About Us When Jamie's Italian was first conceived, the starting point was to re-create what Italians are most proud of - fantastic, rustic dishes, using recipes that have been tried, tested and loved! Jamie talks about "feeling Italian" and in Gennaro Contaldo, we can tap into real thing. A great mentor for our young chefs and someone who, as a boy growing up in a tiny fishing village on the Amalfi coast, learned how simple, fresh ingredients, prepared and cooked with love and passion (a phrase he uses every day - and means!) become truly great dishes. So of course we wanted to serve exceptional food. But our aim was also to create an environment with a "neighbourhood" feel, inspired by the "Italian table" where people relax, share, and enjoy each other's company. About Sam Strange At just 25, Sam Strange is a veteran of the Oxfordshire entertainment scene. Billed, justifiably, as Oxfordshire’s leading magician, he is one of the most engaging, charismatic young men you could ever wish to meet. The magic’s great, but the whole Sam Strange experience will leave you open-mouthed asking, ‘how does he do it?’. Sam first graced the pages of B4 in Issue 2, as a fresh faced 21 year old. Four years on, and he’s still 21. That’s magic I suppose! He really hasn’t aged. Maybe he has the secret to eternal youth up his sleeve, along with a few rabbits, knives and no doubt a few pythons. If he could, he’d get a double-decker bus up there. The only aspect of Sam which isn’t in alignment with his youthful appearance and all-round exuberance is his air of authority and confidence. Not many twenty one year olds, forgive me, twenty five year olds, can carry themselves with the same level of purpose, awareness and humility. But that’s the Sam Strange package and helps make him the real deal. Sam is based in Oxford, but regularly attends events all around the country, encompassing corporate events and team-building days, weddings, parties and no doubt the obligatory Bar Mitzvah’s. His forte is close up magic, and Sam regularly performs in front of celebrities and leading businesses.

Earlier this year, after another hectic December, Sam took some time to build his magic CV. “I attended a couple of magic conventions in January, which was a great opportunity to share ideas and watch others perform. More often than not there is an area devoted to magic ‘dealers’ who exhibit props, illusions and other magical treats! The day usually finishes with an evening ‘show’, with some of the best performers from around the world. Coming away from a convention inspires and promotes thought, so I now have new tricks and routines which I include in my working repertoire.” What has really surprised Sam this year is how busy he has been in a recession. “Corporate entertainment has obviously been hit this year, but I haven’t been busier. The fact that I have been doing it for longer, more people know me and more people have my business cards, just increases awareness about me. Hopefully I am building up a good reputation, and although most will regard me as a luxury, I like to think I can make a difference to your event.” No matter what your event, Sam can cover it. If it’s a large affair, he can organise other entertainment to supplement what he does and ensure everyone sees a performance. “I recently had an enquiry from Blenheim Palace and was asked to organise a comedian, which isn’t a problem.”

Striking up mini personal relationships engages everyone, and it really works.” With a busy Christmas on the horizon, Sam will no doubt be in demand. “Christmas parties have their own energy anyway, but I can really make sure that the event goes well, giving the gathering a bit of a kick start. For many businesses, going out for a Christmas party is the first time work colleagues, who spend every day together, will have socialised that year.
