THE SHELDONIAN THEATRE ABOUT US Described as one of the ‘architectural jewels’ of Oxford, the Sheldonian Theatre was designed by Sir Christopher Wren and is a Grade I listed building. Purpose built for University ceremonial occasions, this unique historical venue can be hired out all year round. It is best suited to concerts, awards ceremonies, talks, lectures, meetings and drinks receptions. The closeness of the Theatre’s seating to the performance area and the building’s unequalled design, means the audience experience is an intimate one in refined and elegant surroundings. The Sheldonian’s close proximity to its sister venue the Examination Schools, also means these two buildings can be used in conjunction with each other for large scale events and conferences.
