1 Safety instructions Thank you for choosing our product. Please read this manual carefully and observe all safety and operating instructions. Store the manual in a safe place for later reference. Caution •
Please note that the device may not be used while the vehicle is in motion. It may only be used when the vehicle is parked!

When operating the device in a vehicle, make sure that it does not inhibit the driver's forward or rear view and that it does not interfere with the safe operation of the vehicle. Otherwise injuries or accidents may result. The driver must not operate the device or look at the screen while driving. Never expose the device to rain, moisture or humidity. Malfunctions, damage and electric shocks can occur as a result. Do not open the casing of the device under any circumstances, and do not attempt to repair or modify the device. Do not use the mains cable for other devices. Malfunctions, damage, electric shocks and fires can occur as a result. Do not place the device near the airbag in the vehicle, thus avoiding functional disorders. When the airbag deploys, the device or accessories may be flung through the vehicle and thus can cause injuries and accidents. The device must not overheat. Malfunctions, damage, smoke and fires can occur as a result. When connecting the device to other electric devices, always follow the manufacturer's instructions. Adhere to the terminal connexion diagram to avoid damage, and connect the power plug last. Make sure that no cables are laying loosely and that cable ends with bare wires do not touch any metal objects. Replace the rechargeable lithium batteries only with batteries of the same or a similar type. If the wrong type of rechargeable batteries is used, there is a risk of explosion. Place the device in a secure spot where it cannot shift or fall. If used in a vehicle, the device must be securely fastened to avoid injuries or accidents resulting from the device shifting or falling down.

The device is a class 1 laser product. The corresponding label is located on the rear side of the device. When the housing has been opened and the lock is not engaged, visible laser radiation can escape. Avoid looking into the laser beam by all means. During a thunderstorm, disconnect the device from the mains. Do not use the device during a thunderstorm. Malfunctions, damage and electric shocks can occur as a result. Do not use the device if there is visible damage to it. Accidents, fires and electric shocks can occur as a result. Immediately contact the seller from whom you bought the device. Do not open the device. The device does not contain any parts that can be serviced by the user. In case of malfunctions or damage, maintenance or repair work may be required. All maintenance and repair should be conducted by qualified service technicians only. Install the cables so that they do not present an obstacle to operating the vehicle or to getting into or out of the vehicle. Make sure that no cables can accidentally wrap around the steering wheel, the pedals or any passenger's feet. Tie the cables together. If operating the device inside a vehicle, do not set the volume level too high so that you are still able to hear sounds occurring on the inside and outside of your vehicle. Otherwise accidents can occur. Make sure that the cables are not damaged, stretched or twisted and that no short circuits occur. This could lead to electric shocks and fires. Install the cables in such a way that they do not come in contact with any movable parts. Do not install any cables near heaters and do not place any heavy objects on them. Make sure that no objects or fluids can penetrate into the device though openings or venting slots. This could lead to short circuits, damage, electric shocks and fires. Do not place any objects that contain liquids, such as vases, on top of the device.

The mains voltage must correspond to the operating voltage of the device indicated on the device housing. If you are not sure what the mains voltage is, please find out from your local electric power company. Ensure adequate air circulation around the device. Do not place the device on soft furniture, carpets or other materials while in operation, as this may restrict the air from properly circulating around the device. Shelves and cupboards are also not suitable locations for operating the device. Use only accessories specified or supplied by the device manufacturer. This also applies to any attachments and fasteners. Before connecting electrical devices to the DVD player, you must make sure that the device you want to connect as well as the DVD player are turned off and disconnected from the mains. Connect the device only to mains sockets that are properly earthed (protective earth). Do not use any discs that are burred, scratched, bent or broken, that are damaged or deformed in any other way or that are of poor quality. Do not play any discs of a wrong format. For example, if you assign the extension “.cda” to a file that does not, in fact, have this format, a very loud sound may be played that can damage speakers. Do not touch the TFT LCD screen with your bare hand. Do not place any heavy objects on top of the device. Otherwise malfunctions or damage may result. Do not expose the remote control to direct sunlight. This may cause malfunctions or the batteries to leak. When cleaning the device, do not use any volatile substances, such as solvents, to avoid damaging the surface. Clean the device only using a soft, dry cloth. Keep the device in a clean, dry location where it is not exposed to direct sunlight. Disconnect the power plug from the socket when you do not use the device for an extended period of time. Remove the batteries from the remote control when you do not use the device for an extended period of time.

Note DVD players and discs are coded by region. Your DVD player will only play back discs whose region code matches that of the player. The region code of your DVD player is 0 (code-free).

Inserting the battery (remote control) Place the remote control on a plain surface and insert the battery as described below:

Pull out the battery compartment in the direction of the arrow.
Insert the new battery (with plus side up).
Push the battery compartment back into the remote control.
Use only batteries of the type CR2025 with a voltage of 3V. Under normal conditions (room temperature), a battery last for about one year.

Aim the remote control straight at the sensor of the player. The distance to the player should not be greater than 5m, and the angle should not exceed 60°. The inappropriate use of the battery can lead to overheating, explosion, fire and injuries. Leaking batteries can damage the remote control. Do not expose the remote control to direct sunlight. The battery must not be recharged, deformed, disassembled or overheated. Do not throw the battery into water or fire. Replace discharged batteries immediately.

5 Connecting the DVD player • The DVD player, the television set and any other electric devices to be connected to the DVD player must be switched off and disconnected from the mains. • Observe the colour coding when connecting audio and video cables.
5.1 Connecting to a television set Audio/video connectors Using the audio/video cables, connect the DVD player to the A/V inputs of the television set as shown in the illustration below.

5.2 Connecting to an amplifier Prior to connecting the DVD player to an external audio device, read the operating instructions for the respective device. Connect the DVD player to the A/V amplifier as shown in the illustration below.

5.3 Connecting to an external A/V source Using the audio/video cables, connect the DVD player to the A/V signal source (for example, DVD or video recorder) as shown in the illustration below. Then set the DVD/AV IN switch to AV IN. Note When external audio signals are received during DVD playback, this can lead to disturbing noise in the loudspeakers. If this is the case, disconnect the audio cable.

5.4 Connecting headphones Connect the headphones to the headphone jack on the right side of the device. The loudspeakers are automatically deactivated.
5.5 Power supply unit The DVD player is delivered with a power supply unit. Connect the power supply unit as described below: Connect the power supply cable to the DC 9.5V IN jack on the right side of the device as shown below. Connect the power plug to an earthed socket. The power supply indicator lamp lights up red.
Note 1. Turn off the DVD player before you unplug the mains cable from the socket. 2. When the DVD player operates on mains power, the LCD screen lights up brighter than when it operates on battery power.

5.6 Car adapter Use the supplied car adapter to operate the DVD player in a vehicle. Connect the adapter cable as shown below to the mains terminal of the DVD player and the cigarette lighter of the vehicle.
Note 1. The driver must not operate the device or look at the screen while driving. 2. Position the device in a way that ensures an uninhibited view. 3. Remove the rechargeable battery pack before connecting the device using the car adapter. 4. If possible, disconnect the car adapter cable while starting the vehicle.

6 Rechargeable battery pack A rechargeable lithium ion battery is included in the scope of delivery of your portable DVD player. This battery is connected on the rear side of the device. Fully charge the battery before you use the device for the first time. Normally it takes about five hours for the battery to be charged. When the rechargeable battery is fully charged, you can operate the device with it for about three hours. However, the actual operating time also depends on the disc you use. Fully charge the battery when it will not be used for an extended period of time. Notes on using rechargeable batteries: ¾
When using a new rechargeable battery, fully charge it prior to use.
¾
Use rechargeable batteries only in temperatures between 0°C and 40°C.
¾
Do not throw the battery into water or fire.
¾
Do not expose rechargeable batteries to high temperatures or direct sunlight.
¾
Ensure adequate air circulation around the device. Do not place the device on soft furniture, carpets or other materials while in operation, as this may restrict the air from properly circulating around the device.

Do not short-circuit the contacts of a rechargeable battery.

Do not disassemble the rechargeable battery.

Remove the battery pack when it is fully charged. While the battery is being charged, the battery status indicator lamp lights up red; when the battery is fully charged, the lamp lights up green.

Remove the rechargeable battery pack when it is not used.

Caution Do not touch the battery's terminals with any metal objects. This would cause the battery to go to standby mode. Connect the DVD player with the battery connected to a voltage supply source to exit the standby mode.

6.1 Connecting the rechargeable battery pack Connect the rechargeable battery pack as described below: 1. Place the DVD player with the bottom side up on a plain, clean surface. 2. Hold on to the device with one hand. Position the battery's plastic pins so that they are aligned with the matching notches on the DVD player, and push the battery inside the device until it audibly locks into place.
6.2 Charging the battery pack Charge the rechargeable battery as described below: 1. Connect the battery to the DVD player. 2. Connect the power supply unit that is supplied with the device to the DC 9.5V IN power jack on the right side of the device. 3. Connect the power plug to an earthed socket as shown in the illustration below.

6.3 Removing the rechargeable battery pack Fully charge the battery and remove it from the device when it will not be used for an extended period of time. Even a device that is turned off uses small amounts of electricity in standby mode which ultimately discharges the battery. Turn off the DVD player before you remove the rechargeable battery as described below: 1. Push the battery's locking mechanism forward with one hand and, using the other hand, pull out the battery as shown in the illustration below. 2. Store the battery in a suitable location when it will not be used for an extended period of time.
Note Remove the rechargeable battery when you use the car adapter for power supply.

7.2 Using discs Handling When inserting or removing a disc, do not touch the surface (see illustration).
Cleaning Fingerprints and other contaminations can reduce the quality of the sound and the video. Use a soft, clean cloth for cleaning that can be moistened with a neutral, diluted cleaning agent if the disc is very contaminated. Do not wipe in circular motion (risk of static noises); instead, always wipe from the centre of the disc toward the outer edge (see illustration).
CAREFULLY READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE TURNING ON THE DVD PLAYER FOR THE FIRST TIME.
Caution Do not use low-quality discs to avoid damaging the lens.

8 Playback operation Getting started 1. Connect the device to a mains socket using the power supply unit that is delivered with the device. 2. Pus the POWER ON/OFF switch on the left side of the device to the ON position. The device's power supply indicator lamp lights up green, and a welcome screen is displayed. 3. Press the OPEN button, insert a disc with the printed side facing up, and close the disc cover (see illustration).
4. The DVD player automatically starts with the playback. 5. Adjust the volume to the desired level using the VOLUME controller on the right side. 6. Press the PWR button on the remote control. The DVD player switches to standby mode and the power supply indicator lamp lights up red.

To change brightness, contrast or colour. Adjust the values using the + and – buttons. If you hold down the button for 1-2 s, the aspect ration toggles between 16:9 and 4:3 (see illustration).
ZOOM button
For DVDs the image size is successively changed to the following values compared to the normal size: 2x, 3x, 4x, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4. For JPEG discs, first press the ZOOM button; this allows you to successively increase the image size to 125 %, 150 % and 200 % using the button or to successively decrease the image size to 75 % and 50 % using the button. This function is not available for CDs.
A-B button
Enables you to repeat playback of the section between points A and B multiple times while a disc is playing. Press this button once to set point A. Press the button a second time to set point B and start the looped playback. When you press this button during looped playback, you exit the loop mode. This function is not available for JPEG discs.

Insert a disc. The DVD player automatically starts with the playback. In the initial menu, select the desired option using the buttons. Then press ENTER on the remote control or OK on the DVD player.

Press this button once (during playback) to pause playback. Press this button a second time to resume playback.

Press this button once (during playback) to stop playback; to resume from the same position, press (PLAY on the remote control). Press this button a second time to end playing back the disc altogether.

AUDIO button
During playback the available audio streams are enabled successively (DVDs can contain up to eight audio streams; e. g., for multiple languages).
SUBT button
During playback, allows you to select a language for subtitles or to turn subtitles on/off. DVDs can contain up to 32 subtitle tracks. By pressing this button repeatedly, you call up the following settings: SUBTITLE 1/N: Subtitle 1 is displayed. SUBTITLE 2/N: Subtitle 2 is displayed. SUBTITLE */N: Subtitle * is displayed. SUBTITLE OFF: No subtitles. N represents the total number of subtitle tracks included.

When you press this button, the playback speed is successively reduced to 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 and 1/16 of the normal forward speed and then reverses. To resume playback at the normal speed, press on the DVD PLAY on the remote control or player.
ANGLE button
Pressing this button cycles through the camera perspectives available for the particular scene (see illustration).
This function is only available for DVDs that contain recordings of multiple camera perspectives. TITLE button
The content of a DVD is often divided into several titles that contain multiple menus. If you press the TITLE button during playback, the title menu is displayed. Using the buttons (or 0-9 on the remote control), you can select the desired title or the desired option. Confirm with ENTER.

Dolby Digital Dolby Digital is a technology developed by Dolby Laboratories. Audio material that has been recorded in Dolby Digital format can be played back on up to 5.1 separate channels with excellent quality. Letterbox image format In this format, the image of widescreen DVDs is displayed with black bars at the top and the bottom of the screen. Pan&Scan image format In this format, the image of widescreen DVDs is cropped on the right and on the left. Titles, chapters DVDs are divided into larger sections (titles) and smaller sections (chapters). The sections are numbered (title number, chapter number). Track (CD) CDs are divided into sections, called tracks. The sections are numbered (track number).

EN JPEG JPEG is a commonly used image format with small file sizes and minimal loss of quality. One disc can hold several hundred pictures that are saved in this format. To create a true digital picture album, you can create a picture CD in JPEG format. The illustration shows the folders and files contained on such a CD.
MP3 MP3 is a commonly used compression format for digital audio files that achieves a very good, CD-like quality. DivX DivX is a new method used for encoding video that is based on the MPEG-4 compression standard. This DVD player is capable of playing back DivX movies.
