The AWI Quarterly is a full-color magazine that explores current animal welfare issues including treatment of animals in the laboratory, on the farm, in trade, at home, and in the wild. In this issue, we discuss the US Fish and Wildlife Service’s egregious proposal to remove endangered species protections for gray wolves across the United States. Meanwhile, grade school kids across the country are raising awareness about the need to protect endangered species. AWI announces grant opportunities to develop and test innovative methods to improve the welfare of animals in research through refinements in care, husbandry, and housing.
