Project:

Rebranding, Redesign & Relaunch

Summary: The Blade’s former parent company unexpectedly filed for bankruptcy and ceased all operations – leaving the future of the nation’s first LGBT newspaper hanging under a cloud of uncertainty. Solution: To reassure staff, vendors, advertisers, and loyal readers, BLAZER helped relaunch the brand with a new, modern identity that respected the paper’s rich history and importance in the LGBT community – while relaying that it was a “new day” at the Blade. Launch Campaign

Summary: BLAZER was asked to create the identity, publications design, promotional campaign, and social media presence to launch the first west cost edition of the Blade. Solution: Initiatives include logo development, publication design, print advertising, online banners, website development, social media, email, and a series of LGBT community events.

DC Capital Pride Guide 2012

Summary: The BLAZER team was contracted by the Capital Pride Alliance to reinvigorate their citywide pride guide including publication management, sales, editorial, design, layout, and distribution. Solution: The "Faces of Pride" creative approach celebrated the diversity of individuals celebrating in the District each year and was honored with a national American Graphic Design Award.

Summary: BLAZER was asked to create the identity, logo, and bid book for Team DC’s proposal for the 2022 International Gay Games. Solution: The resulting creative approach focused on DC’s strengths as an international tourism destination offering open spaces, iconic architecture, commitment to diversity, and successful track record hosting major international events.
