We live in exciting times. Many markets and industries are currently facing a major transformation. This is no different in aviation. Where the journey is heading, what trends there are in the field of mobility and which ones will ultimately prevail, can be seen in particular if you take a look at the automotive industry. We would like to share a few interesting facts from current studies on the subject of interior design.

What are we observing? For a long time, the exterior was the decisive, emotional factor in the purchase of vehicles. This is increasingly changing. Emotionalization – and thus the impetus to buy – is shifting more and more to the interior. The equipment and design of the interior is well on its way to becoming a key element in the purchasing decision. In particular, the demand for high-quality, hygienic and sound-absorbing surfaces is increasing. As a result of this development, the focus of the customer’s attention is shifting from the exterior, which has dominated for decades, to the interior. With a view to buying their next car, almost 60% of respondents saw the importance of the interior as significant to decisive, according to a representative survey. As the direct interface between vehicle and user, interior surfaces in particular must be attractive to the eye and pleasant to the skin.

They have the greatest influence on how people perceive the vehicle interior and the user experience. One in ten survey participants sees the poor build quality of interior surface materials as the biggest annoyance in their current vehicle. Around 45 percent of all participants see an advantage in surfaces that look and feel particularly high-quality – for seats, dashboards or headliners, for example – compared to only around eleven percent who do not. But that is not all. Another very important trend that will become permanently established is the desire for sustainability. When asked about the surface material itself, 57 percent believe that sustainable materials will become increasingly important for seat covers and surfaces in the next five to ten years, while genuine leather materials will lose importance in the participants‘ view. So much for the excursion and a look at the automotive industry.

What conclusions do we draw from these findings as a service and solution provider in aviation? We have recognized that our industry, too, must increasingly find and follow new paths in order to be able to cope with the foreseeable changes. This is the only way we can meet the demanding expectations of our customers now and in the future. Interior design and alternative materials will also play an increasingly important role in our business. Therefore, development in these important areas cannot be left to coincidence. Against this background, we have decided to launch the Aviation Design Initiative. With this initiative, we want to specifically promote the development of interior design and materials in aviation. We are pleased that we have already been able to win first designers, artists and manufacturers for this idea and that the first exciting projects and cooperation are already taking shape. As part of the Aviation Design Initiative, we will soon be able to present new business jet interior collections and show you how real art can find its way into the interior of your aircraft and turn it into a true highlight. We also invite everyone who has a passion for design in aviation – designers, artists, architects, academics, fabricators – to join the Aviation Design Initiative! We are convinced that we can make a difference with this initiative and show great new possibilities and ways that will bring the aviation industry to a new level in terms of interior design.

All You Need to Know About Private Jet Communication Communication - The Human Connection - Is The Key to Personal and Career Success. Here is all you need to know about private jet communication systems and why they are essential. If you could have only ONE thing on your private jet, what would it be? Some of you may be thinking that a comfortable seat is absolutely essential, others might swear that a galley to prepare your favourite foods is the most important thing. However, there is a correct answer to this question. If you could have only one thing on your private jet, it should be a strong communication system. Regardless of your age or profession, communication is a vital part of life. A private aircraft without fast and reliable cabin communications is not an aircraft that can fulfill the needs of the aircraft owner. Fortunately, there is a wide array of choices for new technology, services, and providers that will ensure your jet cabin has outstanding communication systems. We live during a time when you can connect with anyone, anywhere in the world, almost instantly. The internet has allowed us to make international calls, video chat with friends, host online meetings, and stream our favorite movies and music. This is a luxury we have come to expect almost everywhere on the ground. Increasingly, people are also expecting strong and reliable internet connections in the air. There are many options to help private aircraft meet these new expectations, including: varying degrees of bandwidth from satellite networks, air-to-ground services, large coverage areas, high security levels, and equipment like terminals, antennas, routers and wireless access points.

No Connectivity? Not an Option. Perhaps you are already the proud owner of a capable, but seasoned aircraft. If you are considering continuing to use your aircraft, you may soon struggle to do so effectively without a modern communication system. And if you are thinking of selling it, you may find it difficult to find a buyer who wants an aircraft without internet connectivity capabilities. WWW.AVIATIONHEAVEN.COM

AHGUIDE Air travel is evolving quickly and the ability to download email attachments and stream videos is now considered the bare minimum for in-flight internet services. Because many CEOs are working with multi-site video conferencing in their office, they are likely to want to continue to do this from their aircraft as well. Luckily, in-air communication capabilities are expanding rapidly, especially with worldwide satellite communications’ voice, data and text services. They use the latest generation of communication technologies which employ “Ka” and “Ku” satellite frequency bands. This makes it possible to achieve a larger bandwidth with a higher data transfer rate, faster speeds, and better performance overall.

Outstanding Security Standards Ensuring your jet’s communication systems are secure should be a top priority.Major internet service providers typically have good security measures in place. For example, all links from your jet to the ground are encrypted. However, some clients also decide to use their own VPN and many government aircraft run full grade military spec. encryption. There are even services that block aircraft registration numbers, call signs, and flight numbers from public display. Any measures employed to secure your communication systems on the ground should also be applied to your airborne communications. This should include data encryption, secured tunneling, dedicated line services and, potentially, other security aspects that your IT team would find appropriate.

Work Hard, Play Hard With a good internet connection inside of your jet, you’ll be able to complete all of your business responsibilities while also managing your personal life. One new technology that many CEOs have found helpful is video camera tracking, in which the camera can identify and zoom in on the person speaking. This feature can be useful for in-flight meetings when several people are sitting around the conference table. You should also have active noise canceling headphones (with audiophile sound quality) in case you need privacy for an important call or just a moment to relax. Upgrading your inflight entertainment services with streaming providers is also possible to bring the latest content to your private jet. While long-haul flights can be great for meetings, they can also be your time to relax with a large screen, comfortable seats, and movies you can enjoy at 35,000 feet in the air. Aircraft internet connectivity systems are widely available these days and can be adapted to be installed in older technology aircraft. Just by installing these new technologies into an older aircraft, you can transform it into a modern jet. And remember, whether you plan to use your aircraft for years to come or plan to sell it soon, installing the latest connectivity technology will certainly make your life easier. Academy 147 Unveils its Latest Training Format Since the earliest days of the pandemic, Academy 147 has made great strides in providing alternative ways of delivering the theoretical element of our aircraft maintenance courses to our successful conventional face-toface format. Our company was quick to adapt, and our trainers have had extensive training to deliver effective and interactive synchronous online sessions. Most takers of this new format commented on how smooth the course was, with many of them saying that they had never expected such professional delivery from an online course. There are many benefits to performing the theoretical element online such as offering students the opportunity to train simultaneously from multiple locations at more attractive costs, just to name a few. Students later meet up for practical training in the tradition face-to-face format, with hands on training being done on the actual aircraft. Looking for new opportunities is in Academy 147’s DNA, and albeit, we have also been working on offering another format of training that will add to our extensive portfolio of training courses. To this end, a lot of video production, voice-overs, interactive graphics, and animation, is going into producing a stateof-the-art asynchronous online training solution, where the participants can follow a course at their own pace, schedule, and preferred geographic location.

This asynchronous online training aims to supplement our Part-147 approved training, offering self-interaction with support from our trainers and is also designed to fit in perfectly in all hybrid formats. As we go along, we keep testing and seeking ways to improve this alternative material, offering training which covers specialised courses, such as certain taskbased training (How to open the main door, baggage door, how to start an APU, cold cockpit starts, system familiarization etc...) Our self-directed, asynchronous training courses will be offered as a custom service where clients can have Academy 147 tailor the training modules to their company needs and develop custom LMS (Learning Management Systems) that offer aviation companies a turnkey solution to their in-house training. Rather than offering, ready-made, self-directed (asynchronous) courses, Academy 147 will be offering this as a custom service and can act as an external arm of your training department to build specialized online training courses on a variety of aircraft and topics. We believe that these innovative formats together with Academy 147’s Part-147 type training provides an overall, well-rounded training solution to an MRO or aviation company. We look forward to cultivating that unbridled passion that aircraft maintenance staff all around the globe possess. For more information or requests, please write info@academy147.com

Three 240 month inspections on Bombardier Global at ACC COLUMBIA Jet Service Hanover

Currently there has not been many 240 month inspections performed on the Global series within the European region, with the majority performed in the United States, therefore, the team is very proud to support our customers with some of the first 240 month inspections in Europe. Due to the experience gained after performing numerous 120 month inspections, our team is very well prepared for this much broader inspection which is a very similar inspection but with some additional enhanced checks. Downtime for this maintenance event can range from 8 to 11 weeks, depending on additional findings during the inspection and further work packages ordered by the customer. The initial inspection includes removal of all exterior panels for a structural inspection. The fuel tank is also subjected to a detailed inspection and the landing gear is shipped to the manufacturer for overhaul purposes.

Additionally, the complete cabin interior must be disassembled and removed. With an inspection of this magnitude, various defects and of course corrosion were already found on both projects. During the downtime, one of the owners took the opportunity for a complete cabin refurbishment, including the upgrade of his obsolete Cabin Entertainment System, with a new generation system, with high-speed internet and a heavy galley modification including a new microwave and oven. The second 240 month inspection is a standard project with a new carpet and a couple of small repairs not causing any effect on the scheduled downtime. Additionally, one engine and the APU had to be removed due to structural findings. Whilst two technician teams are making great progress in their inspections, another team is already prepared to start the third 240 month inspection. Three inspections of this dimension at the same time are only possible due to the enormous spatial expansion in connection with recruitment of additional skilled staff optimally complementing the existing team since the beginning of this year at our facility in Hanover Airport. We will be extremely happy to release all aircraft back into service in a structurally safe condition after the extensive inspection focusing on a huge number of detailed tasks. Bombardier Global Series business jets are known for their comfort and performance especially regarding long distance flights and are therefore very popular with our customers. ACC COLUMBIA Jet Service currently has two Global Express in the Hanover hangars, on 240 month inspections, with a third Global Express starting at the beginning of November. The 240 month inspection is the most detailed and extensive inspection during an aircraft’s service life.
