Cottonwood AZ to Host AVTT Traveling Wall

American Veterans Traveling Tribute’s Traveling Wall Coming to Cottonwood AZ in March 2013 Cottonwood AZ — Veterans and active members of America’s armed services travel great distances and make great sacrifices to preserve and protect freedom and liberty, how far will you travel to honor their contribution?

The American Veterans Traveling Tribute will visit Cottonwood from March 27-31 2013 with the AVTT Traveling Wall and is being sponsored and coordinated by VFW Post 7400 and the City of Cottonwood.

This event is to serve as a Welcome Home for Vietnam Veterans but veterans of all conflicts, active duty, and the general public are warmly welcomed as well. The event will kick off with an escorted arrival of the AVTT Traveling Wall on Wednesday March 27th. The AVTT Traveling Wall will then be on display at Cottonwood Middle School (500 E. Mingus Avenue) from Thursday March 28th thru Sunday March 31st.

The AVTT Traveling Wall escort will begin at parking lot of the Wendy’s/Chevron Gas Station at Hwy 260/I-17 Junction in Camp Verde, AZ. Staging of motorcycles and vehicles will begin at 3:00pm with departure at 3:30pm. All riders and vehicles are welcome. The AVTT Traveling Wall will be escorted to Cottonwood Middle School and set up of the AVTT Traveling Wall will take place on Thursday morning.

The AVTT Traveling Wall will be open for public viewing from noon on Thursday thru 3PM on Sunday.

The mission of the project is to travel the nation to honor, respect, and remember men and women who served, and to pay specific tribute to those who gave all in that service. Since the tribute is mobile it allows people to honor and respect veterans and active military personnel without having to travel great distances to do so.

The AVTT presents the Traveling Wall, an 80 percent scale version of the Viet Nam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. Across its 360-foot length the wall contains every single name etched on the original.

At its apex the memorial is an impressive eight-feet tall.

The AVTT Traveling Wall was completed in early 1998 and began traveling that year. AVTT’s Traveling Wall is the largest Wall replica traveling the USA, and is not to be confused with several other replica Walls; The Moving Wall, The Dignity Wall, the Wall That Heals. These replica Walls do a fine job, and we are all on a mutual mission.
