Kristy Cleveland Business Manager
January 2014
From the desk of Jodi Kurtz, Chamber Chair A “New” Year, a “new” opportunity to start a “new” beginning in 2014. I am your “new” chairman, chairwomen, chairperson, or whatever you wish to call me. My name is Jodi Kurtz and I am honored to be Chair of one of the greatest chambers in MN. You help make that Chamber and I wish to know each of you by name and not just by recognition. I would like to tell you a little about myself. I was raised in northern MN and I don’t mean two hours from here, but rather a few miles from the Canadian border in a small town called Greenbush. (18 miles west of Roseau - population of 800) My father was a great mentor to me. He owned two businesses plus work a day in my life. I have found that at Warners’ Stellian. I am the manager at the Apple Valley store and have worked here for going on 19 years. I lived in Thief River Falls, MN after high school and went to college. After 6 years of living there clinic. We have lived in Apple Valley for 20 years. My husband, David, is an Architect CAD Engineer for Enclos. We have two awesome daughters, Jillian and Olivia. Both are attending the University of Minnesota, Jillian is a junior and Olivia a sophmore. My mother and brother still live “up north”. I lost my father in June of 2013. great job last year and I hope I can continue his focus and his gifted leadership. I may not be as humorous or know the tax world like he does but hopefully I can bring some of my experiences, skills and attributes. I am proud and excited to have such a strong Board of Directors this year. Their input and dedication is valuable to the success of the Chamber. Ed and Kristy work endless hours and I am thankful to have them on the team. I hope to get more members involved. Let your membership with the Chamber work for you. Not only will you meet your fellow members and be able to promote your business but you will create new friendships and have fun doing so! Let 2014 begin! *Scott may have started each luncheon off with a joke, but I “sign off” with quotes. “THE REAL OPPORTUNITY FOR SUCCESS LIES WITHIN THE PERSON AND NOT IN THE JOB”
Happy New Year!
