PETER ROWE Josh Goes to the Library

Friday 10 October 6.00 for 6.30pm Josh takes his toy friends to the library because they are bored at home and he thinks they will benefit from this new experience. But things don’t turn out quite as Josh expected when the toys are let loose in this strange new place. Peter Rowe has Down syndrome and other conditions that restrict his ability to articulate speech. For the first 30 years of his life he was unable to communicate but thanks to a system called Facilitated Communication (FC) he is now able to live a full and meaningful life. Since discovering FC he has become an exhibiting artist, has written, illustrated and published seven children’s books, and has regular public speaking engagements. His goal in life is not only to encourage others with a disability, but also to show the world what people with a disability are capable of, and what they can achieve, given the right support, encouragement and opportunities.
