Watch out Escondido, here comes change. According to life-style authorities, the next 10 years in Escondido will be a time where new replaces old, the city becomes younger, wealthier and more diverse. As late as October 2019, demographic data shows Escondido as being 74% white. That will change. By 2029, 68% of the population will be white. is between 20 -59 years of age – this age group will increase to nearly 72% in the next decade by some estimates.
And, that’s not all. Residents of Escondido will get richer – some 43% of residents now earn under $50,000 annually – in 10 short years, this number will be 31%. Why? More education-based, health care services and enterprise software firms will conduct business in Escondido, hiring younger, more educated personnel. These better paying jobs will increase
those earning over $100,000 a year and more, from the current 21% to 34%.
Why are so many young people of wealth being attracted to Escondido? In a word, housing. Couple more living space with new and more progressive leadership at city hall and you have a winner. A bit of history from the city’s web site helps us understand this growth pattern. The web site states, “Settled in a long valley in the coastal moun-
