Your Lieutenant Governor Hello my beautiful K-Family, I hope you all enjoyed the little sunshine we have had lately. While I hope you guys have been enjoying the break from school and the snow I have been a busy, busy bear. I attended a Kiwanis conference last week and have been very occupied with the planning of the Alaska rally. From the conference I gained new leadership skills as well as, some awesome ideas for future training, dcm’s, and goal making. For the Alaska Rally, AYS LtG, Alex Culbert and I have been trying to set in stone the date and location of the Alaska Rally. As this may not be new news to some of you, I would like to inform you guys that we will be having a tshirt design competition for the event itself. If you have any ideas or need more information email me!

Pay it Forward Lets start a chain reaction of people passionate about doing random acts of kindness. I want people to complete a “random act of kindness and then encourage a stranger to pass on the act of kindness!

Here is a list of pay it forward ideas from the web... 1. Hold the door open for the person behind you 2. Inspire others online. 3. Share your umbrella with a stranger on a rainy day.

4. Check up on someone who looks lonely. 5. Let someone with only a few items cut you in line at the grocery store. 6. Pay for the person in line behind you. 7. Help the weary shopper in front of you who needs that extra two or three cents to avoid breaking a 20-dollar bill. 8. Hug a friend. Let them know how important they are. 9. Send a nice email or handwritten card to someone you know, unexpectedly.

10.If you see a couple taking a self-pic, offer to take the picture for them 11.Leave anonymous thank you notes to teachers. 12.Invite a friend to the movies or dinner. 13.Put change in a vending machine. 14.Buy a meal for a homeless person. 15.Put something you no longer need on craigslist.org for free.

Human trafficking is the trade of humans, most commonly for the purpose of sexual slavery, forced labor on commercial sexual exploitation for the trafficker or others, for use as child soldiers, or for the extraction of organs or tissues, including surrogacy and ova removal.

More Facts

What is MNT? MNT stands for Maternal Neonatal Tetanus it’s a deadly disease that steals the lives of nearly 60,000 innocent babies and a significant number of women each year. The effects of the disease are excruciating — tiny newborns suffer repeated, painful convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and touch.

To eliminate MNT from the Earth, more than 100 million mothers and their future babies must be immunized. This requires vaccines, syringes, safe storage, transportation, thousands of skilled staff and more. It will take US$110 million — and the dedicated work of UNICEF and every member of the Kiwanis family.

35 countries have Eliminated MNT; 24 Countries have yet to Eliminate!
