HOW 2-1-1 HELPS INDIVIDUALS STRUGGLING TO PAY FOR UTILITIES • Provides information and options to prevent utility shutoffs. • Helps individuals determine their options to reinstate utilities if they have been shutoff already. • Assists homeowners in locating programs that provide loans and grants for weatherization to reduce overall utility costs. • Educates renters and homeowners on energy saving programs.
HOW 2-1-1 HELPS HEALTHCARE • Prevents unnecessary emergency room visits by referring individuals to appropriate care. • Informs individuals about illness prevention, health screenings and evaluations. • Connects individuals with public insurance options, as well as other health care expense-related assistance programs to the uninsured and underinsured. • Acts as the engine behind numerous local and national health programs such as Flu on Call and the National Epilepsy Hotline.
HOW 2-1-1 MOVES FAMILIES TO FINANCIAL STABILITY • Increases income and prepares individuals for the workforce by connecting individuals to free tax preparation and tax credits, job training and education programs. • Moves people from financial crisis to stability by referring them to debt and credit repair counseling and financial management classes. • Prepares individuals for emergencies by encouraging them to open checking and savings accounts and create financial goals. • Builds futures by providing resources for housing counseling and loan programs.
