Ryanair To Ground 80 Aircraft Next Winter Ry anair is taking drastic action to counter rising f uel costs in the coming winter. The airline plans to temporarily ground 80 aircraf t, almost one third of its current f leet and grounding would mean the airline carries 4 percent f ewer passengers than in the prev ious winter. According to JSSI, The exclusiv e engine programme f or Pratt & Whitney PW617 engines includes cov erage of low utilisation inspections and engine compressor washes. The programme also cov ers unscheduled maintenance f or the Phenom 100 engine, required low utilisation inspections and up to eight compressor washes ev ery y ear. The low utilisation cov erage is av ailable as an add-on f or P&W 300, 500 and 600 series engines, the company added.

The aircraf t are scheduled f or deliv ery in 2013. The German carrier announced its intention to order the aircraf t in March 2011. It already operates the 777F through its Luf thansa CargoDHL joint v enture AeroLogic.
