WELCOME
Dear Colleague, It took a little longer than expected but here we are in the beautiful city of Istanbul. We would like to thank our host sponsor Turkish Technic who were dedicated to getting the re-focused MRO Baltics & Eastern Europe Region (BEER) event to Turkey. I know they are also looking forward to hosting those of you who are registered for the facility tour located at the Sabiha Gokcen Airport on Thursday afternoon. We hope that over the next two days this community can work together and engage with some of the most important topics for the region. Our top-level speakers will explore the impact of recent disruption on the aftermarket and the crucial ongoing supply chain challenges. As the critical topic of sustainability runs alongside all our operations and planning, we have a panel considering the key technologies and challenges. Other important discussions will address the engine market, how customer demand and priorities have changed around digitalisation and the expectations and outlook for retirements and USM. We also look forward to an operator panel including insights from Pegasus Airlines, LOT and Texel Air on key airline cost considerations, improvement areas for suppliers and partners as well as what they have changed to prepare for a successful future. We are delighted to welcome Wizz Air as our Keynote speaker for 2022. The proud ultra low-cost carrier from Hungary has been busy hiring, adding seats and expanding destinations and routes and we look forward to hearing from Head of Technical Services, Julia Brix. Additionally on the agenda for 2022 we invite you to join working groups to discuss the critical workforce challenge and where and how to attract and source the future workforce. We hope there will be sharing on this important issue which affects the whole of the industry to increase understanding on how to co-operate more effectively in development of a common supportive environment. Are training and education approaches ‘up-to-date’ and in line with the realistic
demands of the workplace? What is needed from regulators? What is the role for digital and new technology in training and education? Who can share ideas on how to increase the attractiveness of the industry? Please join in on Wednesday afternoon for increased learning and understanding with industry peers. In all the sessions we hope you will put your hand up and ask questions. We will also be using Slido to allow participation through your mobiles and devices – if preferred you can just visit slido.com and enter the hashtag #MROBEER to put forward questions and feedback. Please join in to get the best out of our speakers and sessions. In addition to host sponsor Turkish Technic we would like to thank Premium sponsor LOTAMS for the welcome reception, Boeing, myTECHNIC and Setna iO and sponsors FL Technics, OMS Aero Group and Wencor as well as media partners MRO Business Today and Aviation Turkey. Finally we want to mention that in our role connecting international communities, Aviation Week Network knows first-hand that progress and problem-solving comes from working together, not against one another. We stand firmly with the people of Ukraine, most notably our customers and partners, and their loved ones in the region, and with all who are championing harmony, unity and progress toward peace. Many thanks for joining us in Istanbul and being part of this community, we look forward to working with you.
