THE BIRDBIRD TOWER Arboretum No r r Pen i n su l a San ct u ar i es
The BIRDBIRD TOWER in Arboretum Norr is a spectacular 20-meter-high timber construction, aimed as a landmark along the future path between Älvstigen and Turbinhallarna, which will be connected via a suspension bridge. The BIRDBIRD TOWER is divided between two sections; one part observation tower for human observation and the second structure left for the dwelling of native birds and other fauna. Linking the two entities is a ramp at slight inclination slowly paced throughout the structures. With an absence of stairs, the landmark is accessible by any user and by design inviting to slower reflection and observation.
To attract a wider spectrum of fauna, nesting boxes of varying design is distributed at different conditions such as dark, moist, high, low. Humans on the promenade are welcomed to catch glimpses of the neighbouring tower fauna at close distance while also able to view the surrounding landscape and its wildlife from great height.
