Academy 147 offers a multitude of training courses with an extensive collection of NAA and Part-147 training approvals such as FAA, EASA, GCAA (UAE), CAAS (Singapore), DGCA (India) and more. These courses have also been accepted and approved by several other NAAs and accrediting bodies worldwide.

Over the last 12 months, the adoption of digital solutions has dramatically increased across all sectors due to the pandemic. Education has certainly not been an outsider to this trend. Albeit, even well before COVID-19, a gradual change in attitude towards distance learning had already started and the benefits of online education/training are now well documented.

Always seeking to be at the forefront of innovation, Academy 147 has actively embraced the positive effects associated with the increase in use of such technology. It has, in fact, recently introduced Academy 147 Online, its virtual learning system, where students are able to take part in their theoretical element of their training via instructor-led synchronous distance learning.

Throughout 2020, and now almost halfway into 2021, Academy 147 has been offering webbased synchronous instructor-led distance training. It has carried over its processes from the real-life classroom and into the virtual classroom. It uses 100% of its live in-class tools during virtual classroom training, and so far, more than 300 students have already successfully gone through its web-based synchronous instructor-led distance training. This solution helped us continue to offer training in localities that were restricted due to lockdowns and other travel restrictions.

Web-based synchronous instructor-led distance training, otherwise known as Virtual Classroom, combined with Academy 147’s face to face hands-on, Practical training makes for the perfect, blended learning experience. With this combination, students are able to minimize travel and reduce time away from base whilst still receiving a comprehensive training experience that includes face-to-face training with one of Academy 147’s highly experienced instructors on the live aircraft. This time is used to give students and instructors a bonding experience and underpin what was taught online, by witnessing live demonstrations and troubleshooting on the actual aircraft, helping students to avoid common pitfalls while performing certain tasks during AOGs and Phase Inspections.

Academy 147 is a training organization that uses senior level aircraft technicians as its instructors and one of its distinguishing features is its instructors’ hands-on, up-to-date experience. It recognises that the bonding that happens in the classroom, face to face, are impossible to replace. In addition, a virtual classroom is not something every client will opt for.

Throughout all of 2020 and up to now, the academy has continued offering in-classroom live training worldwide and it has a mission to continue doing so. As a boutique service provider, it wants to offer multiple solutions that can serve the needs of every client, whether it is in a virtual or a live classroom environment.

Academy 147 is also committed to its e-Learning portfolio adding web-based click-through and blended learning programs. The company has been investing heavily in this area and, as distance learning gains more popularity, it plans to continue doing so indefinitely.

Academy 147 sees itself moving forward. Looking ahead, the company sees new projects and opportunities. It has already started offering training on helicopters as it recently moved to a new and improved facility in Malta with its North American business unit following suit. Further information on new types of training soon to be offered will be revealed in due course.

The organisation has recently obtained DGCA India CAR 147 approval for its international business unit, which allows it to offer training to operators and MROs in India. This is a growth region for the academy, as it looks forward to expanding its business in the Indian subcontinent. Academy 147 has certainly come a long way from its humble beginnings in 2014 and will keep on looking ahead to a bright future.
