MEET DR. JACOBS A native of the Kansas City area, Dr. Jacobs received a B.A. from Columbia University in the City of New York. He graduated from Mayo Medical School, part of the esteemed Mayo Clinic and then completed dual residencies in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He was honored as Chief Resident in his final year because of his outstanding clinical and teaching skills. He is a Board Diplomate in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He also serves as Clinical Assistant Professor at University of Kansas School of Medicine. Dr. Jacobs is Vice President of Doctors Outeach Clinics (www.doctorsoutreachclinics.org) an international institution specializing in improving health clinics abroad by using high technologies, medical research, and medical education. He is also President and Founder of Mid-America Physicians for a National Health Program, a political advocacy organization dedicated to universal health care and health care reform. In 2006, Dr. Jacobs was honored with an American College of Physicians humanitarian award for his work in developing a clinic that treated nearly 1000 patient evacuees from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita from the American South.

Services for both Adult (Internal) Medicine and Child (Pediatric) Medicine. Preventive Care: including immunizations, consultation, and pertinent medical testing. Urgent Care: All ill patients will be seen in a timely manner, within a few hours if needed. Consultations: Within the fields of internal medicine and pediatric medicine. House Calls are available upon request. Special Interests: Preventive cardiology, coronary artery disease, and arrhythmias. Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Pulmonary Embolism and Thrombotic Disorders. Peripheral Vascular Disease Diabetes mellitis and thyroid disorders. Hypertension and chronic kidney disease. Headache, including migraine. Dyspepsia, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Ear infections, RSV Newborn Care, neonatal rashes, neonatal jaundice.

Rapport With Patients Dr. Jacobs feels it is important that high quality service means sufficient time for each patient, both in and out of the office. Sometimes patients forget to ask all of their questions during their visit. Dr. Jacobs welcomes calls and emails regarding the health of his patients. Dr. Jacobs strongly feels that good communication with patients and any consulting physicians enhance the care his patients receive. Expertise in the Physician’s Specialty Dr. Jacobs brings not just his medical knowledge, but whole approach he learned training at two of the top three rated hospitals in the United States by US News and World Reports.

Always accessible, responsive, and convenient

The practice will maintain a low number of patients and appointments to ascertain easy, accessible scheduling of appointments and sufficient time with each patient.

Hospital Services If a patient requires hospitalization, Dr. Jacobs will be the attending physician and work with any required consultants. Housecalls Dr. Jacobs is happy to provide housecalls for his patients. He may initiate treatments including oral or respiratory medications, injections, and may collect blood samples for laboratory testing. Fees Charges are competitive with those physicians that negotiate with insurance companies. Dr. Jacobs is happy to assist in filing receipts for patients to their insurance companies, but he does not collect or negotitate fees with insurance companies. This allows him spend more time and provide better service to his patients. Patients may pay for services with cash, check, or credit card. Typically medical insurance does reimburse patients for “out-of-network” providers, so total out-of-pocket expenses are competitive with those practices that file insurance. Receipts and other materials will be provided to patients to simplify their communications with insurance companies.
