Construction Site Management POLLUTANTS ADDRESSED: Sediments, Nutrients and Organics, Heavy Metals
DESCRIPTION: Construction site management involves a set of planning and implementation activities which must be put into operation before, during, and after a construction project is carried out. Guidance on the development of an appropriate plan, known as a “stormwater pollution prevention plan” (SWPPP), can be obtained from the US EPA document cited below. The ultimate goal of any SWPPP is to protect rivers, lakes, wetlands, and coastal waters that could be affected by the construction project. Practices include appropriate handling of pollutants and special or hazardous wastes which could be released. Effective erosion control measures should be implemented throughout the construction site.
