BRIEF
Schematic Design Proposal Wellness Center + Workforce Housing The project created a partnership between studioKanyini, an interdisciplinary group of students, and Native American Connections, a Phoenix non-profit organization that offers behavioral health and housing services within Phoenix. The team was tasked with investigating concepts for a schematic design proposal of a 74-unit workforce housing and a coeducational 60 bed inpatient, holistic Wellness Center. Varied partnerships provided us with a unique opportunity to collaborate as different disciplines, but also collaborate with professionals, community members and staff. All which were vital components of helping us understand the human qualities necessary within this project. Throughout the process, I was involved as one of two lead designers for the Wellness Center, interviewing to gain research necessary to produced floor plans, renderings and supplement information needed for the client.

BRIEF
Within this Comprehensive Design studio, our group of students and professors visited Houston, Texas to obtain a full experience of the Menil Campus. This provided us with the opportunity collaborate with staff on the design of a Drawing Institute, Cafe and Auditorium additions to the campus. Throughout a weekend in Houston, our group was intrigued by the nature of the bungalows surrounding the Menil as well as the “stumble-upon aspect of the many pavilions. With these concept in mind, our proposal establishes a relationship that relates to the informal qualities of the campus while delicately relating to the intimate neighborhood fabric.

BRIEF
Fall 2011 Phoenix, Arizona
The Phoenix Urban Farm School is a living example and experimental laboratory for students and the public. Through investigation of missing elements within the Phoenix metroplex, a distinct loss of connection to the surrounding natural elements is present. This loss of connection is regenerated within the site by creating relationships to the desert, valley, and mountains in order to create an ecotone where these elements overlap. The Phoenix Urban Farm School seeks to engage the northern community members, students at Gateway Community College, and transit passengers through a hands on learning environment.
