ABOUT
The design of ALILA’s The Imperial House/ Bao Dai Villas is the perfect mixture of the Imperial Vietnamese interior design and the simplicity of contemporary architecture. The design embraces the surrounding environment and scenery by erasing the boundaries between indoor and outdoors, while simplifies and emphasizes on the traditional decorative ornament through cho chi wooden louvers, broze details, furniture, and imperial decorations. Here, walls turn to doors and doors open to nature. Local ventilation blocks are also used to bring the Imperial feels into the space.

As Ho Chi Minh City eagerly transforms to become a mega city of the region, there is a lack of green space, “breathing space,” in the biggest city of Vietnam. MPC Tower is designed to fill that void. The tower becomes an oasis with the mentioned “breathing space” and the green space on each floor without a lazy repetitive motif. These voids move and turn around the tower, creating a visual effect that the tower is growing along with the city. The interior space is designed into two main parts - residential and corporation spaces. The design, thus, not only embraces the void and green attributes but also maintain the privacy and confidentiality of the two spatial groups.

ABOUT
Bellara Beauty Bar aims to bring the luxury spa experience to the everyday neighbourhood with great emphasis on health, aesthetics, and comfort. To meet up such an objective, the interior design picks up the gorgeous warm-toned of wood, the luxurious feeling of golden-toned materials, as well as the relaxation effects of the green palette and indoor plants. The space is divided into four main parts: Reception and Bar, Beauty Salon, Massage, and Back-of-House. The programming and circulation are straight-forward and accessible. This approach opens up the space, making it more spacious but still keeps the warm and cozy feeling.

ABOUT
“REDEFINE SACRED” is the theme of Studio 2. The course requires the students to look deep into their soul to find the special phenomena in their lives that they call refuge. MUSIC is my new sacred. MUSIC has the unspeakable power of connection, resilience, rehabilitate, and reconciliation. MUSIC is in every corner of our lives. As the project process, I explored the multi-layered and multi-dimensional power of music and interpreted such unique characteristics into the design language. Here in St. Norbert Music Center, music is the catalyst of multi-generational connections. It is the way that the older generations pass down their knowledge, cultural value, and passion to the younger generations.
WORKSHOPS
SOCIO-CULTURAL ROLE OF SACRED PLACES LEADS TO - THE IMPORTANCE OF RED RIVER AND ASSINIBOINE RIVER IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CITY OF WINNIPEG - MULTI-LAYER OF SOCIO-ECONOMY AND CULTURAL ELEMENTS IN THE IMAGE OF A RIVER
Explore the importance of the rivers in connecting the communities within and linked to Winnipeg. The images are the worshipping places, which were visited prior the workshops
Forging the river shape into the image of the music cleff to EXPLORE the design potential and connection between the rivers and the theme of re-defining of sacredness - in this case - music.

ABOUT
Cua Dai Hotel re-imagine the live of the local fishermen and their relationship with fish. Coming to the resort, guests walk into a underwater world with fish swimming on the air and lily pad floating on the ceiling. The underwater world is created by merging two significant images that have important cultural impacts onto the local community: lanterns and karp fish. The karp fish lanterns act as the main light source as well as the main decor, accentuate the whole space and emphasize the underwater concept.
