Welcome Dear Colleagues, When we last came together for MRO Asia-Pacific 2019 in Singapore, I don’t think anyone would have predicted the ways in which our world has since changed. While the first half of 2020 has been a time of great uncertainty in both our everyday lives and our industry, I have been greatly encouraged by the tenacity and resiliency our MRO community has demonstrated. This is why I have no doubt that our community will come together once again this week, as we embark on this virtual journey together. The purpose of MRO Asia-Pacific Virtual is to break down physical barriers and to build communities. Our goal is to offer a virtual event that is just as dynamic and exciting as our past in-person events. We took care in finding the right platform for this unique event and we hope to replicate the best parts of the in-person experience. To do this, we will need your help! I encourage each of you to step outside of your traditional comfort zones, be creative, and embrace the virtual meeting and networking elements that allow us to connect. Take some time to explore and familiarize yourself with the platform, build your attendee profile and take advantage of the Matched Networking meetings. The platform does the work for you, so that you can focus on your business. The best part of your virtual event experience is that you are in the driver’s seat. From accepting potential networking matches to watching conference sessions live or on demand at your convenience, MRO Asia-Pacific Virtual is designed to work for you and your schedule. Welcome to MRO Asia-Pacific Virtual 2020
Jacqueline Smith, Senior Conference Producer, Aviation Week Network 9:35am
Keynote Presentation: Focus on China
All eyes are on China, as it will likely help to predict how recovery might look in the rest of the world. How are the commercial aviation and MRO markets in China recovering? What does that mean for the line maintenance, base maintenance and component sectors? Are the developments transferable to other regions? What role do government subsidies and public support play in China? What can the market in China tell us about demand recovery in other markets?
11:45am MRO Asia-Pacific Awards 2020
Complimentary session! Open to all attendees. 2:00pm Aero-Engines Industry Forecast
Join us for an examination of how the new demand environment changes long-term forecasts for fleet and MRO activity. Learn what can we expect to see from MROs in the short, medium and long-term and how has the recent crisis impacted the Asia Pacific engine community. What are the similarities between this downturn and previous ones? And which models are having an upsurge in demand through extended life cycles? Panellists will take a look at which models we can expect to see an over-supply of in the market and what type of deals are proving to be the most popular. Big data is great, but what can you DO with it? Aviation Week brings together aircraft OEMs, airlines and MROs to discuss how data analytics tools are helping to navigate the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. We’ll discuss everything from the immediate needs of airlines, OEMs and MROs to respond to an everchanging environment to how to prepare for the new realities of tomorrow, and how the industry will unlock the power of big data. 2:00pm The Journey to “On-Board AI” and
How it Will Transform MRO Complimentary session! Open to all attendees. Artificial Intelligence is heralded as the third great transformational revolution to aviation since the advent of the jet engine in the 1950s and fly-by-wire systems in the 1980s. Indeed, we’re already seeing how AI is beginning to transform MRO through widespread adoption of predictive maintenance systems and other advanced analytics. Still, the AI we use today in aviation is very much limited to the realm of the IT data center. Soon enough however, we’ll be able to put AI on the planes themselves. In this session, we’ll talk about the journey to enable “on-board AI,” and we’ll detail the industry standard effort that is working to make this happen. We’ll explore why the industry will want to take this next step and what it will mean to commercial aviation maintenance—from enabling tomorrow’s next generation predictive and prescriptive maintenance systems to automated self-repair platforms that will fundamentally reorder the MRO industry. Mark Roboff, GM of Digital Transformation, Aerospace & Defense, DXC Technology
Certification and Qualification of Metal AM for MROs Complimentary session! Open to all attendees. 2:15pm
Metal Additive Manufacturing (AM) is an on-demand option for part availability issues or low production quantities that are too expensive for traditional manufacturing. Yet, AM has faced limited adoption with MROs because the part quality requires certification and qualification. This session will cover the following: • Understand the most efficient path to certification and qualification of AM printed parts for MROs • Discuss the value of having a metal AM material property database (recognized by the FAA) for the full aviation supply chain - not just limited to Tier 1 providers. Will Hasting, Director of Aviation and Power Turbine Solutions, VELO3D

Engine Leaders Panel
10:00am Aircraft Interiors & Cabin Modifications
Throughout 2020, we have seen unprecedented MRO and overhaul cancellations and deferrals. In this panel, engine leaders review the lasting effects of this downturn, including the changes to budgets and decision making. What are the challenges ahead for the supply chain? And what can we expect to see from collaborations in the market? How quickly can engine overhaul providers and the associated supply chain ramp their capacity back up after a period of inactivity? Do they need to facilitate faster transitions to now meet alternative needs?
Air travel today looks very different from air travel in 2019… and if our panelists are to be believed, commercial aircraft cabins could soon see a radical redesign. As airlines and governments look to set new standards for passenger safety in light of the global pandemic, this session examines how social distancing measures could be achieved through a rethinking of aircraft interiors. Possible solutions include cabin modifications, seat reconfigurations, and updates to IFE systems and non-touch technology.
Moderator: Sean Broderick, Senior Air Transport and Safety Editor, Aviation Week Network Nur Ashikin Bt Mohammad Ariff, Head, CAMO, Engineering and Maintenance Department, Firefly Airlines Jaap Beijer, President & CEO, MTU Maintenance Zhuhai Simon Middlebrough, CEO, Singapore Aero Engines Services (SAESL) Caroline Vandedrinck, SVP, Sales, SR Technics

Day Three | Thursday, September 24 9:00am
Managing the Transitional USM Market Sponsored by
Before the pandemic, there was a high shortage of Used Serviceable Materials. Now, with the early retirement of many engines, we take a look at how this has affected buy/sell strategies and what outcomes we might see in the transition to a buyers’ from a sellers’ market. What is the cost benefit analysis of an over-supplied environment? How are airlines approaching changing USM strategies? And how has the need for liquidity put pressure on airlines to sell materials to ensure cash flow? What effects has the sharp decrease in material costs had on the market? What can we expect to see in the short, mid and long-term tactics of overhaul shops? Are we seeing a race to the bottom? Moderator: Rahul Shah, Senior Vice President – Strategic Growth and Business Development – Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa, AAR Corporation John Brooks, Senior Manager - USM, Boeing Luc Morvan, Chief Representative, MTU Maintenance Lease Services, Singapore Ramnik Soni, Chief Operating and Financial Officer, Alaris Aerospace Systems

How have regulatory extensions and waivers affected aftermarket operations, and what challenges does the inevitable “catch-up” phase present? What opportunities have been created during the pandemic? We are now seeing remote inspections, alternative audit procedures as well as other new measures from social distancing. How has this made the oversight process more efficient? Sarah MacLeod, Executive Director, Aeronautical Repair Station Association (ARSA) 11:30am Independent MROs Surviving The Storm
The fallout from COVID-19 and the global pandemic has been swift and far reaching for airlines and aftermarket providers worldwide. Take a closer look at the strategies independent MROs are relying on to survive and the opportunities likely to present themselves as the industry recovers. How 3rd party MROs can conserve cash, increase operational flexibility, match skills and expertise to OEMs and operators’ needs and come out on top.
