PROJECT 1 RESTAURANT- 120 PEOPLE THEME : MODERN MOROCCON INFUSION

Despite its turbulent history, Morocco has retained the richest artistic heritage, at least in terms of the Islamic period. Moroccans also excelled in ceramics, woodwork, books, textiles, jewellery and weaponry. In other words morocco has got a history of rich art and architecture. The concept of this project is modern Moroccan infusions which implies a beautiful amalgamation of traditional Moroccan art and modern eclectic designs for the restaurant. The interiors consist of interesting mix of Moroccan patterns and arches with modern hues and décor.

DESIGN BRIEF AND SPACE VISUALISATION SPACE VISUALISATION The space is divided to two floors, ground floor level and first floor level. Both the spaces have got their own essence and atmosphere and hence bound by the same tied elements yet have got different feel to them. Ground floor level is allotted to fine dining space where families and kids can be served and the first floor is a relaxing space with a bar and low seating space.  Staircase and lift is adjacent to the main guest entrance so as to avoid traffic near the serving guests.  Also, seating is provided near the staircase as a waiting area for waiting customers.  Kitchen, Staff toilet, changing room and store are given adjacent to each other so the entire space is private with a passage which opens to all these spaces from outside staff entry. Hence unnecessary traffic and disturbance is avoided.

PROJECT 2 : BOUTIQUE HOTEL THEME: NAVRATNAS- ECLECTIC GLAM

Boutique Hotel requires the skills of decorating with a unique theme and concept and also needs a strong sense of entrepreneurship along with a high sense of aesthetics. The boutique hotel i have chosen offers luxury accommodation with other allied commercial activities like Restaurant, salon, an Exclusive wine bar, handicrafts store. Not only i was required to see how can I make the space look Aesthetically beautiful but also commercially viable. This challenge drove me to design a complex, Luxurious boutique hotel based on the concept of The Navratnas ( the nine precious gemstones). Taking inspiration from the cuts, colour of the Gemstones and a unique amalgamation of the 1920s Era and the Mughal Period which i call the ‘Eclectic Glam’, the design attempts to create an ambience that is glamorous yet soothing. 16

The theme chosen for the space is Transitional. My twist to the theme and added highlight is an interesting mix of rustic and glam. The highlight around the whole space is its rustic false ceiling with bevelled mirrors. A lot of jacquard and gold is used in the upholstery.

Asian Paints Colour Verve Competition Theme : RUSTIC POP Position : First The theme we got inspired for the competition was RusticPop, which was an interesting and unique blend of rustic interiors and pop bright colours inspired from the era of pop art. When it came to rustic we were inspired by alot of natural elements which either reflected the earthy tones of colours or the course texture when we think of rustic and it reflected in our textures of wall and decor elements. We tried to mix it with the very bright hues of pop art like blues and yellows. We tried to blend the east and the west together as both the art themes are quiet different to each other which was our challenge and we incorporated it beautifully. We were also inspired the Indian Dhabas as they also reflect our theme in their own unique cultural way. Physical mood board inspired by indian Dhaba culture and pop art.

SET DESIGN

Created a set with keeping in mind the product ‘ perfume’ . The perfume chosen for the theme was ‘Hypnotic Poison by Dior’. The packaging of the perfume bottle is very sensuous and dark as the name also suggests. Keeping it in mind the design was created. Material used was real dried branches of the tree which were painted with a swing with feathers and dried leaves all over. The whole theme was dark , sensuous and scintillating keeping the product in mind

Three planks of wood were collected and stuck together and were covered by red sand which had a husky , course and rough texture. It was decored with material such as shells, tooth picks, nails, stones and old looking buttons in order to depict the kind of language written in the ancient times.
