Arizona Humane Society is a private, independent, non-profit agency that has been serving the community since 1957. We are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, employ over 192 staff members and lean on our 1,800 volunteers to care for the nearly 46,000 animals we serve every year. Our organization created and now operates the only Emergency Animal Medical TechnicianTM program in the United States and the largest shelter-based trauma center for homeless animals, Second Chance Animal HospitalTM. We receive no goverment funding, relying solely on donations and service fees to operate. We are proud that an astounding 86 cents from ever dollar received goes directly to our programs and services for homeless animals.
