How Do You Spell "Luxury" at 30,000 Feet? SHOWER! March - 2021 When thinking of pure luxury, a picture of Hollywood stars and business moguls stepping out of a private jet, after returning from their holidays, invariably comes to mind. Comfortable seats, large 4k screens with a theatre surround sound and wonderful meals are luxury symbols we think of when we talk about private jets. But imagine your favorite star trying to freshen up and bending over a tiny sink for a brief face wash in a small lavatory. Where is a refreshing shower when you need it? Only larger private jets give you the space necessary to fit a real washroom that enhances the luxury of owning the plane. But even then, installing a shower is challenging and it requires a lot of skill. Cabin humidity at high altitudes is very low and creates almost desert-like conditions. The humidity rate in your office or home is between 30% and 60%, but an aircraft cabin can have 5% or less humidity. Long-haul flights are especially challenging. Air humidifiers have been installed into aircraft cabins in recent years to increase comfort and reduce fatigue and now showers are in constant demand in private jets.

The Jet Shower All aircraft can fly, but not all of them have the space for a comfortable washroom. So far, Camber has overseen the fabrication and installation of over 20 custom private jet washrooms from simple and functional to extravagant with stone finishes, heated wood floors, double sink vanities, full-length mirrors and large showers. We have even overseen the installation of a beautiful make-up table with indirect lighting in the private suite. Once decided, we work closely with the designer and engineers to create an attractive 3D design that meets all aircraft safety regulations. We manage the process of fabrication, installation and certification of this custom-built solution. This includes the prevention of every possible moisture leak. Our jet washrooms must be comfortable and warm, and we achieve this with a heated floor made of special stone or wood veneers. Safety features include an attractive non-slip waterproof teakwood floor and grip handles. The waterproof door is made from glass and locks in place. A bigger shower room can be made for two persons. This extra space gives us the opportunity to transform the shower into a steam room. We achieve this by installing a custom steam generator and a carbon fiber bench wrapped with marble veneer. You can add essential oils to relax and enjoy the soft lit ambience and music from the waterproof surround-sound speakers. Camber’s expert's first task is to understand our client’s vision for their jet, and this includes, of course, our client’s expectations, we can even go further, beyond a simple shower to include a steam room or even a real hammam. These possibilities are available, and together with our clients, our task is to find out what kind of washroom they wish to have on their flights. Only then you will have a luxury jet you deserve.

ACC COLUMBIA Jet Service – Your Reliable Maintenance Provider
As maintenance and repair of aircraft is the core business at ACC COLUMBIA Jet Service since decades, we are very experienced in handling and processing huge projects the same as routine maintenance events. But even our well-trained team can be confronted with special challenges, in particular when several extensive checks must be performed at the same time in one maintenance facility.
At the beginning of March, Daniel Schulten, Station Manager of the facility at Cologne Bonn Airport welcomed two Gulfstream G200 for two 12 C checks which are performed simultaneously with a workload of 4 weeks for each project. Lisa Engling, Deputy Station Manager and Certifying Staff explains: “The 12 C check must be performed every 12 years and includes the removal of the complete interior from the galley and the passenger cabin to the lavatory and a detailed inspection of the airframe regarding damages and corrosion. Flight control cables, fuel and the landing gear must be examined precisely. All cockpit systems are inspected and substantial functional checks have to be performed after reinstallation.” Additionally, on one G200 a dual engine change was performed for overhaul purposes and both owner engines were replaced temporarily by loaner engines. Furthermore, a take-off safety enhancement modification on a Bombardier Challenger 604 is currently performed. To avoid critical situations during take-off caused by snow or ice, an automatic anti-ice system is implemented. In addition, a 192 month inspection was started on a different Challenger 604 in the middle of March. The 192 month inspection is the most extensive check that is performed repeatedly on Bombardier Challenger models. It includes the removal of the landing gear which must be shipped to the manufacturer for overhaul. In this special case, the aircraft owner uses the downtime for refurbishment of the cabin interior. Leather and wooden surfaces will be repaired and modernized. Finally, a 12 year inspection on a Bombardier Learjet 60 is close to be finished with full examination of the aircraft airframe, complete removal of the cabin interior and check of all avionic systems. In order to guarantee smooth processing of all projects at the same time, the complete staff has to focus on the tasks, must be prepared to compensate any unforeseen event and interact permanently with customers and colleagues. Station Manager Daniel Schulten is convinced: “The aim to implement the customer’s necessities with the release to service of the aircraft in the specified downtime is only possible with our professional team of specialists that is always willing to support each other across the branches and in the interest of our customers.” WWW.AVIATIONHEAVEN.COM

CAMO - Aircraft Storage
The practical guide how to get things done! Why is it important to do storage? We have seen recently that unforeseen circumstances will lead to an extended time on the ground which requires actions in terms of aircraft parking and storage. It´s not only important to protect your aircraft against weather conditions and corrosion, but also it plays a significant role when you don´t do it. Worst case if not storage checks are done on the engines you have to return them to an Overhaul/Repair facility incurring major costs.
Where can I find storage procedures for my Aircraft and Engines? The parking and storage instructions are found within your Maintenance Programme for your aircraft and also in the respective Airframe and Engine Maintenance Manuals. The checks are usually bound to time intervals as to how long the aircraft and engines won´t be operated. Additionally, there are instructions on how to get the aircraft back to service after storage which is an important part to make sure all systems are working satisfactorily.
