Like any great rock ‘n’ roll outfit worth its salt,The Weeks played as often as humanly possible, with countless club dates across the Southeast and tours alongside such like-minded acts as Local H, North Mississippi Allstars, and the one and only Meat Puppets.Their extraordinary energy and outsized performances – not to mention a series of well-received independently issued releases – earned them a fervent fan following and ultimately, a deal with the like-minded Serpents and Snakes Records.

40 Bracher Brown CD Release

CD RELEASE: Broken Glass and Railroad Tracks “One day I was given a Derek and the Dominos record [Clapton’s old band, best known for “Layla”],” says 18-year-old singer-songwriter Bracher Brown.“When I heard the song ‘Bell Bottom Blues,’ something stuck and I wrote ‘Perfect Storm.’” “Perfect Storm” is a standout slice of soulful pop-rock from Brown’s masterful debut, Broken Glass and Railroad Tracks (Rock Ridge Music). At the time he wrote it, he was just a 14-year-old kid who spent his weekends performing covers at open mics. However, throughout his album, Brown’s poignantly poetic lyrics on relationships, personal growth, and small town living belie his teenage years. His blend of roots rock with sophisticatedly accessible hooks, teardrop guitar solos, and elegantly subtle musicality is staggeringly developed and mature for any debut, let alone a debut from someone not old enough to buy a beer. It goes without saying that the headliners for Bonnaroo 2013 are must sees. Paul McCartney and Tom Petty are rock legends; Mumford and Sons are kings of not just the folk world, but apparently every music media outlet as well. Bjork is a visual sensation and Wu-Tang Clan is the greatest rap group of the last twenty years. However, once the headliners are accounted for, who’s next? Here’s five can’t miss artists for Bonnaroo 2013.

Twenty One Pilots

At their best,Twenty One Pilots could challenge fun. for the most animated band on the Fueled By Ramen label.Their live show is a non-stop exercise routine of jumping, clapping, and air guitaring, back flips off of pianos and tons of crowd participation, a staple of their concerts.Twenty One Pilots are playful, dramatic, and worth watching live.

Foals

They produce music to play live. They’re a touring band. That’s what they like to do.This is most apparent on their latest LP, Holy Fire. It contains the one characteristic that never changes when it comes to a Foals record: naked emotion. This bared soul is a quality that only beckons repeated listens, cathartic playbacks, and even surprising moments of dancing. If they put that much effort into their album, imagine the live show.

Milo Greene

Already popular before releasing their debut last summer, Milo Greene knows how to burrow their way into the hearts of music fans – memorable live performances. As such, they’ve steadily accumulated a few thousand sweethearts. Milo Greene puts on an inspired concert, showcasing their versatility and their heavenly melodies. They charm audiences with sincerity and brilliant energy regardless of setting or circumstance.

Matt & Kim

With their mantra of “getting weird” driving them, spunky Brooklyn duo Matt & Kim are one of the best live acts today. They don’t have fireworks or pulsating lights; what do they have is balloons for the crowd, confetti, Kim booty dancing, and an infectious sense of celebration from the start of the show to the very end. They’re a total blast; audiences won’t be able help themselves: they’ll laugh, dance excitedly, and lose their minds because it’s just that kind of show.

The xx

6/28 juanes

This June, the quiet, empty fields of Manchester,Tennessee once again plays host to nearly 100,000 sweaty campers and half naked ravers.Wacky flags will be made and so will the all important festival schedule. Conflicts and tough decisions are inevitable.

/hardrockorlando

Forget how minimalist The xx’s music can seem minimalist on record yet their live shows are dramatic flash grenades to the senses. If their ominous black attire is to be believed, this indie rock trio hails from some dreary street in London. However, despite their ghostly demeanor,The xx will defy any preconceptions.Although they play their songs with the precision of a German car manufacturer, they also play wildly, and fantastic, versions of their own material. Surprisingly, a concert by The xx is less morose pity party, and more of a magnificent and celestial warehouse rave.

Jake & Micky’s Home of the TroubleMaker

A DIRTY SOUTH HOMECOMING

SOUNDCHECK Reigning Dirty South Punk Rock kings Whole Wheat Bread have seen it all and have partaken in all. Since 2003, the band has played all over the world touring with bands like Streetlight Manifesto, Murs, Reel Big Fish, Bouncing Souls, along, with going on the road with Gym Class Hero’s for their first tour. They have put out two records and three EP’s with more music to come. They have recently released a six song free EP with rapper Murs under the name the invincibles. They combine the dirty south hip hop and good ole fashion punk rock. They will be hitting rocking the Backbooth in Downtown Orlando Wednesday May 15th How does it feel to be coming back to play in your second home town Orlando?

WWB: Nostalgic of course. At one point it felt like Orlando was our actual home town because our management, label, and studio were all located there. I remember finishing tours and going to Jacksonville to visit for like three or four days and then going straight to Orlando to write/record or just hangout and party for weeks until tour started. What is the craziest thing that has happened on tour?

WWB: The entire tour with GBH and the Krumbums. Also, Mr.Whitefolks and myself waking up in a strange parking lot puking and in pain from Tattoos that we didn’t remember getting. The tattoos are pretty terrible by the way. I know you guys are going to be back in the studio to follow up on the Invincibles EP with Murs. I have heard it’s about you getting shot recently. Can tell us a little, bit about the incident?

WWB: It was obviously pretty rough from my point of view just trying to provide Aaron with support because he could have easily died. He had people depending on him(fans, bandmates, promoters, management) and could have easily called it quits or taken a hiatus. He was a trooper though, He went on tour with pins sticking out of his foot and a wheelchair and brought it hardcore. He could have gotten an infection or caused further damage to himself. What will the new music be like compared to the older music?

WWB: More Emotion. More Heart. More Maturity. More Party. More Fun. What some advice that you would give a local musicians about touring?

WWB: Educate yourself as much as you can on every aspect of music business, on and off the stage. Enjoy and respect other artist. More importantly, respect and cherish what you do and have a fucking blast doing it. Also, when you are not a headliner on tour, remove your shit immediately after you are done playing. Surefire way to piss another band off. Rookie mistake.
