The Greenfleets Stadium Haywood Way Aylesbury Bucks HP19 9WZ

Good afternoon everyone and welcome to Haywood Way for this afternoons league fixture with London Colney FC. Both sides come into this game in indifferent form and will be looking to finish the season as positively as possible after a disappointing recent run. From our own point of view we need to demonstrate the consistency we had during October and November when we had a settled side and not the up and down performances of late. We have 6 league games remaining of which 4 are here at Haywood Way and we need to capitalise on that home advantage and pick up as many points as we can.

Chairman: Mike Borrett Vice Chairman: Ryan Collings Club Secretary: Iain Willcocks Club Treasurer: James Moore Womens Chairperson: Rosanna Martone Media & Communications: Mike Farquharson Head of Football Development: Colin Young Head of Youth Football: Kevin Woodstock Head of Womens Football: Toby O’Callaghan Safety Officer: Craig Broughton Head Groundsman: Nick Ringsell

@ValeDynamos

Your continued support is greatly appreciated and let’s hope we can give the Dynamo fans something to cheer about during April as the seasons draws to a close.

Dynamos HISTORY Aylesbury Vale Dynamos is an amalgamation of Aylesbury FC and Bedgrove Dynamos, two local clubs with a rich history in local football. Aylesbury FC enjoyed a long history in senior and junior football dating back to the 1930’s under the previous names of Aylesbury Vale, Haywood United, Belgrave, Stocklake and Negretti and Zambra FC, which was founded in the 1930’s by workers at the Negretti and Zambra company then based in London’s King Cross district. The company moved to the Stocklake Industrial Estate, Aylesbury. in 1949 and by the mid 50’s the premises had a bar, football, cricket and tennis facilities. The football club joined the Aylesbury District League in 1954. The social club changed its name to Stocklake when Negretti and Zambra sold the premises to the local council, who then leased the facilities; hence the different sections adopted the name Stocklake. Under the guidance of Chairman Mr Ernie Crotty, the club gained many honours including runners up in ADL’s top divisions, before gaining intermediate status in the Wycombe and District League first and senior divisions. Sadly Ernie was killed in a road accident just before the club moved premises to the present location at Haywood Way in 1987. After gaining senior status and promotion to the Chiltern League in 1988, Stocklake enjoyed many further successes including Division One runners up in 1991, Premier Division and League Cup runners up the following season and Wycombe Senior Cup success in 1995. Cup success was also followed on in the following season, this time the Berks and Bucks Intermediate Cup being added to the trophy cabinet. Belgrave FC was formed in 1983 by Jim Sullivan who lived in nearby Belgrave Road. Jim had two sons who were passionate about football but were limited to where they could play, so formed a team himself with the help of neighbours Lynne and David Hatcher. By 1990, under the guidance of Danny Martone, Belgrave had grown to five youth teams providing football for over ninety boys from the Quarrendon and Haydon Hill areas of Aylesbury. 1996 saw the forming of two senior teams under the Belgrave FC name and by the turn of the millennium teams were represented at all levels from Under 8’s through to seniors, At the start of the 2000/2001 season, the senior Belgrave FC team was renamed Haywood United following an amalgamation with Stocklake FC with Danny Martone voted in as chairman of the new club. Haywood United joined the Spartan South Midlands League and won promotion into Division One after two seasons. Notable achievements during the 2001/2002 season included league awards for the best kept and most improved ground; this included the erection of floodlights and perimeter fencing, which Danny and his hard working committee fought hard to establish. Season 2002/2003 saw a difficult start in Division One, but with the arrival of manager Jon Franklin and his assistant Keith Walker just after Christmas, the club eventually consolidated finishing in 9th place. Promotion was gained to the South Midlands Premier Division the following year after a campaign that saw 23 wins, 7 draws and only 4 losses. Haywood United proved themselves capable of staying in the Premier Division after finishing 3rd in the 2004/2005 season in a campaign that only include one loss in the twenty matches after Christmas. The club also entered the FA Cup and Vase for the first time and won the Buckingham Charity Cup in 2006. Season 2006/2007 began with Haywood United becoming Aylesbury Vale FC and saw Keith Walker and Steve Gleinster take over as joint managers and steadily build a squad. This was recognised in the 2008/2009 season, under the management of Mark Eaton, with a good cup run in the FA Cup and FA Vase, winning three rounds in the FA Cup losing to Level 4 side Gosport after a replay, and losing out in the 4th round of the FA Vase to Leiston Town. . After Christmas the side suffered due to long term injuries and finished mid table. May 2009 saw a major new development in a new semi professional side vote for a name change. Aylesbury Football Club was formed under the leadership of Chairman Roger Dance and assisted by Vice Chairman Danny Martone

Dynamos HISTORY Former Chairman Bill Harrison was made President of the club. Great success on the field of play was to follow, with the team having a fantastic run in the F.A. Cup. We were the last 'level five' team in the country to remain in the competition and were rewarded with a visit to Haywood Way for the F.A. Cup trophy, allowing the team, supporters and local people to get their hands on this famous trophy and make the most of this memorable occasion. We were finally knocked out of the competition by Wealdstone in a close game. A brave and superb display was witnessed by a bumper crowd of 800 plus. Meanwhile, away from the midst of F.A. Cup drama, our success continued, becoming 'Double Winners' Winning both the Spartan South Midland League and League Cup capping an extraordinary season and gaining promotion to the Southern League Division 1 Central. Steve Bateman took over in 2013/14, steered the club to safety in his first 6 months in charge. Then in 2014/15 with Bateman at the helm FC has their most successful season to date most successful to date. Playing at the highest level in the club’s history, the team finished third in the League, having been pushing for promotion all season and narrowly lost out in the semi final to Bedworth United having already beaten them twice in the league. the 2015/16 finished with a flourish as the club finished just outside the play off positions, but had the consolation of our first major Cup Final, beating Chesham United in the Berks & Bucks Cup at Windsor. Steve Bateman and his management team resigned at the end of the season and Danny Gordon & Gareth Risbridger took the helm , supported by Paul Bonham , Ryan Wiffin & Aaron Norman. Davis Haule took over from Gordon & Risbridger in December 2016, appointed brother Brian as his assistant and recruited former coaches Fraser McLachlan, Aaron Wiffin and added Ryan Collings to his back room staff for the 2017/18 season. In 2018/19 Scott Reynolds was appointed manager and when he resigned midway through the season it was left to Paul Bonham to take control but because of ground grading issues the Southern League made the decision to relegate the club and so after ten seasons in the Southern League. Phil Granville and Ben Gill were appointed midway through last season and will kick off the 2020/21 season again in the Spartan Premier Division. Steve Bateman was re appointed as manager in September 2021 Bedgrove Dynamos Alf Buckland, a resident of Finmere Crescent, formed Bedgrove Dynamos in 1968. It was created to fill a void in activities for boys within the Bedgrove area on the south side of Aylesbury. In 1980, Dave Bayliss became involved when he brought his Cub side to the Bedgrove Park. The teams amalgamated and Dave went on to be the chairman for 21 years, stepping down in the year 2000. Within two years and barely a full strip between them, they managed not only to win the Under 12's Aylesbury & District League (ADL), but went on to win the 13's & 14's league in consecutive years and, by which time, they now had four teams at various age groups. Over the years the club has grown and has won many tournaments and trophies, especially at county level. Many teams have toured abroad and the club has also entertained boys from Europe and America. We can boost that we are the only boys club to have a club pennant on display in Barcelona's trophy room. At the start of the season 2001/02 the club was the largest junior club in the Aylesbury area, running teams from under 8's through to under 18's. At the end of the season 2001/02 the club managed to win the coveted Berks and Bucks Cup at under 14's, the Mayor's Cup at under 12's, represented in two other cup finals, won 3 league titles, gained 6 promotions in total and all teams finished in the top 6 to the fairplay awards for their respective leagues. In the last 20 seasons across the age groups the club has won 25 divisional titles, and runners up 20 times. In 2019 two became one when the sides amalgamated with the intention of allowing the youth of the town to progress through junior football to youth and then adult football and play at the highest possible level.

Meet The MANAGEMENT Steve BATEMAN – Manager Bateman has enjoyed an illustrious non-league career, starting his playing days with Hemel Hempstead before joining Everton, where he went on to win the FA Youth Cup before later playing more than 300 games for both Chesham United and Slough Town. His managerial career started at Chesham but he also managed Berkhamsted Town, guiding them to a memorable FA Vase final at Villa Park, and local rivals Hemel Hempstead who he led to promotion to the Southern Premier League. Bateman was appointed Aylesbury boss in 2013, replacing Craig Faulconbridge, and spearhead a strong promotion push in 2014/15 finishing third to Royston and Kettering, Aylesbury's highest ever league position, before losing out in the play-offs to Bedworth. Bates then bought the biggest trophy back to Haywood Way when in 2016 Aylesbury defeated Chesham United 1-0 in the Berks and Bucks Cup Final at Windsor FC before departing the club at the end of that season. He then returned to Berkhamsted, this time gaining promotion from the Spartan South Midlands League in April 2018 before two succesful seasons in the the Southern League, helping them to a 6th place finish in his first season before ending season 19/20 in top place prior to the null and void decision due to Covid. Steve's then teamed up with Lee Bircham and Hemel Hempstead Town in the National League South before ending their tenure earlier this month. Davis HAULE – Assistant Manager Davis is a Haywood Way legend and returns to Steve Bateman's management team as Assistant Manager. He will also be an important player in the middle of the park. Davis made nearly 200 appearances for Aylesbury between 2012 and 2019 and managed the side for a season and a half between 2016 and 2018. He brings with him an immense amount of knowledge of the non league game and will be an invaluable source of experience to the young players but also to the management team. John LAWFORD – Assistant Manager John was a prolific goalscorer throughout his career, which started at Luton Town, and he subsequently played for a number of clubs, including Bishop's Stortford, Hayes, Aylesbury United, Wokingham Town, Berkhamsted Town, Chesham United, Harrow Borough, Boreham Wood, and Waltham Forest.

Last Time Out U18s Thu 17th March 2022 Kings Langley U18s 1 AVDFC U18s 2 M.Weltenius, A.Mitchell, P.Will, W.Rose, J.Dyer, J.Guest- Brainch (Capt_, J.Leek ( M.Lopez), T.Dube (G.Todhunter), C.Cawston (E.Rose), K.Collier Unused - R Edmonds, R Plumley With due respect to our opponents who will PROBABLY be Champions anything less than 3 points for AVD U 18s would have been a travesty, with a couple of goal line clearances, twice hitting the woodwork and breaking through on a number of occasions, this looked like it could be the repeat story of our games v Leighton & Luton Cedars, where possession and chances will count for nothing. Even with Joe Hatton, Amir Shah, Loui Bowman, Sadibo Camara and Charlie Hine missing through injury we assembled a squad of 16 and the replacements grabbed the opportunity with both hands. A reminder of our required shape re-focused the lads and from the early minutes we matched our opponents then slowly asserted ourselves. After 10 mins a great slicing move finishing with a near post cross should have been converted, followed by a failure to convert from a number of well delivered Joe Leek corners inc a header from Jude Guest-Brainch, out-jumping the defence and firing a bullet header just wide scraping the paintwork of the left hand post, another which crashed against the far post, bounced along the goal line and somehow stayed out with the resultant rebound shot from Charlie again rattling the post. Custodian Marc Weltenius handled and kicked well and made exactly the right decisions to take the heat out of the game, under pressure in particular for really the last 10/15 mins stood up and had one of his better 90’s for us. Full backs Alex Mitchell and Jet Dyer managed to contain their direct opposites and played passes into good areas. Central defenders Will Rose and Prince Will were excellent, it is hard to remember a long ball bouncing and both made outstanding tackles during the course of the game. One in particular by the outstanding Prince Will, saw him turn into a fire breathing monster on completion of the block will live long in the memory. In midfield Capt Jude Guest -Brainch was by the smallest margin MOM and he and the other 2 in that midfield " team" Joe Leek and Kenan Kiarie generally kept our opponents in front of them. Up front Tafara Dube and Kris Collier out wide kept their full backs on the back foot and centre forward Charlie Cawston was back to being a handful. On 25 mins during with real belief coursing through the team, a first time slide rule pass on the floor from Joe Leek allowed Charlie Cawston to test the 2 centre halves, taking it in his stride pulled away from them both and smashed a low strike from 18 yards into the far corner past the diving keeper, great bit of football and deserved ! We kept Kings Langley at bay until in the last couple of mins in the half they twice played decent passes down our flank, on the second occasion, the first time in our area of any note in 43 mins of play, a very rare error from our defenders resulted in a spot kick and it seemed that instead of being effectively out of sight we would go in level. Keeper Marc Weltenius saved our bacon getting down to stop the strike and held onto the ball while we regained our shape... and composure. The second period showed we had lost none of our resolve and will to win. Kings Langley were kept at long range and we in turn again missed a number of chances inc a gilt edged opportunity when another excellent ball resulted in Tafare Dube & Charlie Cawston having a 2 v 1 doing everything right, drawing the keeper but failing to find Charlie Cawston in front of an open goal.. so close ! •Was this going to yet another one of those nights??? Then Jude Guest-Brainch received a great little chip from Marc, turned and an instinctive ball into the right channel, a foot race between Kris Collier and the full back

Last Time Out U18s to find Charlie Cawston in front of an open goal.. so close ! Was this going to yet another one of those nights??? Then Jude Guest-Brainch received a great little chip from Marc, turned and an instinctive ball into the right channel, a foot race between Kris Collier and the full back ensued, muscling his way past, the ball still bouncing, on the volley from 20 yards smashed the ball high over the keeeper into the net... what a strike and again no more than our efforts deserved. Ethan Rose replaced Charlie Cawston and more than played his part. Marco Lopez showed energy and determination as a midfield replacement for the injured Joe Leek. George Todhunter replaced Tafara Dube to strengthen our defence. This scoreline produced the expected response and everything inc the proverbial kitchen sink was thrown at us but our growing belief in ourselves showed we're able to manage these situations. With 15 mins to go Kings Langley got in behind us a cross shot which was clear going wide, hitting Prince Will as it flew past, dropping conveniently to the forward with a simple tap in. Must just mention the superb attitude from Rhys Edmonds and Rhys Plumley who didn't get on the pitch but were consistently supportive. The final period from then to the whistle proved how much we have learnt about the game and apart from literally the last kick we saw the game out in a reasonably comfortable manner for a result that shows what could have been. One of the issues over the last few games has been the inability to score in the big games, whilst dominating the ball and chances created, tonight this result vindicates the lads 2nd placing in the league, their dedication to always be available to train, to do the drills, to focus, listen to instruction, came together for 90 mins. We’ve won a number of games this season and some of those have been with top performances all round, to take on a side that has lost a single game and champs elect with a number of key players missing (4 of last weeks starting 11) shows what we have.. with only 3 x 2nd years in that squad, again roll on our next game and next season. • •

London Colney HISTORY London Colney Football Club was formed in 1907, playing at Whitehorse Lane until moving to its present ground at Cotlandswick, London Colney in 1976. The Club played in the Mid Herts League until the mid-fifties, when it joined the Herts County League. The Club has enjoyed many successes over the years with the 1st team winning the Premier Division League 3 times between 1986 and 1990, and the reserves winning the Reserve Division 4 times between 1987 and 1992. Season 2017/18 saw a new consortium headed up by Chairman Gareth Davies along with former Peterborough, Watford and Birmingham center forward Ken Charlery agreeing to become the new custodians of the club which was perilously close to folding. The season started brightly with the Blueboys top of t he league after the first 6 games which were a remarkable achievement considering the club had no players with less than 4 weeks to go until the season started. With a very young inexperienced squad (no less than nine under 19s) the early pace could not be maintained and the club finished the season in 13th place while also reaching the semi-final of the League cup before going out to Risborough
