HEAVY REFURBISHMENT UPGRADE ON CESSNA CITATION SOVEREIGN

AHGUIDE

Heavy Refurbishment Upgrade on Cessna Citation Sovereign 680 — Classic Design with a Modern touch for generations The Cessna Citation Sovereign heavy refurbishment project performed by our AeroVisto Team started off with a tour to Eindhoven with our unique mobile showroom. Having the mobile showroom next to the aircraft made it simple to create the sample board for a classic with modern touch interior design. The owner family was offered the whole range of materials from which they got an excellent feeling for the touch and look of the numerous options. Very happy with this increased value to choose the design for generations of their family, the decision making process was very easy and straight forward. With a happy customer we drove back to start with the preparation for the project. After the design and decision phase the aircraft was taken to the Cessna Service Center in Le Bourget, Paris for the removal and reinstallation of the interior. AeroVisto is the preferred partner for Cessna in Europe. What Cessna highly appreciates is that AeroVisto offers the full service package from the sample board, rendering, material management, coordination of the works and reporting to the owner. This makes every project remarkable.

During the whole refurbishment project, the cooperation with the Cessna Service Center Team was always the focus to make sure the project turns out to be the best solution the owner family could get. A great communication culture is the way to create the best customer experience. This was especially accomplished together with the Operator Jet Netherlands from the ASL Group where we got a remarkable support any time from the start till the delivery. Dozens of projects like this have been performed already with the Cessna Service Center Teams and each of it has been special and a great achievement. This was the 6th project done together with the Operator and we are looking forward to much more. AeroVisto – best in customer experience.

Why Purchasing a Private Jet is a Good Investment What are the chances of a private jet being your next big investment opportunity, rather than the next big mistake? Until a few years ago, you would probably be right to pass it by, but today it’s another story. The world is changing rapidly, and perhaps it is time to consider the advantages of a private jet beyond strictly an investment perspective. Profiting from private jets today is a real possibility, and a favourable chance to build a valuable asset in the air as well. If you are even considering private jet ownership, you are headed for a great start, but what is the probability of turning this asset investment into a profit? No matter how busy your schedule is, you likely won’t be needing your new business jet every day.Does this mean your aircraft shouldn’t generate income when you are not flying? There are several reasons why the answer to this question may work to your benefit both as a private jet owner and as an investor.

Charter Away The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we travel. People are looking for safe, point-to-point travel without having to pass through passenger terminals or being seated closely to people they don’t know. In this context, the private aircraft industry is opening to a much wider market than ever before. Safety is the new priority. The stereotype of a private flight being solely for the rich, famous, and the perceived extravagance is being deconstructed. Everyday more and more people are boarding private jets. From business people who need to make urgent trips or attend strategic negotiations, to families with children and pets that wouldn’t be comfortable on an airline, the market for charter flights is increasingly diverse. By making your aircraft available for charter, you are turning your aircraft into a revenue generator.

The Facts Before you consider purchasing a private jet solely as an investment, be warned that an aircraft is a depreciating asset and the amount of time that the aircraft will need to be chartered to create a profitable revenue stream is unrealistic for the majority of private jet owners. The simple fact is, an owner purchases an aircraft for their own use, for business and private flights, and this use limits the amount of time that the jet will be available for charter. WWW.AVIATIONHEAVEN.COM

AHGUIDE Experience has proven the charter operator’s rule of thumb, that an owned jet has to fly a minimum of 800 hours per year to begin to make a profit. A private jet owner will be challenged to generate so many revenue flying hours on top of their own use. However, this does not mean that an aircraft owner should not consider chartering their aircraft.

The Mechanics Offering your aircraft for charter is more complicated than simply advertising your aircraft on the internet. An operator must be approved by the Civil Aviation Authority in which the aircraft is registered, to operate an “aircraft for hire”, essentially commercially. A private jet owner with their own flight crew will, generally, not be approved for commercial operations and for a single aircraft owner, this would be prohibitively expensive. Aircraft management companies that hold their own Aircraft Operating Certificate for commercial operations can, however, be contracted to manage an owner’s private jet and under the umbrella of their AOC, offer the aircraft on the market for charter. The aircraft management company will oversee all aspects of the aircraft’s operation, both when used by the owner and when chartered to third parties. Many of these companies also offer charter broker services. The contracted aircraft management company will charge the client fees to manage the aircraft, both monthly and flight hour related, and will retain a portion of the fees received from charter. Revenue received by the owner can be used to offset the cost of ownership, ultimately lowering the cost of flying the private jet for the owner, whether they are travelling for business or pleasure. This is a highly effective model that offers advantages both to the management company and to the owner. There are many factors that influence the amount revenue that an owner will receive from chartering their aircraft including aircraft type, location, availability and expectations. Before considering acquiring an aircraft, it is important to first decide if its use will be strictly private or if the jet will also be chartered. This decision will not only affect how the aircraft will be operated and if an aircraft management company is required, but also how the cabin will be designed for higher usage and the features that will be required to make the aircraft as attractive as possible for potential charter clients.

There is a More Effective Solution The technology for aircraft charter is always improving. Perhaps the most impactful aspect of these is the prevalence of apps that place your aircraft literally in your customers’ hands. The UI/UX industry is always finding new ways to make the customer more interested, and the transaction more convenient. The simplicity of making a charter booking has increased drastically through these new apps, attracting more new users to private jet charter

More and more organizations now operate across several countries; this applies to companies of different sizes, not just multinational giants that have their own corporate jets. Business people need to make time-critical trips that wouldn’t be possible on an airline; entire teams need to be flown to work at an overseas site; companies need to send people and products to an important trade convention in a different state, and so on. There is now a greater need for flights that commercial jets, in many cases, simply cannot cater for. So here is an opportunity to lower an owner’s cost of aircraft ownership. New Approval issued by the U. S. Federal Aviation Administration for ACC COLUMBIA Jet Service

ACC COLUMBIA Jet Service is proud to announce that the authorization as repair station was just expanded to U. S. registered aircraft in order to meet with further customer requirements. Our Quality Manager Andreas Diehl received the respective Air Agency Certificate Number ACCY939D at the beginning of the month of May 2021 after having applied for the approval in collaboration with German competent authority LuftfahrtBundesamt and the United States of America FAA Federal Aviation Administration. As a repair station located outside the United States of America, ACC COLUMBIA Jet Service is now allowed to maintain U. S. registered aircraft in accordance to the authorizations defined in the respective Maintenance Organisation Certificate and Approval issued by German Luftfahrt-Bundesamt in compliance with EASA European Aviation Safety Agency regulations. “The rating by FAA is limited to maintenance on particular makes and models of accessories, airframes, landing gear components as well as to the performance of nondestructive inspection, testing and processing as per our EASA Part-145 Approval Certificate DE.145.0014”, explains Quality Manager Andreas Diehl. In order to receive the FAA approval, a supplement to the ACC COLUMBIA Jet Service’s MOE Maintenance Organisation Exposition had to be issued as the basis of acceptance by the FAA for maintenance, alterations or modifications on aircraft and/or aircraft components under the regulatory control of the FAA and in compliance with the CFR Code of Federal Regulations. The aim of the supplement is to bring all different requirements between FAA and EASA into accordance. As Andreas Diehl is working as Quality Manager in the Cologne branch already for 18 years, he was able to benefit from his experience from other approval application processes even though every collaboration with the national authorities is different and must be treated individually. The U. S. approval complements all other approvals for Aruba, Bermuda, Cayman, Guernsey and Russia registered aircraft and puts ACC COLUMBIA Jet Service in a perfect position to serve their international customers the best possible way in the major maintenance facilities in Hanover and Cologne, in the sheet metal shop in Wegberg and at any airport all over the world in case of AOG. At ACC COLUMBIA Jet Service there is no time for stagnation. All success can only be gained through continuous performance, all experience and expertise must be constantly lived and expanded to obtain optimal results meeting the customers’ demands and of course all technical and safety requirements. CAMO - Aircraft Painting The practical guide how to get things done! Why does the aircraft needs to be painted? The paint of the aircraft is not only for cosmetical and design purposes on the aircraft. That's what is mostly seen by the passengers and owners that the aircraft looks good! The other reason is to protect the aircraft from corrosion. After time the paint of the aircraft loses its quality due to several circumstances. It depends if the aircraft is hangared or outside. work together with a Maintenance Organisation due to various tasks that must be performed to prepare the aircraft before the paint job and finalize it afterward. It might be necessary to balance the flight controls if they are not hydraulic-powered. Also, several visual inspections and checks might be necessary. So make sure you plan your paint job together with the paint shop and your maintenance provider. Also, make sure all placards are available after the paint was applied. By the end, you need to do a new weight and balance and therefore a weighing of the aircraft is essential. You will find all information for the procedure within your Maintenance Manual and Structure Repair Manual.

3 months of successful operation for new DC Aviation Wheel Shop DC Aviation opened its new state-ofthe-art Wheel Shop at the Stuttgart site (about) three months ago. The range of services now also includes maintenance work on the main and nose landing gear wheels of larger business jets. For this purpose, DC Aviation has significantly expanded the capacity of its previous Wheel Shop and has invested in new, state-of-the-art equipment. Three months ago, DC Aviation put its new state-of-the-art Wheel Shop into operation at the maintenance center at Stuttgart Airport. The new Wheel Shop offers customers an even more comprehensive range of services for the repair and maintenance of main and nose landing gear wheels. From now on maintenance services can also be performed on wheels of larger business jets. Since 2017 DC Aviation has held its C14 approval for the repair and maintenance of main and nose landing gear wheels. Services in this area are currently being performed for the Cessna Citation XLS+, Bombardier Challenger 300/604/605/850, Bombardier Global Series and Gulfstream G650 models. Due to demand, work is already underway to further expand the Wheel Shop. For example, in the future DC Aviation would like to offer work on Cessna CJ series wheels, and service the wheels of Gulfstream G500, G600 and G700 jets. For this purpose, DC Aviation has significantly expanded the space capacity of its previous Wheel Shop and has invested in state-of-the-art equipment. The floor of the new 77 m2 area was sealed with high-gloss epoxy resin. The modern equipment includes two bead breakers for loosening the tyres on smaller and larger wheels, a hydraulic lift for ergonomic and effective work on wheels, a rim washing machine, along with a sandblasting cabin to prepare wheels for crack testing. DC Aviation can now reflect on the first few weeks of the new Wheel Shop, which have been exciting and highly positive. After completing training employees were able to use the newly acquired equipment and service new customers. DC Aviation is pleased that it has been able to expand its service portfolio and are extremely pleased by the positive reaction of customers and the increased demand created by this new opportunity for maintenance work. Jürgen Sehne, Vice President of Maintenance & CAMO at DC Aviation, said, "The expansion of the Wheel Shop is an ideal addition to our portfolio of maintenance services. By carrying out repair and maintenance work on wheels in-house, idle times can be optimized for customers and costs can be saved." Aircraft wheels require considerable maintenance, due to their heavy load and their importance for the safety of flight operations. In the DC Aviation Wheel Shop, each wheel goes through numerous stations until, after a thorough check in the final inspection, it is released and re-certified with an EASA Form 1.
