March is Women’s History Month, and we are excited to continue our tradition of celebrating the talent, tenacity and intellect of Arkansas’ women through our Powerful Women listing. This year’s class includes new categories: architecture, fashion and community. We also celebrate two other significant events: the Little Rock Marathon and the 100th anniversary of the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission. In the former, you’ll meet two individuals who’ve overcome obstacles to become marathoners. You’ll find the introduction to the latter within our pages and continued online at aymag.com. Another thing to celebrate is the generosity of Arkansans. One study found that many households give 6 percent of their discretionary income to charities, and the Arkansas Community Foundation wants to tap into that and help nonprofits maximize their reach. The foundation has partnered with more than 150 charities in hopes of raising $1 million through the one-day, online event Arkansas Gives.
