BACKGROUND In developing the ideas, we are inspired by real life experience living in Surakarta as we tried to relate with some stakeholders involved in the matter. They are government, street vendors, and citizen itself.

Street vendors in Surakarta growth rapidly The growth of street vendors in Surakarta had increased in 2010 from the number 2.104 street vendors became 2.816 street vendors in 2012 (Rahayu,et,al. 2013). On the other hand, the government does not have complete data and distribution maps of street vendors, which adding more difficulties for them to manage the street vendors.
The street vendors as informal activities have contributed to the economic cycle of the city The fact that 10% citizens of Surakarta working as a street vendors (Surakarta in numbers, 2015) shows how they played a significant role not only in the city's employment rate but also in economic activity.
As job opportunities in informal sector that help the government decrease unemployment number Street vendors can be a job opportunity for citizens who have low education background and skills
The street vendors provide variety of commodities including citizen's basic daily needs They provide basic daily goods which are important in everyday live such as food, clothing, toiletries, etc.
The street vendors are easily found anywhere and anytime That's why the street vendors are easily found anywhere, i.e education areas, offices, etc. Some of them are open 24 hours. Street vendors are more flexible in time and location (can be called anywhere any time, for example a tire repair).
The street vendor’s commodities tend to gave cheaper price than in stores. There are citizens who have low incomes, and in order to fulfil their everyday needs, they prefer to go to street vendors instead of local stores because of the cheaper price.

There is no platform and digital information about the street vendors yet
Street vendors are very helpful basic service in the city. Yet there is no platform and detailed information about them that can make the citizens or tourist to get information and find the location.
GOAL
Street Vendors 10% citizens in Surakarta earn main income as street vendors
Build an innovation platform with detailed information to promote street vendors and engaging society toward smart city
There is no spatial local policy that allocate space for street vendors in Surakarta There is no spatial local policy (Rencana Tata Ruang Wilayah and Rencana Detail Tata Ruang) that allocate space for street vendors in Surakarta, in which there should be amenities to accommodate them since UU No. 26/2007 (Public act about spatial planning in Indonesia) mentioned about granting some of the city's facilities for informal sectors.
The access to get information such as funding and training to enhance their businesses are finite. The limitation also occurs in street vendor's market because of lack of promotion.

PROBLEM

IDEA The prototype that we have developed is an online smartphone based application demo. This app is mainly focused to help citizen browse street vendors around their location, while at the same time it also acts as an information platform for buyer to discover the street vendors related to their needs and service. The information ANGKRING can provide including street vendor operation hours, delivery availability, service available in the nearest places, and a huge range of street vendors the citizen can easily find and locate.
