SMALL_is beautiful
HIS POINT IS STILL LEGITIMATE BECAUSE THE WELLNESS DEBATE TODAY DEMONSTRATES; IN SPITE OF OUR ACCELERATED WEALTH BECAUSE THE 70S, WE ARE NOT ANY HAPPIER. SCHUMACHER WARNED TOWARDS PRECISELY THE ISSUES WE ARE NOW DEALING WITH AS DEGREES OF INTELLECTUAL INFECTION – MELANCHOLY, TENSION, PANIC ATTACKS, STRESS – UPWARD PUSH AND THE WORLD FITNESS ENTERPRISE PREDICTS THAT DESPAIR CAN BE THE SECOND ONE MOST COMMON HEALTH TROUBLE IN WESTERN DEVELOPED COUNTRIES BY MEANS OF 2020. THIS BECAME WHAT SCHUMACHER FEARED, AND HIS ANSWER WAS “SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL”. IN TERM OF URBAN, “SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL” COULD BE TRANSLATE ON HOW TO CREATE A SUSTAINABLE CITY BY USING THE EXISTING STRUCTURE WITHOUT DEMOLISHING IT. THIS ALSO COULD BE DEFINE AS CONSERVATION ISSUE TO ABANDONED BUILDING AT OLD TOWN. NOWADAYS, DEVELOPER ARE PREFERABLE TO DESIGN AND BUILD A NEW CITY OUTSIDE THE OLD CITY FOR A NEW URBANIZATION WHICH CAUSES THE HERITAGE BUILDING TO BE ABANDONED AS NO PEOPLE TO ENLIVEN IT. “Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex... It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction,” - Dr. Earnest Frederick SHUMACHER‘founder to the theory of small is beautiful, influential economic thinker, statistician, and an economist in Britain’

the roi concepts
UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES AROUND THE WORLD HAVE DONE EXTENSIVE SURVEYS OF THEIR CAMPUS BUILT HERITAGE RESOURCES. A DETAILED DESCRIPTION AND ACCOUNTING OF A CAMPUS’ BUILT HERITAGE, LANDSCAPE HERITAGE AND ARCHEOLOGY, ARE OFTEN USED FOR PREHISTORIC PRESERVATION PLANNING, AND SUSTAINING BUILT CULTURE IS ALSO AN IMPORTANT ASPECT OF A CAMPUS MASTER PLANNING OF FUTURE BUILDINGS.

WAYFINDING
THE STRIVE FOR CITIES TO BRAND THEMSELVES IS EVIDENT EVEN IN SUCH GRANULAR ELEMENTS AS STREET GRAPHICS. WELL-DESIGNED WAYFINDING NOW PLAYS MAJOR ROLE IN MASTER PLANS, SERVING AS STEP-BY-STEP GUIDES TO CULTURAL, ART, CIVIC, AND OTHER URBAN INSTITUTIONS AND POINT OF INTEREST.
WALKABILITY
“IT’S NOT THE BEER CANS I MIND, IT’S THE ROAD,” EDWARD
ABBEY
(Edward Paul Abbey was an American author and essayist noted for his advocacy of environmental issues, criticism of public land policies, and anarchist political views) AS CAR USAGE AND OWNERSHIP CONTINUES TO DECLINE, AND URBAN POPULATIONS OPT FOR ALTERNATIVES TRANSPORTATION MODES, MANY CITIES ARE WAKING UP TO THE NOTION OF A WALKABLE CITY BEING A DESIREABLE CITY. MORE FEET ON THE STREET IS LEADING TO RENEWED FOCUS ON PEDESTRIAN AMENITIES IN MASTERPLANS SUCH AS SIDEWALKS, STREET FURNITURE, CROSS WALKS, PEDESTRIANS PLAZA AND THE OVERALL ‘HUMAN SCALE’ OF CITIES AT THE GROUND

ARGUS LANE
BEHIND THE STORY
5
ZONE 1- The empty and dark back lane [1]. It is located in between the right side of the shophouses and brick gate for the school. Only one bicycle or motocycle that can pass through here. During nigh time no one would allowed to go here as if its next to abandoned houses (shophouse) . The feeling of eerie and dark place created some kind of taboo by the people in here, as if it was a haunted building because of nobody want to live here. There a few motorcycle here [3], they were the non-local who resident themselves here because of the work for the church (Cathedral of Assumption) right in front of the building block. *the story base on site studies, interviewing, and meeting with the locals

NATURAL LIGHTING
Maximizinf the indirect natural lighting inside the interior can reduce the artificial lighting usage. The natural ligting need to be controlled so that the interior is not being heated up overdosely and the can be reduce by having large louvers at entire sun-faced surfaces.
STACK EFFECT Fragmentation of the spaces arrangement and open corridor of the floor could maximize stack effect. It will broaden and smoothen the wind ventilation or movement to pass through the building
CROSS VENTILATION
Large outdoor green open space, flexible windows, substraction of spaces and short building depth promotes air movement and natural ventilations.
MULTIPURPOSE ROOF GARDEN
The sharing of green elements in green roof courtyard and open green spaces (office area) coolen the air quality surronding the building. The purpose of roof garden or green spaces not only for greens, but also for different outdoor functions.
RAINWATER HARVESTING
Rain water collected from floor surfaces and roof top surfaces are transfered (irrigations) to all plants through irrigation pipings, and it also filtered and reuse for domestic purpose. This simple method reduce usage of domestic water consumption.

GEORGETOWN MUSEUM OF DIGITAL ART THESIS STATEMENT
“What if it’s possible to transform from conventional art museum spaces into high dynamic performative spaces approach to heighten architectural experiences and human interactions inside a public museum via amalgamating of variants of understanding in an urban performative spatial catalogues”
ARCHITECTURE+DIGITAL ART
THE MALAYSIA SCENARIOS
ARCHITECTURE & DIGITAL ART, ARE THE TWO FORMS OF ART WHICH HAS MUCH DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THEM, FROM THEORIES AND PRACTICES. SOMEHOW IT HAS BIT OF SIMILARITIES WHEN IT COMES TO THE WORD ‘ART’. DIGITAL ART IS ONE PART IN THE PRACTICE OF MODERN ART IN THIS ERA. THE DIGITAL ART MEDIUM USES COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY IN ITS CREATION AND IT HAS REVOLUTIONIZED MORE TRADITIONAL ART FORMS LIKE PAINTING, SCULPTURE AND CINEMA. ARTISTS HAVE ALWAYS ENCOUNTERED TECHNOLOGICAL BARRIERS IN THEIR WORK. DIGITAL IS SIMPLY THE NEWEST MEDIUM ARTISTS HAVE DISCOVERED IN THEIR QUEST TO TELL THEIR STORIES CONSTRAINED ONLY BY THE LIMITS OF THEIR IMAGINATION. SINCE THE 1970S, VARIOUS NAMES HAVE BEEN USED TO DESCRIBE THE PROCESS INCLUDING COMPUTER ART AND MULTIMEDIA ART, AND DIGITAL ART IS ITSELF PLACED UNDER THE LARGER UMBRELLA TERM NEW MEDIA ART. IN AN URBAN AND DEVELOPED CITY, ARTISTS USES THE CITY URBANSCAPE AS THEIR PLACE TO IMPLEMENT THEIR ARTWORK WHILST CREATING EXPOSURES TO THE SURROUNDING. THIS IMPORTANT ROLES OF ARCHITECTURE’S SPACES ENHANCE THEIR PRODUCTIVITY AND HELPS THEM TO EXPOSE THEIR ARTWORK TO THE PUBLIC. ART AND ARCHITECTURE ARE SUBJECTIVE BUT IT CAN BE OBJECTIVE IF IT WERE USE MEETLY. IN THE URBEGO PROJECT BY GIULIA MACI FROM COPENHAGEN, THEIR ATTENTION OF REVITALISING NEGATIVE URBAN POCKETS ENGAGES LOCAL COMMUNITIES OF RESIDENTS, HELPING THEM TO TAKE CONTROL OF THE OPEN SPACES AROUND/ BETWEEN THE PLACES WHERE THEY LIVE. THE POINTS IS, THEIR METHOD OF GLOBAL SCALE PROVIDES A PLATFORM FOR SHARING AND TRANSFERRING KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE, ACTING MORE AS AN INTERMEDIARY BETWEEN THEM AND THE PUBLIC.
In a country where art is being cherish everyday yet it still in an obvious dilemma, but it were still close to the heart of every Malaysian. Since late 80’s Malaysia has already being part of the digital art movement (called E-Art Movement) and it was first introduced by the father of digital art, Ismail Zain. We should be grateful to have been able to maintain many inspiring e-art members like Professor Madya Hasnul Jamal Saidon, Niranjan Rajah, Wong Hoy Cheong, Kungyu Lew, Sarah Ameera, Fairuz Sulaiman and others. Since 2010, there are various movement arise to showcase their art to the public.
THE IDEAS OF POSITIVE INTERVENTION CREATE POSITIVE URBAN CATALOGUE OF NEW URBAN AND PERFORMATIVE SPACES. THERE FOR, IT REPRESENT AN EFFECTIVE WAY TO ADDRESS SOME OF THE PROBLEM OF URBAN LIVING, SUCH AS ISOLATION AND SOCIAL EXCLUSION, BY ENHANCING LOCAL IDENTITIES AND SENSE OF BELONGING TO A COMMON PLACE.
The creative industry in digital art movement has inspired artist to in cooperate their work by synchronizing with cultural enrichment and heritage-inspired artwork. The artist’s work and exhibition did not only grew in one places, they need to be expose their selves and their work to local public and art enthusiast. And so, while waiting for another art expo or exhibit, many of them contribute their work in several of showcase and manage to implement their method to many exposure in entertainment businesses. The art and entertainment business are another great way for them to boost their acknowledgement and at the same time being able to learnt new alternative to showcase their digital art. In Malaysia itself, we have organisations that helps and manage the artists, in being able to maintain the art industry, they have to get their show publicly expose.

the design theories
THE OBJECTIVES OF THIS PROJECT IS TO INVENT A MODERN FACILITY TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF DIGITAL ART AND TO INTRODUCE IT TO THE PUBLIC. THE DIGITAL ART APPRECIATION INVOLVES INVENTING A MODULAR EXHIBITION SPACE FOR FLEXIBILITY, AN ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGY IN MODERN SPACES, A CREATIVE ART SPATIAL SOLUTIONS, AND ALSO BY PROVIDING WITH CREATIVE WORKSHOPS AND ART STUDIOS. THREE KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT ARE TO GIVE AN EXPOSURE ON DIGITAL ART AND CRAFTSMANSHIP AS AN INFORMATION CENTER FOR THE ARTIST AND DIGITAL ART ENTHUSIAST WITH THE INTENTION TO CHANGE PUBLIC PERCEPTIONS TOWARD DIGITAL ART (DIGITAL ART INSPIRATION). THE PROGRAMS TEACH AND INSPIRES A NEW GENERATION ON THE CREATIVITY AND THE TECHNICAL ABILITIES THAT DIGITAL ART CAN HELP TO GROW IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

the design theories
IN THIS EVER CHANGING ERA, THE PROJECT AIMS TO REPRESENT DIGITAL ART AND THE NEW REVOLUTIONARY MEDIA ART TOWARD THE EDUCATION PURPOSES, NOT ONLY AS A SINGLE FORM OF ART, BUT TO BE AS PART OF MANY NEW MEDIA ART THESE DAYS HAS PRODUCED. THERE ARE MANY FORMS OF ART IN THE DIGITAL ART MOVEMENT AND IT ALWAYS BE PART OF OUR LIVES TODAY OR THE FUTURE TO COME. IN THIS DESIGN, THE PERMEABLE OF SPACES TO ALLOW VISUAL AND PHYSICAL EXPLORATION BETWEEN EXHIBIT SPACES. BY ENABLING THE PERMISSIBILITY IN THE SPACES BETWEEN THE NEIGHBOURHOODS IS TO AVOID SOUNDING COMMOTION THAT COULD DISTURB THE ADJACENT BUILDING. BY USING THE PERFORMATIVE SPACE APPROACH, THE SPACE IS DIVIDED INTO SMALLER SPACES BY INTRODUCING PORTABLE WALL. THESE ENABLE FRAGMENTATION OF MULTIPLE USE OF OPEN SPACE THAT CAN ACCOMMODATE TWO DIFFERENT KINDS OF EXHIBITION METHOD. THE LARGE OPEN SPACES ARE TO ENABLE FREE CIRCULATION AND MORE VERSATILE AREA.
design thesis statement “WHAT IF IT’S POSSIBLE TO TRANSFORM FROM CONVENTIONAL ART MUSEUM SPACES INTO HIGH DYNAMIC PERFORMATIVE SPACES APPROACH TO HEIGHTEN ARCHITECTURAL EXPERIENCES AND HUMAN INTERACTIONS INSIDE A PUBLIC MUSEUM VIA AMALGAMATING OF VARIANTS OF UNDERSTANDING IN AN URBAN PERFORMATIVE SPATIAL CATALOGUES” . THE DESIGN IS TO INTRODUCE A DIGITAL ART EXHIBITION HUB AND FACILITIES SUCH AS ART STUDIOS, DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES, EXPERIMENTAL LAB, SOUND MIXING STUDIO, WORKSHOPS, AND SHARING MEDIUM SPACES WITH THE APPROACH OF PERFORMATIVE SPACES TO SPAWN HUMAN INTERACTIONS AND THEIR INTERVENTION FOR THE USE AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF DIGITAL ART. THE INTERACTIONS AND INTERVENTIONS ACT TO BRING ABOUT THE ARTIST ENTHUSIAST AND DEFINING THEIR APPRECIATION OF ART TOWARDS THE PUBLIC.

_THE DESIGN is inspired from the creation of GRID architecture design and combining with, in a sense, constructivism of inhabitants within cities to create a ‘temporary’ visibility in order to suit the place of belonging _the purity of skeleton built as architectural armature may have define places, how ever many may define it as temporarely or invisible _scaffolding-like structural design has always been an internationalized vessel, which bring infinite architectural possibilities to many, acting like an imprint, leaving traces of its presence behind Design of a Virtual Reality System for the Study of Diagram Use in Organic Chemistry Andrew T. SPECIALSTUDY:RED‘AQOUSTIC’OVATIONREFLECTORPANEL The reflector panel layout, elevation and coverage area is critical to the performance of the space and effectiveness of the overhead reflectors. A minimum percentage of coverage area would be 50% of the ceiling from the front of the stage to the rear wall of the auditorium. The maximum recommended coverage would be 70%. Open spaces between reflectors allow for the coupling of the air volume above and below the reflectors. This maintains the desired effect from the overall room volume of the auditorium. Panel layouts more dense than 70% will not allow for the acoustical coupling and desireable room reverberation will suffer. Design so the entire surface of each reflector is visible from the stage area. Angle reflectors so that sound reflections are projected to the audience, with emphasis on middle and rear seating areas. GALVANIZED COATED CABLE CLAMP_an ingenious design that holds any structure with capacity of 150% above its load. connection pulled by 3/8” diameter galvanized coated aircraft cable
For musical performance, the panel sizes should be larger with the minimums in the 10-12 feets range for width and length. The reason for these size requirements is the nature of the various sound frequencies and the size fof the sound waves being reflected.A sound wave of 250Hz is almost 5 ft. in length and will be easily move around smaller panels such as 4’ x 6’s or 4’ x 8’s. This is called sound diffraction and is not desireable where the goal is to reflect the sound with minimal energy loss to the audiance. As sound waves become larger at low frequencies, particularly in music performance , larger panels are desireable. Acoustic panels called Ovation Hardside may be recommended to control back wall or side wall reflections. The absorptive fiberglass batt on the back side of the reflectors also reduces reverberation levels. Fire Rated Test Data_ SPECIAL OPTION: class A rated 4’ x 10’ maximum panel size with fire rated core and laminated face.

The structure made from the idea of Schewdler Dome structure. A schwedler steel dome is made up of two sets of struts some that emanate from the poles that look like spokes on a wheel viewed from above, the rest form horizontally rings around the dome at different heights. The vertices are formed by the intersection of these two sets of struts, all the faces are trapezoid except the top ring which is made up of triangle faces.

AIR CONDITIONING & MECHANICAL VENTILATION SYSTEM
One of the most important considerations in operating digital art galleries is the air quality. The digital art galleries requires proper ventilate air quality and adequete air conditioning. A digital art environments as important as preparing a proper room for digital equipment to properly conduct in a control spaces with proper temperature, humidity control and clean air. When the atmosphere are not according to strict specification, this can result in high damaged of the artists digital equipment. An ever -increasing rate of air pollution is threatening air conditioning system and the buildings they are in. Pollution will not only affect the indoor air quality but also the performance of the air conditioning system. A corroded air coiled heat exhanger causes a higher condensing temperature resulting in higher energy consumption.
VARIABLE REFRIGERANT VOLUME SYSTEM (DAIKIN-VRV) The variable Refrigerant Volume HVAC System is a relatively new technology developed by Daikin, the world’s leading HVAC manfacturer. New VRV systems offer high levels of energy efficiency, as well as flexibility. They operate quitely and provide the user full control of the environmental temperatures.
UPPER FLOOR
While traditional HVAC system are often limited to one condensing unit, one compressor and one evaporator, a VRV system can be designed to specifically meet the needs of the building. One condensing unit can be connected to several evaporators, each of which are individually controlled. VRV IV HEAT PUMP Daikin’s VRV IV systems integrate advanced technology to provide comfort control with maximum energy efficiency and reliability. Available in both Heat Recovery and Heat Pump configurations, VRV IV provides a complete solution for multi-family residential to large commercial applications desiring heating or cooling. SUPPLY VOLTAGE OPTIONS
UPPER FLOOR
Suplly may be provided at any of the declared voltages :275 Kv, 132 Kv, 33Kv*, 11kV, 6.6 kV* and 415/240V. Generally, supplies to domestic premises are given at single hase 2-wire or three phase 3-wire. However the actual supply voltage provided depends on the magnitude of the individual applicant’s load requirements :Low Voltage i. Single-phase, two-wire, 240V, up to 12 kVA maximum demand ii. Three-phase, four-wire, 415V up to 45 kVA maximum demand iii. Three-phase, four-wire, C.T metered, 415V, up to 1,000 kVA maximum demand Medium Voltage & High Voltage
FIRST FLOOR
i. Three-phase, three-wire, and 11kV for load of 1,000 kVA maximum demand and above ii. Three-phase, three-wire, 22kV or 33kV for load of 5,000 kVA maximum demand and above iii. Three-phase, three-wire, 66kV, 132kV and 275 kV for exceptionally large load of above 25 MVA maximum demand it should be noted that voltages other than the above classifications couldn’t be provided by TNB. However, consumers can make their own transformation arrangements where necessery. CONTROL ROOM

PHOTOVOLTAIC WALKABLE FLOOR_NEW ENERGY GENERATION ONYX SOLAR has using the walkable PV Floor as another innovation solution for intergrating solar energy into buildings. The photovoltaic solution comes with the hightes quality standards: it complies with the anti-slip regulation, it supports up to 400kg in point load test and reaches almost the same efficiency levels than any other photovoltaic building material
The PV pavement is a really appealing product for architect as it can be intergrated in any project and environment without renouncing design and aestheticism. What’s more, it combines elements (avoided CO2 emissions) with active elements (power generation), greatly reducing the building’s environmental impact.

The educational trip to India is to focused on the study of urban planning, heritage, culture and the real environment of hectic life in India. Our aim is to practice urban cataloguing and to investigate new alternatives to city development and planning as discussed in the syllabus. It is also to strengthen our understanding and to discussed the scope of research related to phenomena and interpretation through architectural experience during the visits. The educational trip was another platform for us in experiencing “hands-on” with tough and rough situation rather than just only to refer from books, magazine or the internets.
