enjoyed a star spangled event on May 2nd. “A day in the USA“ was a celebration of all things Americana, and as well as a buffet with an American flavour, the evenings highlight was in the form of an Elvis impersonator – Peter Presley. (Not sure if this is a coincidence!) Peter is an employee of Jenner’s, the contractors heavily involved with the refurbishment of the homes reception. Peter, dressed in the trademark Rhinestone Suit, ran through the hits that
marked the singers 24 year career up until his death in 1977. The residents danced to a number of familiar songs and went to bed contented after spending an evening in the company of the King of Rock N Roll. Nicola Lindstead (Eden Champion) said: “It was a brilliant night, everyone was smiling, singing and dancing, I think we all had a great time, even the staff”.
The New Close Open Day On Wednesday 18th April 2012 The New Close Care Home at Conyngham Lane, Bridge, opened its door to visitors to come along and see what the home has to offer.

he New Close has recently opened its new Kingfisher and Nightingale suites which boast beautifully designed en-suite bedrooms, specially designed and equipped to provide a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment for residents with dementia. The interior of the suites have been designed to stimulate the senses, particularly through the use of striking and highly original colour schemes and textures. Many of the rooms have an added luxury of patio doors leading out to the secure gardens surrounding The New Close. Sue Keiper, Home Manager and Bob Bushell, Trustee, welcomed visitors to the Open Day on behalf of the
organisation. Many families and health professionals visited on the day to enjoy a tour of the home and to enjoy a light refreshment of Pimms and canapés, as well as a visit from the Sheriff of Canterbury, Hazel McCabe. The open day also included a prize draw raffle and music which entertained our guests and residents throughout the day. The New Close provides 24-hour care and support for people living with dementia. The team of qualified and trained staff at The New Close focus on putting the ‘person first’ with person-centered care being at the heart of the service delivery.

A big Welcome At Court Regis we offer a very warm welcome to our new resident Gladys who is our second resident to be one hundred years old. She turns 101 in August making her older than the Titanic!! 0 Gladys met Our’ Annie at a free concert held by Memory Lane earlier in the month and the two happily posed for a photograph together, making sure they had a drink to celebrate!
New Mini Bus for Court Regis
H
ome Manager, Emma Hodges and the team at Court Regis had been desperately saving hard for funds for a mini bus for the residents to enjoy day trips out on a regular basis. ‘Many events have taken place over the last year or so such as raffles, quizzes and tea parties to help increase the mini bus saving fund’, said Emma. Clever thinking staff at Court Regis also spoke with the Sittingbourne Society regarding their fund raising, this led to the Society offering a grant of £2000 being donated very kindly from the John George Jordan Bequest.

On the 7th March Joyce Fuller, Treasurer of the Sittingbourne Society, presented staff and residents with a cheque for the £2000 to go towards the mini bus.
Well done Court Regis for your excellent fund raising efforts and we hope you have some wonderful trips out in it.

Buckingham Palace Garden Party Some lucky residents from Court Regis and other homes, including Honeyfield and Barton Court, had the honour of attending a garden party in Buckingham Palace this month held by the Not Forgotten Association.

he invites went out to all those who have served in the military services and their families. As well as having perfect weather, the residents got to mingle with royals and celebrities alike, plus see a performance from the Royal Scots Band. All the residents dressed up for the occasion, proudly wearing their medals and
got to experience the life of a royal for the day, eating gourmet food and taking in the glorious surroundings of the gardens. Resident, William Baum, 92, from Court Regis, who served in the RAF during the Second World War, said ‘it was the best day of my life’.

Court Regis are very lucky to have had the owner of the Three Hats Public House in Milton run the London Marathon for them, all together he has raised £2,000 for their amenity fund.
