Welcome to AVDFC Good evening and welcome back to Haywood Way where we entertain Leverstock Green in this FA Vase replay , I would like to welcome all the players, staff and committee and I hope your stay is a pleasant one. Saturday’s game was a difficult one for us, losing Derek Feyi after less than twenty minutes meant a re organization of the side, but with the new sin bin law having been introduced this season, playing with ten men is something we have worked a lot on in training over the past few weeks and we coped very well with it and I thought were unlucky not to have won the game. From a management perspective we were pleased with our overall performance but tonight we will need to up our levels to overcome a good Levy squad. Talking of underdogs, we were bitterly disappointed to have gone out in the FA Cup to North Leigh the weekend before last. The performance was an excellent one and to be winning 4-3 with injury time approaching and then to go out 4-5 was a body blow to the whole team, but after a few days reflection the positives that we took from that game s massively outweigh the negatives and if we play with that commitment and passion for the rest of the campaign we will have a good season. A big thankyou also must go to the fans because getting cheered off after that defeat meant a lot to all the players and whilst the result was not a good one I think everyone could see the effort that had been put in. Dynamos HISTORY Aylesbury Vale Dynamos is an amalgamation of Aylesbury FC and Bedgrove Dynamos, two local clubs with a rich history in local football Aylesbury FC enjoyed a long history in senior and junior football dating back to the 1930’s under the previous names of Aylesbury Vale, Haywood United, Belgrave, Stocklake and Negretti and Zambra FC, which was founded in the 1930’s by workers at the Negretti and Zambra company then based in London’s King Cross district. The company moved to the Stocklake Industrial Estate, Aylesbury. in 1949 and by the mid 50’s the premises had a bar, football, cricket and tennis facilities. The football club joined the Aylesbury District League in 1954. The social club changed its name to Stocklake when Negretti and Zambra sold the premises to the local council, who then leased the facilities; hence the different sections adopted the name Stocklake. Under the guidance of Chairman Mr Ernie Crotty, the club gained many honours including runners up in ADL’s top divisions, before gaining intermediate status in the Wycombe and District League first and senior divisions. Sadly Ernie was killed in a road accident just before the club moved premises to the present location at Haywood Way in 1987. After gaining senior status and promotion to the Chiltern League in 1988, Stocklake enjoyed many further successes including Division One runners up in 1991, Premier Division and League Cup runners up the following season and Wycombe Senior Cup success in 1995. Cup success was also followed on in the following season, this time the Berks and Bucks Intermediate Cup being added to the trophy cabinet. Belgrave FC was formed in 1983 by Jim Sullivan who lived in nearby Belgrave Road. Jim had two sons who were passionate about football but were limited to where they could play, so formed a team himself with the help of neighbours Lynne and David Hatcher. By 1990, under the guidance of Danny Martone, Belgrave had grown to five youth teams providing football for over ninety boys from the Quarrendon and Haydon Hill areas of Aylesbury. 1996 saw the forming of two senior teams under the Belgrave FC name and by the turn of the millennium teams were represented at all levels from Under 8’s through to seniors, At the start of the 2000/2001 season, the senior Belgrave FC team was renamed Haywood United following an amalgamation with Stocklake FC with Danny Martone voted in as chairman of the new club. Haywood United joined the Spartan South Midlands League and won promotion into Division One after two seasons. Notable achievements during the 2001/2002 season included league awards for the best kept and most improved ground; this included the erection of floodlights and perimeter fencing, which Danny and his hard working committee fought hard to establish. Season 2002/2003 saw a difficult start in Division One, but with the arrival of manager Jon Franklin and his assistant Keith Walker just after Christmas, the club eventually consolidated finishing in 9th place. Promotion was gained to the South Midlands Premier Division the following year after a campaign that saw 23 wins, 7 draws and only 4 losses. Haywood United proved themselves capable of staying in the Premier Division after finishing 3rd in the 2004/2005 season in a campaign that only include one loss in the twenty matches after Christmas. The club also entered the FA Cup and Vase for the first time and won the Buckingham Charity Cup in 2006. Season 2006/2007 began with Haywood United becoming Aylesbury Vale FC and saw Keith Walker and Steve Gleinster take over as joint managers and steadily build a squad. This was recognised in the 2008/2009 season, under the management of Mark Eaton, with a good cup run in the FA Cup and FA Vase, winning three rounds in the FA Cup losing to Level 4 side Gosport after a replay, and losing out in the 4th round of the FA Vase to Leiston Town. . After Christmas the side suffered due to long term injuries and finished mid table. May 2009 saw a major new development in a new semi professional side vote for a name change. Aylesbury Football Club was formed under the leadership of Chairman Roger Dance and assisted by Vice Chairman Danny Martone
Dynamos HISTORY Former Chairman Bill Harrison was made President of the club. Great success on the field of play was to follow, with the team having a fantastic run in the F.A. Cup. We were the last 'level five' team in the country to remain in the competition and were rewarded with a visit to Haywood Way for the F.A. Cup trophy, allowing the team, supporters and local people to get their hands on this famous trophy and make the most of this memorable occasion. We were finally knocked out of the competition by Wealdstone in a close game. A brave and superb display was witnessed by a bumper crowd of 800 plus. Meanwhile, away from the midst of F.A. Cup drama, our success continued, becoming 'Double Winners' Winning both the Spartan South Midland League and League Cup capping an extraordinary season and gaining promotion to the Southern League Division 1 Central. Steve Bateman took over in 2013/14, steered the club to safety in his first 6 months in charge. Then in 2014/15 with Bateman at the helm FC has their most successful season to date most successful to date. Playing at the highest level in the club’s history, the team finished third in the League, having been pushing for promotion all season and narrowly lost out in the semi final to Bedworth United having already beaten them twice in the league the 2015/16 finished with a flourish as the club finished just outside the play off positions, but had the consolation of our first major Cup Final, beating Chesham United in the Berks & Bucks Cup at Windsor. Steve Bateman and his management team resigned at the end of the season and Danny Gordon & Gareth Risbridger took the helm , supported by Paul Bonham , Ryan Wiffin & Aaron Norman. Davis Haule took over from Gordon & Risbridger in December 2016, appointed brother Brian as his assistant and recruited former coaches Fraser McLachlan, Aaron Wiffin and added Ryan Collings to his back room staff for the 2017/18 season. In 2018/19 Scott Reynolds was appointed manager and when he resigned midway through the season it was left to Paul Bonham to take control but because of ground grading issues the Southern League made the decision to relegate the club and so after ten seasons in the Southern League the club will start the 2019 season in the South Midlands League after what has been a difficult and turbulent period. Bedgrove Dynamos Alf Buckland, a resident of Finmere Crescent, formed Bedgrove Dynamos in 1968. It was created to fill a void in activities for boys within the Bedgrove area on the south side of Aylesbury. In 1980, Dave Bayliss became involved when he brought his Cub side to the Bedgrove Park. The teams amalgamated and Dave went on to be the chairman for 21 years, stepping down in the year 2000. Within two years and barely a full strip between them, they managed not only to win the Under 12's Aylesbury & District League (ADL), but went on to win the 13's & 14's league in consecutive years and, by which time, they now had four teams at various age groups. Over the years the club has grown and has won many tournaments and trophies, especially at county level. Many teams have toured abroad and the club has also entertained boys from Europe and America. We can boost that we are the only boys club to have a club pennant on display in Barcelona's trophy room. At the start of the season 2001/02 the club was the largest junior club in the Aylesbury area, running teams from under 8's through to under 18's. At the end of the season 2001/02 the club managed to win the coveted Berks and Bucks Cup at under 14's, the Mayor's Cup at under 12's, represented in two other cup finals, won 3 league titles, gained 6 promotions in total and all teams finished in the top 6 to the fairplay awards for their respective leagues. In the last 20 seasons across the age groups the club has won 25 divisional titles, and runners up 20 times.
In 2019 two became one when the sides amalgamated with the intention of allowing the youth of the town to progress through junior football to youth and then adult football and play at the highest possible level.

Meet The MANAGEMENT Paul Bonham – Manager (Sponsored by Phil The Kitman) 2019/20 will be Paul’s first full season as Manager after seeing the side through half of last season . Most recently employed by Oxford United as academy coach and studying his UEFA B license, Paul was also previously Manager of the U18s, Development Side and part of the FC First Team set up in previous seasons and also has experience at Buckingham Athletic.
Paul Toms – Assistant Manager Paul joined us mid way through last season from Amptill Town where he was manager of the Spartan League Division One side. He was also Head Coach at Burnham and had two spells at Berkhamsted FC. Paul is currently also currently on his last block of the UEFA B coaching badge and has 9 years of coaching history at all levels from Sunday league to Ladies football.
Ryan Collings – Coach (Sponsored by Spot On Services) Ryan has played local football all of his adult life and was involved in the first team squad under Davis Haule in the 2016/17 season. Last year he was Manager of the successful Bedgrove Dynamos ADL side who he guided to the Marsworth Cup with a victory over Stoke Mandeville at Tring Athletic in the final
Pete Forssling– Coach Now in his second full season with the club Pete is an FA Level 1 coach and looking to take his FA Level 2 this year. His previous roles have been at Berkhamsted Development as Coach and more recently he was also First Team Coach at Ampthill Town.

Dan played a dozen games for Aylesbury three years ago under Danny Gordon. Right or left sided defender, who can play all along the back line. Good in the tackle with two good feet and an excellent reader of the game

Last TIME OUT Vs Leverstock Green – Drew 1-1 Away Aylesbury went into this tie without Bruno Brito, Alex Woodfine, Terry Matthews, Dan Wilson, Jonny Montgomery and long term injury Lewis Strafford, so again Paul Bonham had to change things around. In came loanees Nuredin Lilaj and Derek Feyi into the centre of defence with Drew Phillips returning to partner Keith Mupfururirwa in attack. It was a slow start by both sides as both teams came to terms with a bumpy dry Levy pitch. Returning Derek Feyi's day was to last just twenty minutes as the big centre half was yellow carded in the sixteenth minute for stupidly kicking a ball away and then three minutes later received his second yellow after a tussle with Leverstock's Zak Howells.This was now going to be a very tough afternoon for the away side, but actually the Dynamos all came together and took control of the tie. On twenty five minutes Harry Scott picked the ball up on the right flank, he bamboozled the left back whipped in a low ball into the penalty area where Drew Phillips got in front of the defender to toe poke the ball past the home keeper. Drew Phillips, now ploughing a lone farrow up front had a snap shot on the half hour which was saved by home keeper Matt Fallon. Half Time Leverstock Green 0 AVDFC 1
Even with ten men it was Aylesbury in the ascendency, Harry Scott was giving the full back a torrid time and just four minutes in the winger slipped in Phillips but his shot was driven over the bar. Three minutes later Scott again flew past the left back, vut back inside and his low left footed drive flew just past the foot of the post. With ten minutes of normal time left Levy had their best chance, Jake Williamson hit a right foot drive which James Weatherill parried at full length and then snapped up the loose ball, getting a kick in the face for his trouble which caused a long delay as he had blood piuring from his nose. With Weatherill still a little groggy the game re started and a strike from Ollie Cox was deflected past the AVDFC keeper. The home side now had their tails up and had a series of corners but couldn't get the goal they needed to close out the tie and eventually the referee blew for full time, meaning an extra period of thrity minutes would be played. The best chance of the extra period fell to Aylesbury when a ball in found Nuredin Lilaj on the edge of the box, the centre half knocked the ball into the air swivelled and threw himself into an overhead kick, but the stunning volley was cleared off the line by Steve Hawes. Leverstock Green - History Leverstock Green Football Club was formed around 1895. The first match reports appeared on January 4th 1896 in the Advertiser and gave an account of a match against Hemel Hempstead Rovers. The first competitive fixtures were reported during season 1908/1909 when the Club competed in Division Three of the West Herts League. Other clubs competing in the league at that time were: Abbots Langley, Bovingdon, Boxmoor, Bushey Heath, Hagden Lane, Kings Langley and Potten End. The Club ground in Pancake Lane originally formed part of the Gorhambury Estate, Lord Verulam making the ground available for the youth of the area and his estate workers to enjoy a game of ball. Clearly Lord Verulam was an early enthusiast, providing timber-built changing rooms, which have been progressively replaced since the 1960s by the existing brick built clubhouse and changing rooms. On the death of the Lord, certain parcels of land, including that on which the Football Club stood, fell to the Crown in lieu of death duties and is administered on its behalf by the Commission for New Towns, who have remained the Clubs landlords since that time, despite two unsuccessful attempts by the Club to buy the freehold. The club remained members of the West Herts League until 1954 when it broadened its horizons and successfully applied to join the Herts County League. By the mid 1970s the Club started to move forward with a new clubhouse, post & rail and the installation of training lights. The playing side of the club also improved and in 1979 the club won Division One of the Herts County League and were promoted to the Premier Division – the highest standard the Club had achieved in 80 years. In 1991 the Club were accepted into the South Midlands League and had two highly successful seasons in the Premier Division before being forced to drop into the Senior Division, as floodlights were then not available. In 1996 the club finished in runners-up position and the following season were the divisional champions but could not be promoted because floodlights had still not received approval from the Council. The 2005-06 season was the most successful for the club since the installation of the floodlights in 1999, which had fierce, and continuing, opposition. The club achieved their highest finish in the Premier Division, and reached the final of the Premier Division Cup, losing 1-0 to Oxford City, and The West Herts FA St Marys Cup, losing on penalties to Berkhamsted Town. There was a good performance against Boreham Wood in the Herts Senior Cup, going out on penalties after a 1-1 scoreline. In the FA Vase, Downham Town were beaten after a replay, North Greenford United were disposed of but we went out to Chalfont St Peter. In the FA Cup Eton Manor were beaten then we went out in a replay to Barkingside. James Armstrong scored hat tricks in both the FA Cup and the FA Vase, how many other players, if any, have achieved this feat in the same season. The 2006-07 season reached even greater heights, as the club beat their previous best with a fifth place finish in the Premier Division, reached the Third Round of the FA Vase and won the Herts Charity Shield for the first time, beating St Margaretsbury on penalties at Letchworth. The reserve team won the Reserve Division One title for the second time in three years.

Leverstock Green - History In 2007 the new Peter Metcalfe changing rooms were built due to continuing improvements to the club at a cost of ninety thousand pounds but were long overdue as the existing rooms had become too small with the ever increasing number of players, substitutes and management teams that clubs have these days.
2008 saw the refurbishment of the clubhouse to include new toilets and a new hospitality suite. The Ladies team was formed in 2005 and competed in the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire County Women’s Football League, playing their home games at Pancake Lane on Sunday afternoons. The Under 18 floodlit team competes in the Southern Counties Floodlit Youth League and also there are numerous youth teams from the age of eight upwards that play Sunday football. Season 2009-10 saw the Ladies take their League Championship and accepting the offer of promotion to the Eastern Region Womens League Division One South for season 2010-11, and they finished a respectable 4th position. Due to the standards being set by the Football Association for Season 2009-10 the Club had to undertake various ground improvements which includes a concrete walkway round the ground and seated accommodation for 113 spectators. It was also a season which saw some major changes with Kate Binns taking over as Chairman when Bill Dawes felt it time to relinquish this post. The Management teams also went under some changes with the First Team, Reserve Team and Under 18 floodlit team all having new Managers either at the start or during the season. Season 2010-2011 saw a fourth place finish in the South Midlands League Premier Division, scoring 100 league goals. After an early exit from the FA Cup at the hands of Harefield United, the team stormed into the FA Vase commencing with a 6-0 win against Welwyn Garden City, then a 5-4 home win against Enfield 1893. A visit to Hullbridge Sports brought a 5-1 win, Tunbridge Wells were the next to fall with a 3-1 home win and in the fourth round Bemerton Heath Harlequins were defeated 4-1 at home. In the fifth round we were drawn against Rye United at home, but the Wembley dream then faded with a 2-1 defeat. The final of the league Premier Division Cup was reached but we went down 2-0 to Colney Heath who we had beaten 4-1 in the league ten days earlier. Tring Athletic were next up in the St Mary’s Cup Final but we went down by two goals to one. Finally silverware came our way at the Herts County Ground when we beat London Colney 2-0 in the Herts Charity Shield. The Reserves finished in 12th position in the Suburban League North Division and the Under 18 floodlit team came runners-up in their Southern Counties League Delphian Division. Towards the end of the 2011-2012 season, manager Steve Heath and his assistant Neal Bartlett gave the club notice that they would be standing down. A new Manager for Season 2012 -2013 was recruited in Steve Benitez who had been Chesham United Reserve Manager in the Spartan South Midlands League Division One the previous season. Steve brought in Dan Manzi as his assistant. With most of the previous season’s players moving on it was a case of starting again as the season approached. Having picked up a good number of points before Christmas, we eventually finished in fifteenth position. Prior to season 2013-2014 Steve Benitez had to relinquish the post of manager due to work commitments in Spain and his number two Dan Manzi stepped into the role of Manager. Also to relinquish her post just prior to the AGM was chairman Kate Binns, this position has been filled with Secretary Brian Barter taking on a dual role. Brian was awarded the F.C. Crain trophy for club secretaries by the Spartan South Midlands League in season 2011-2012 and also recognised for forty years service to football by the Hertfordshire Football Association.

Leverstock Green - History Season 2013-2014 proved difficult, as having won the first league game the next thirteen were defeats. A rare win in the Premier Division Cup, then defeats in seven out of the next eight league games prompted a change of manager. In came the ex-Rayners Lane manager Dene Gardner who saved the club from relegation and reached the final of the St Mary’s Cup where we were runners up losing by three goals to two to Oxhey Jets. The Senior Ladies team won the Hertfordshire Women’s Cup at the County Ground Letchworth defeating Royston Town Ladies by three goals to two. The Ladies Whites in their first season in senior football were Champions of the Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire League Division Two and won the final of the Openage League Cup by two goals to one after extra time against Division One side Flitwick Ladies. Another milestone was reached as Bill Dawes was recognised by the Football Association and The Hertfordshire Football Association with awards for “50 years service to football” Our last word goes to a club stalwart Jim Matthews Macca as he was affectionately known, who sadly passed away, July 2006 at 90 years of age. His dedication to the club was recognised by the Football Association and The Hertfordshire Football Association by awards for 50 Years Service to Football
