Heavy Refurbishment on Embraer Legacy 600 — A tight schedule and high demands of the customer, require great experience and flexibility. Some things just take time – but in the end, the result is simply great. This was also the case with this refurbishment project of an Embraer Legacy 600. We had already been in contact with the owner of the machine for a good 2 years before the project started. It was quickly clear that we would like to start this project together, but he and his machine are very much in international operations and so it took a while until the optimal time for the realization of the refurbishment has come. With the 144-month inspection, which was carried out by Jetstory / Poland, a suitable time slot had finally come. But now everything had to happen especially fast … of course! The owner is also the only user of this business jet. The design was therefore something very private and he already had a clear idea of how his new and personal interior should be. With a modern black & white contrast, the look of the cabin should be brought back to „the state of the art“.

And for this, he spared no means. According to the motto „If you’re going to change something, then change it right“, almost nothing in the interior of the aircraft remained as it was delivered in its original state. The update of this Legacy 600 was thus very extensive. All seats have received completely new foams and have been reupholstered in white leather, with steel Stay Clean finish. The diamond stitching elegantly completes the design of the seats. Additionally, new seat belts were installed. The replating was done by HFT. The headline now shines in bright white, for which Ultraleather from TAPIS was used. At the owner’s request, the Divan was upholstered in very high-quality fabric, which harmonizes in color with the rest of the interior design. New cushions invite you to linger and relax. The surfaces have been given a black high-gloss varnishing. This provides an impressive contrast in the cabin. New mirrors, as well as the stone floor in

the galley and the lavatories were simply not to be missed in this refurbishment. In order for such extensive changes to be carried out precisely and on time, many decisions had to be made and many details discussed. And because the project had to be adapted to the owner’s tight schedule, we were asked to organize the material selection and design matching directly on the aircraft. We were happy to comply with this customer request. However, within two days we had to ensure that the lounge office area in the hangar at the Katowice/Poland location was transformed into a respectable on-site showroom.

the decision-making process was then completed within just one hour – and Carsten was able to make his way back to Switzerland quite quickly … in filthy weather and -20°C. After the project started, AeroVisto took over the entire project management – including disassembly and assembly on-site, as well as the necessary logistics. From the owner’s side, we were supported by Łukasz Chrzanowski, whom we welcomed several times to our manufactory in Staad for further finetuning. After this heavy refurbishment, this Legacy 600 is once again ready to serve its owner well in the years to come in worldwide business operations. We are happy that we were allowed to realize another very personal interior for the owner of an Embraer Legacy. And that it has become a real eye-catcher – this is once again very well shown in the pictures of Helmut Harringer.

Thanks to the in-depth presentation of the possibilities, based on the samples and examples brought along,

And we are already looking forward to helping other Embraer customers to give their business jet interiors a new shine with a very personal touch.

The owner was advised on-site by CEO Carsten Matthiesen, who was able to contribute his entire wealth of experience from 11 completed legacy refurbishment projects.

Is Your Private Jet Ready to Impress New Flyers? Throughout history, humans have always been drawn to items that provide a sense of luxury. The definition of luxury, like many other styles, has evolved and changed over the years. Often the great challenges of an era influence what is considered to be “luxurious”, and there is a transformational shift happening right now. Private jets are currently seeing a dramatic increase in a new type of passenger - young digital entrepreneurs and a new generation of tech savvy travelers. Their perception of luxury will greatly impact the future of the private jet industry. Now, the real question is - how can jet owners today prepare for the luxury trends of tomorrow?

First Impressions Last Forever This is both an exciting and nerve-wracking time for many jet charter companies. Travelers have high expectations when traveling privately. While still recovering from the effects of the global pandemic, jet charter operators must continue to live up to the prestigious and luxurious image of private jets. You can imagine the disappointment if a passenger traveling privately for the first time doesn’t receive the expected amenities or service. Innovative design features and extra comfort onboard should impress guests immediately and make their private jet experience unforgettable. Nothing demonstrates luxury quite like careful interior design and modern jet furniture. Even small jets can offer comfort to their passengers through designated cabin zones and custom-designed smart furniture, which provide plenty of legroom and functional space.

Many jet owners will need to consider reconfiguration of their jet cabin design and layout. Traditional bulkheads, walls and ceilings simply do not meet the expectations of the modern day passenger. In addition, the latest cabin trends often include innovative seating and other fresh furniture designs. You can even specify anti-gravitational recliner chairs (which recline and rotate in a way that makes you feel almost weightless). Many cabin designs also include sleek sofas, king-size beds, and custom furniture with unique features. In terms of luxury design, private jets offer unlimited possibilities.

Bed, Bath and Far Beyond For many passengers, a luxurious flight is one where they feel at home the entire journey. With a full-sized bath, a separate bedroom and dedicated private office, private jets can provide a truly at-home atmosphere. In these well-appointed private aircraft, passengers can take a shower in flight and be refreshed when they arrive at any destination.

AHGUIDE

Larger private aircraft have the space to install separate bedrooms large enough to accommodate a king-sized bed for guaranteed relaxation. However, designers have imagined many other simple and inventive sleeping solutions. For example, special single-seats are designed for sleeping one passenger, but when you combine two seats together, it creates a large flat surface that can be topped with a soft futon. Another popular option is a divan which expands into a very nice sleeping surface. A business jet, as the name suggests, is a place where passengers can conduct their business. Therefore, if a jet must have one thing that works perfectly, it should be a strong communication system. Regardless of your age or profession, communication is a vital part of life. Private jets without fast and reliable cabin communications are not aircraft that can fulfill the needs of the aircraft owners or passengers. Fortunately, there is a wide array of choices for new technology, services, and providers that can ensure your cabin has outstanding communication systems.

Food Makes All the Difference While often overlooked, the galley is a key factor in ensuring flying privately is an outstanding experience. Whether you are traveling for a short or long distance, your aircraft should feel like an extension of your home and office. With the right galley and chef, your jet might also start to feel like an extension of your kitchen! When it comes to beverages, there are many options. You can have the coffee of your choice with an onboard espresso maker that would give the espressos at your favorite cafe a run fort heir money. For the wine connoisseurs, private jets can have a wine refrigerator installed onboard which will make sure champagne, whites and reds are served at their optimum temperatures.

High-Class Service Many passengers judge their travel experience based on their interaction with the cabin crew. A warm welcome from the pilot and an experienced flight attendant who takes the time to call passengers by their name can go a long way. With the right preparation, the cabin crew will understand your preferences before you step onboard, welcoming you on board with your favorite drink, a selection of your favorite magazinesand a memorable meal. Great cabin crew is essential to a great travel experience.

Jet Entertainment Value When it comes to today’s onboard entertainment systems, the sky is really the limit. You can re-create incredible movie theatre experiences during your flight. Exceptional Dolby™ surround sound combined with large format 4K monitors can now be seamlessly integrated into your cabin. When you don't want to disturb your fellow passengers, wireless Bluetooth headphones can be the solution. The new generation of music and video on demand services are often installed to ensure all of your favorite content is available on large screens or streamed directly to your device. Video game consoles can also be brought onboard so passengers can immerse themselves in their favorite game while in the sky. Luxury is always in the eye of the beholder. However, private jets have the impossible task of fulfilling all of the expectations new passengers have, in order to keep them using this service into the future. Travelers transitioning from commercial airlines to private travel are expecting a true flying experience like never before. If you have an outdated but capable jet, it is imperative to update it now with modern features. Camber Aviation Management’s experts work with diverse owners and passengers on a daily basis to better understand their needs. Using our insights, we can guide you in transforming your jet into a luxury statement that will impress both seasoned travelers and first-time private jet passengers.

From Part M to Part-CAMO: A closer look at the transition. The transition from Part M, Subpart G to Part-CAMO was implemented by EASA on March 24th in 2020. Roughly one and a half years later the transition is ongoing with an official deadline on March 24th in 2022. What does it mean for aircraft owners regarding their aircraft management and what are the main changes? For most operators, aircraft owners, and even CAMOs and national authorities, the transition process is hard to manage and often connected to a lot of question marks. The good news first: For aircraft which are noncomplex hardly anything will change unless they are not operated under an AOC. A non-complex aircraft is defined by the Maximum Take-Off Weight (MTOW) which must be lower than 5,700 kg, the configuration/capacity of passengers, which must be lower than 19 persons. Additionally, if the aircraft is certified for a crew of at least two pilots or equipped with a turbojet or more than one turboprop engine it is also regarded as a complex aircraft and therefore the management has to follow Part-CAMO.

Your aircraft is not affected by any of the restrictions above and you are operating NCO? Then you are on the safe side. If not, there are a lot of requirements to show attention to. But what is new about Part-CAMO compared to Part M?

Safety Management System The first point to mention is that with Part-CAMO a Safety Management System (SMS) must be implemented. Besides that there is a new key role named “Safety Manager” was created. With some exceptions due to the amount of requirements, the Compliance Manager and Safety Manager could be the same person. Both, the CM and SM must have the same qualification (eg. Gen Fam Type training) as the organization’s PCA under the new Part-CAMO. In general, this system and the position of a Safety Manager was created to enhance safety and minimize risks.

AHGUIDE

Safety Risk Management & Safety Assurance The Safety Risk Management (SRM) process provides for initial identification of hazards and assessment of risk. Safety risk controls are developed, and once they are determined to be capable of bringing the safety risk to ALARP – these controls are employed in daily operations. It is at this point that the Safety Assurance (SA) function takes over. Safety Assurance assures that organizational controls are being practiced and that all types of controls continue to achieve their intended objectives.

Management of Change Management of Change (MoC) represents the next point on the list of reforms of Part M and represents a part of the Safety Management System. More precisely, it is part of the Assurance Program. MoC is a process to identify external and internal triggers that may affect the appropriateness or effectiveness of existing safety risk mitigation strategies and to eliminate or modify safety risk controls that are no longer needed or effective due to changes in the operational environment. Therefore, before any change in the organization is planned, such as e.g. the implementation and deployment of new technologies, changes to the organizational structure, etc. the potential risks that might occur are evaluated. Again, these innovations in Part-CAMO should and will enhance safety and make procedures more tangible and in the end more feasible. All in all, there are a lot more new aspects when having a closer look at Part-CAMO. These three to four points above were just an excerpt of the more important ones and a good example of how significant the changes are. That is why it is crucial to have a service provider, which started early to make to new system work for them.

We at PRIMUS AERO manage safety by ensuring that, through our safety management process, the safety risks of the consequences of hazards in critical activities related to the provision of services are controlled to a level as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP). This safety risk management encompasses two distinct activities: hazard identification and safety risk assessment and mitigation.

CAMO - ICA´s Instructions for Continuing Airworthiness The practical guide how to get things done! Where do I get them from? ICA´s for the Aircraft, Engine, and Propeller will be usually provided by the Manufacturer itself. Most of them come with a yearly cost and others are free. There are also companies offering an aircraft package which includes all required manuals which comes quiete handy if you have aircraft, engine and propeller manuals for your aircraft type.

What are ICA´s ? Instructions for Continuing Airworthiness are issued by the Type Certificate (TC) Holder Supplemental Type Certificat (STC) Holder and are usually contained in the Aircraft (AMM), Engine (EMM) and Propeller (PMM) Maintenance Manual. Usually found in Chapter 4 & 5 or the Maintenance Planning Document (MPD). There are also ICA´s issued for Suplemental Type Certificates (STC´s) or Minor Changes (MC). ICA ´s give you instructions on the service & inspection intervals of the systems or part on the aircraft.

ICA´s for STC´s and MC you will have to contact the company directly and ask for any new revision and changes. This is usually part of the yearly AMP review to check all ICA´s for new revisions and changes which must be implemented in the AMP.

Why do I need them ? Whenever a new revision of an AMM, EMM, PMM, STC, or MC is released the CAMO has to review the new revision and check if any ICA´s have been added, removed, or changed. If any task has been revised then the Aircraft Maintenance Programme (AMP) must be revised. For example, the Engine Manufacturer has found out that the Oil Pressure Switch must be Overhauled/Replaced at the Engine Overhaul schedule and is added now to the ICA´s for the Engine. The CAMP will add this task in the AMP and once the AMP is approved the maintenance tracking system must be updated to reflect the AMP accordingly. This procedure makes sure the aircraft and its components are always maintained in the best way possible. "Please note this is a practical guide and for information only. Please refer to your company procedures and official documents."
