At AVSI Foundation, we recognize that vulnerability of children and their families is a major impediment to the attainment of a balanced development. Whenever we talk about vulnerability, key concepts such as inequality and inequity become common words. To us therefore, tackling child and household vulnerability is not just a social but also a political imperative - a way of gaining social fairness and economic efficiency of the community. John Makoha. Country Representative
SCORE is a 38.3 million USD seven year USAID funded cooperative agreement implemented by AVSI Foundation. The project has delivered a family tailored mix of interventions to 31,943 households over the last five years, focusing on improving household economic and food security, enhancing protection and legal services for vulnerable children, and strengthening the capacity of families to access and acquire critical services such as health and education.

I was a violent man, my children and other family members preferred to stay away from me because of my behavior. SCORE knocked at my door, taught me simple farming methods which I practice around my home. SCORE woke me up to a new reality, one in which i respect and love my wife and children.. I now own a bricklaying business, I have built a four-bedroomed permanent house, my children are in school, at home we feed well and I am now working hard with my wife to keep our family even more productive. Our children now use solar for their reading at home. Our story is helping neighboring families to become more stable - Patrick Higenyi; Busaba sub-county Butaleja district.
