Inspections on Embraer Legacy 600 & 650 at ACC COLUMBIA Jet Service
At the beginning of 2021, ACC COLUMBIA Jet Service expanded its hangar capacities at Hanover Airport significantly. Apart from hangar 16 with 3,500 sqms we now perform heavy maintenance also in hangar 3 with additional 3,200 sqms. Whereas in hangar 16 mostly Bombardier models are located for all kind of inspections and maintenance, Station Manager Daniel Jatsch primarily takes care of Embraer Legacy aircraft types in hangar 3.
Currently, two teams of Certifying Staff and technicians are working under the direction of Station Manager Daniel Jatsch on a 96 month inspection and a 6 plus 12 month inspection. With regard to the 6 plus 12 month inspection, the respective team only has a very short downtime of five days which will of course be released according to the request of our longstanding customer. For this inspection, approx. 300 man hours including further customer tasks, necessary troubleshooting and small repairs are calculated.

The team for the 96 month inspection is dealing with a downtime of only 8 weeks including all potential findings. Usually the initial 96 month inspection already takes 8 weeks and further 2 weeks must be estimated for any findings that may occur. During the inspection, all exterior panels must be removed and a fuel tank internal inspection is performed. The landing gear is removed to allow detailed inspection of the structural attachments in the wings and the fuselage. As also the complete cabin is disassembled, the operator uses downtime for a partial interior refurbishment as repair of varnish and refurbishment of the leather passenger seats.
Consequently, we also already performed 144 month inspections on Embraer Legacy aircraft which differs from the 96 month inspection mainly in the additional shipment of the landing gear to the manufacturer for overhaul reasons. All other maintenance tasks have to be treated to the same extent.
ACC COLUMBIA Jet Service as Part-145 maintenance facility is authorized to perform all kind of maintenance on Embraer Legacy aircraft. Daniel Jatsch is convinced: “Our staff is able to cope with all challenges resulting from special customer requirements due to their expertise, the dedication to their jobs and the general aviation sector. Challenges encourage our teams in all branches and departments to peak performance.”
