The Game-Changing Impact of Digital Transformation in the A&D Supply Chain
Hosted Session by
The aerospace and defense industry continues to grapple with persistent challenges in quality and performance within its supply chains. Amidst the complexities of modern manufacturing and intricacies in government contracting, the defense industrial base has also managed disruptions exacerbated by the economic uncertainties stemming from geopolitical tensions and global events like the COVID pandemic. This session explores essential strategies for supply chain resilience: • Emphasizing supplier diversity and digital solutions for enhanced visibility and management. • Offering practical insights on risk identification, effective contingency plans, and monitoring key performance indicators. • Highlighting the evolving supply chain dynamics, stressing continuous assessment, improvement, and robust relationships through digital transformation. Padma Raghunathan, Product Manager, Deltek + TIP Technologies
Multiple OEMs were unable to deliver their projected number of aircrafts or engines as supply chain shortfalls continue to plague the industry. How are OEMs, suppliers, logistics operators and others addressing these challenges? What policy initiatives are being discussed to bring relief to some of the most vulnerable issues? This panel will discuss some of the more problematic issues decision makers are facing today and offer ideas on how to move beyond some of the more crippling problems.
2:55pm
The Weakest Links in The Aerospace Digital Thread – Factory Digital Twins Most OEMs and Tier 1s have embraced the Digital Thread of the product life cycle as the basis for step improvements in productivity. Undoubtedly, future aircraft launches will have these productivity gains baked in their business cases. While enormous advances are taking place in developing and sustaining Product Digital Twins, factory digitalization or Factory Digital Twin technology applications are still patchy even at the OEMs. It doesn’t have to be this way. We will explain the essential elements of the Digital Twin technology with examples that are affordable, easy to implement, and powerful productivity drivers on the shop floor. The question is not whether your company needs it for ‘faster & better’ decision-making in production, but how best to accomplish it. The survey conducted by Aviation Week Events and FactoryTwin Moderator: Dr. Vivek Saxena, CEO, FactoryTwin 3:20pm Collaboration Break – Sierra Foyer

Stuck in the Doldrums: State of the Industry Report
While demand signals have strengthened considerably as both commercial aerospace and defense have recovered, persistent supply chain bottlenecks have prevented the industry from growing to its full potential. At the same time, there are both long-term opportunities and long-term threats on the horizon for aviation and aerospace. Sustainability pressures could constrain air travel demand growth, but they could also usher in a wave of investments in new alternative propulsion and fuel technologies. Glenn McDonald, Principal, AeroDynamic 4:20pm
Is More Consolidation Inevitable in the Global Supply Chain?
Large groups are continuing to reshape their portfolios and in theory economies of scale should help to mitigate some of the many pressures facing the supply chain. Many sectors have a fragmented supply base, but gaining synergies from aerospace acquisitions can be hard. Will interest in the aerospace and defense sectors from PE and other financial buyers start to wane in the face of uncertainties about longer-term prospects? What are the pros and cons of more consolidation? Moderator: Craig Musson, President, WECAN2 LLC Richard Apps, Director, Counterpoint Market Intelligence Limited 4:50pm – 6:00pm
