HEALTHCARE SECTOR

Our healthcare teams work within National Health Service (NHS) hospitals, residential care homes and specialist care units throughout the UK.
Our experience in this industry spans over 40 years and so clients can be assured that while they are taking care of patients, we take care of the rest, keeping them updated with progress throughout the works.
We work in a variety of healthcare environments including mental health and dementia facilities, so it is imperative that our teams carry out their works with respect and sensitivity. They accommodate for the daily activities of building users while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and infection control. All our staff are checked with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and provided with appropriate customer care and safeguarding training.
Adaptations can come in many shapes and forms. Our team of expertly trained multi-trade operatives from across our 13 branches are committed to providing long lasting solutions for staff, patients, and residents. MHA Weston and Queensway care for and support vulnerable people with dementia. They required a refresh to the internal and external of two care home buildings. Scope of works included 35 brand-new ensuite bathrooms, the installation of 65 new bedroom fire doors, replacement handrails, flooring throughout and a full redecoration of the lounges, corridors, offices, and communal areas. Alongside these works, the ceiling was also replaced within the Weston block as an additional project to make the area fire retardant.
During the project, our team noticed that the cross-corridor doors within the hallways weren’t lockable. This meant that the corridors would have left the working site areas accessible to residents and staff. To ensure the area stayed as safe as possible, we installed temporary locks on these doors to protect both the care team and residents from putting themselves in harm’s way. To complete the extra ceiling replacement works within the original time scale, we organised for extra directly employed operatives and approved local contractors to assist with the work.
The quality the operatives achieved has been of the highest order showing an attention to detail with the finished product going above the required standard.

CLC has worked on varioussized projects for the Trust and often work on live wards. They are well aware of all the issues and challenges this can present but have been flexible and cooperate well with staff.
Redwoods Centre is a hospital in Shrewsbury that provides inpatient Mental Health Services and Old Age Psychiatry. The hospital required fire door replacements and upgrades to bring the hospital up to current standards with cavity barriers, penetration sealing systems and fire rated timber door sets.
We work during normal working hours to reduce the cost to the NHS Trust. Because of this, we must be conscious of the disruption this might cause to the staff and the patients. Using a regular team of just four directly employed operatives and one Site Manager means consistency of standards and reassures staff and patients.

Construction can be very distressing for vulnerable patients, so it is our number one priority to ensure that they are safe and happy while we are in their space. Our solution for this is to provide our operatives with extra awareness and training so they know how to speak to patients and stay mindful.
